This Serbia show is news to us! I think therefore this is someone trying it on....
That said, we are looking into Live opportunites in all corners of the globe (almost!) through 2007.
More soon....

Do you have a believable source?
Maybe it's just me, but I absolutely cannot picture Underworld playing at a motorbike meeting...

yea - that REALLY doesn't make sense
I mean... I can kinda picture Tricky there (b/c of his rockier live shows)... but Underworld and Jamiroquai?!?!

The thought that the majority of motorbikers(in their culture it's not WHAT you ride, it's THAT you ride) are high-end professionals, doctors and lawyers is not a myth.
My guess is that you lot would be surprised how well rounded even the real life tough guys in the biking world can be.
Many a kegger by the river in my past.

Daft Punk is on the lineup as well. Underworld, Daft Punk & Prodigy all for 60 EUR is definitely tempting...

ok - i know this is an Underworld forum and we have a couple of thousand members (and a lot in the US), but seriously how big are UW still in the US????
i don't doubt their popularity personally but seriously could they afford to do a US tour???
festivals is one thing but sustanining a tour in the US is it a serious idea..??
i don't know - i am genuinely asking the question - could they really play in 20 venues for example (to make it worth their while)
i mean they have not played a serious tour here in the UK for a while, where the fan base is probably still strong but probably has wained since the last album...
i just think they might have to see how well the next album is recieved before even considering a US tour...
joethelion
02-04-2007, 05:02 PM
well... I guess it all depends on what you'd think of as a 'proper' tour
and I don't think that you would have to do 20 shows just to "make it worth their while"
Now a tour consisting of say... New York, Detroit, Chicago, LA... and maybe a show or two in addition -> now that would absolutely work
I mean come ON... at least give us one show or two! It's crazy that the last time they were here was back for AHDO....

im so jealous of you dirts across the pond.
yet you whine...remember cocoon ?
and Toronto waits since 2002.
and Toronto will always sell out...always.
so...bring on a major US tour.

All I can tell you is that every time I saw them in the late 90's and early 00's (basically the last time they were here) every venue was packed to capacity and beyond.

its not that i don't doubt Underworld's hardcore fans - (whom post here)... or even a largish number in the US who don't post and want UW to tour again, but 99-00's was over seven years ago and things have changed and i know how hard it is for Brit bands to come and play stand alone gigs in the states...
not only that but it costs a heck of a lot of money to tour and now without major label funding - i'm just wondering whether they would ever do the states on their own again....
hey, i even think that their overall support in the UK may have dropped since the last time they played a proper tour here (and released an album) ... music has moved on and so have Underworld
we'll have to wait and see, but i dont seriously expect anything tour wise to be announced until at least the album is wrapped (festivals like this one, Roadfest - do announce line ups well in advance - and i think its likely that UW are on this - especially with some further proof and the other acts listed)

good post, bbs!
but all the same: could some mod please delete/move to a new thread all the whining "when-do-they-come-to-my-place" posts? this thread should be about the "Road Fest, Serbia" festival, and nothing else. thanks.

ahh there you go... official news -
btw - chimp / UW - i don't wanna discourage the boys from touring the US - i know that they have a lot of fans world wide :)
(i'm just summising that i believe, possibly incorrectly, that a tour of the US is a lot of money and would need to be worthwhile doing before being considered - whereas a gig as part of a festival is less expensive and hence probably more likely - in the US at least...)
anyway - cross Serbia off the list for now - UW arn't playing anywhere as yet!!!

why don't they just do like ... three special shows in the US
like how the EU got those 3hr shows... why not do one of those each for NY, CHicago, LA (or something to that effect)
or... one of those often-times thought of, but never executed "ambient shows"

if i were in a band, there's no way in hell i'd go to America. fat, obnoxious, greedy, thieving, arrogant fuckwads. in fact, i call for a total ban on America around the world. global sanctions starting with musicians and goods. and we need our own Hiroshima to understand the devastation we've caused. UW, do not support America. We are evil, good-for-nothing assholes.
thank you.

Underworld, can't wait to see you at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC again! (I've personally never done any of the above.)

Off topic, of course, but the US dollar is so weak compared to the GBP it would only cost half of what you'd imagine!

True, but I'd still gladly pay. It makes me happy to hear that they're planning on all corners of the globe... I hope they know the globe is round. :p

for underworld, "around the globe" essentially means 5 shows in the netherlands, two in some far-away countries (japan, argentina) and two in some obscure little eastern european countries (like serbia)

Didn't Karl mention shows to come in the UK in an interview?
I'd imagine that, when the album sees the light of day, a proper tour will materialize. Certainly, not extensive in the US, but the typical big cities.
I think it's pretty cool that UW have played some unusual places, often for the first time ever, during their 05-06 gigs.
That said, UW, please come to the US! i will make every effort to see you this time, and will promote it to everyone i know!
