Riding a drum machine beat so wet you can imagine fish swimming past in the LCD glare, "Dirty Epic" is ten minutes of two-note keyboard fills, decaying organ tones, and a small army of synths sounding like "real" instruments, synths sounding like mechanical devices, and synths sounding like, well... synths—shimmering, pulsating, all those things people use filtered waveforms for.

"In fact, one could argue that Underworld served the same purpose in the 90's that New Order did in the 80's: they showed every other rock band on the planet how to make proper dance music."
Now that, is fucking class.

I like it, its definatley one of the top 3 tracks (Juanita was voted the most popular track here, remember?)..
It one of those tracks that, sadly, i don't listen to enough. I wish it could be revived with a 2007 remix, ive listened to it so much it starts to sound dated.
Ive been listening to Two Months Off lots latley, it has that 'easy listen' quality, that is liked by all that listen to it...

The "dirty guitar mix" was the first UW track I ever heard (apart from Underneath the Radar of course!). When the played the Big day Out here in Auckland a few years back they played it live, which was the first time I had heard it live after 7 concerts.

Back when I was first getting to know one of my old good buddies, we were discussing what music we enjoyed when I brought up the topic of Dirty Epic and how much I liked it. He mentioned that he used to listen to it on the bus trip to university almost every day. I think it was the mutual love of that song that pretty much solidified our friendship. :)
To this day I can still listen to it and get into it just as much as I could the first time around.
