Just a pointless idea i had to maybe get in to more artists etc. No restrictions to genre etc, if you think its good then send a link to something where you dont have to register to hear audio. Myspace i guess is best. I'll start with a guy going under the name Sketches For Albinos.

Its kind of post rock meets gentle electronica from Iceland and is absolutely gorgeous, new album i think is out on monday on digital release. From the sample tracks im gonna invest i think.

can we all do it without linking to Myspace pages? sorry, but i've never found any music off myspace and i never will. searching myspace for music is like looking for a girlfriend at the Juvenile Detention hall. sure it may work for Professor, but for self respecting music lovers, it's more of an insult than a benefit.

i think that is pretty awful thing to say... sure there is a lot of shit on myspace but that is because there is a lot of shitty music in this world... there is also some great bands who have music on myspace..

a. it's owned by Rupert SUCKING BUSH's COCK Murdoch. do you realize how evil the FOX Corp. is?
b. it's fucking ugly
c. it's overrun by talentless assholes
d. sound quality is shit and you can't download the tracks (usually)

what can you find on myspace that isn't also somewhere else on the web? answer: nothing of value.

every artist who is worth a shit also has their own webpage or has tracks hosted on other mp3 blogs. if an artist only has a myspace page, they're not worth listening to.

how about some proper links to download tunes instead of piss poor streaming where you can't skip through the track or rewind easily?

As much as I dislike MySpace in terms of social networking, if I need to hear a new band's song, the easiest/fastest way is to visit their MySpace webpage and listen to that crappy flash player that's always there.

Bossman & friends' new Hazzardous mix !!

very nice netlabel for sound art, radical electronics, etc

myspace is often the fastest, most direct, and only way to hear new dubs. yes it's part of newscorp or whatever .. but well, the information is what's important

speaking of myspace music, I've really been enjoying Tycho lately. Didn't know if it's every been mentioned here before. Tycho's doing the Boards of Canada sound better than Boards of Canada is right now.

A Dutch rapgroup (there's a lot of crap dutch hiphop, but these guys are great):

http://www.opgezwolle.nl/

http://www.myspace.com/opgezwolle

On their official page go to Download and listen to some stuff, that's not their best though. "Tunnelvisie" and "Hoedeplank" on their Myspace page are a better example.

Another Dutch hiphop formation, but this is with English rap. Perquisite plays quite some instruments and is heavily influenced by Jazz music. Think of A Tribe Called Quest, but different:

White Noise - An Electric Storm

This probably doesn't quality as 'new' music, as it was released in 1968, but it's new to me, at least. Years ahead of its time.

From http://www.headheritage.co.uk/unsung/review/1143 :

“MANY SOUNDS HAVE NEVER BEEN HEARD – BY HUMANS: SOME SOUND WAVES YOU DON’T HEAR – BUT THEY REACH YOU. ‘STORM STEREO’ TECHNIQUES COMBINE SINGERS, INSTRUMENTALISTS AND COMPLEX ELECTRONIC SOUND. THE EMOTIONAL INTENSITY IS AT A MAXIMUM”

This is the introduction on the sleeve to what I can only describe as one of the freakiest, most frightening, far out and forward thinking albums you may ever get to hear. This is no ordinary album. An Electric Storm will take you to outer space, into the future, tear your brain apart and then give it back; stimulants should be taken with caution guys. It’s electronic and psychedelic yet stills slots in nicely into any psyche, kraut or space rock fans collection. This gorgeous heavy black hunk of celluloid is 35 years old and it still sounds totally far out. I don’t know a whole lot about electronic music, but I know it started here, there was nothing like it at the time, it was ahead of it’s time. This could be why this record never gets mentioned and is in severe danger of being lost, save for a few champions. It’s one of those you’ll never hear about it until someone lets you in on the secret, and once you’ve been initiated, there is no return. I guarantee once you hear this record you will never forget it.

Don't have any streaming links, but it can't be too hard to find in the usual places.

You can download good quality (as in quality mp3's....the quality of the music is up to all y'all's subjective tastes...) tracks from links on my MySpace page in the "About Grandbrother" section. The link to the MySpace page is in my signature. Wish there was a way to block certain users from having access to them though. Some other tracks can be found here (http://home.comcast.net/~grandbrother/index.html).

I honestly wouldn't have linked to my own tracks if it wasn't for the ridiculously stupid posts by BLD.

i would have also accepted "spectacularly dumb" and "frustratingly infantile" as suitable phrases. good choice though.

That's a bit of a non sequitur isn't it? "Cos BLD disses MySpace I will plug my own music on it?" ;)

In the meantime, I want to plug a great IDM musician called Esem (Georg Marinov)

His website is here: http://dot.cult.bg/esem/ and has some downloads on there.

His MySpace page is here: http://www.myspace.com/eesn

(although he doesn't use it, apparently).

That's a bit of a non sequitur isn't it? "Cos BLD disses MySpace I will plug my own music on it?" ;)Just wanted to make the point that BLD was directly insulting people who frequent these forums.

But just to branch it out, I linked to this site...

http://fm-shades.blogspot.com/

...in another thread a while back that I don't know how many people saw. I would recommend the albums available for free there by Kraftwerk, SRC, Creepy John Thomas, and the Velvet Underground. It's all from the 60's and 70's, but fantastic stuff.

And here are some great, free Dub tracks through Amazon.com...
