Just been listening to the track, and the lyric "Sun goes down temperature drops" made me think that it could be tediously used in Danny Boyles new film as its all about the sun potentially burning out.

I don't know, maybe im just thinking to hard. But i think it'll appear somewhere seeing it got performed not so long ok.

thats a little too literal.
it'd actually be pretty painful

What i find incredebly funny is how we didn't even know what Biro The Leggy was for 5 YEARS!

Trousers anyone? :)

But now that we know it, boy do we love it!

This track, with it's "floor of the train, sun goes down, temperature drops" lyrics, always evokes bleak winter here on the present earth. So i agree, it doesn't have a sci-fi vibe to me.

anyone know if this track was ever officially released? i got 2 d/l's of it as part 1 and part 2 a while back on ssx (soulseek for mac) and the id tag read Acid Fan Remix. Being familiar w/acid I'd just assumed it was a fan mix, but all this talk about Biro is making me thinks that I'm missing an UW track in my collection... er... can anyone help w/my obssession? Thanks!

now playing - "Gravity - John Mayer" ... yes it's a contrast, but damn I love this song!

It was never and will never be released. It's one of the countless phantom Underworld tracks.

It can seem frustrating, but I think we're actually very lucky to have it at all. There must be thousands of tracks out there that nobody will ever hear. That's one of the great things about their web broadcast and download series (not just RiverRun) - we get exposed to things we otherwise wouldn't.

I know i know...

wait - I forget, is "Trousers" the audio from the old UW live page? or was that "kippers"?

I almost wish that they'd give out some of the old tracks for free again... like how the old underworldlive.com was

not that I don't like the live jams / studio dj sets or Riverrun, but sometimes - I do miss getting studio outtakes in decent sound quality

i think "kippers" was the audio from the UW dogboyheadset. Wasn't Trousers a fake a la "laughing Tortoise"? Ah, the mythology of it all!

The two "studio" versions of Biro the Leggy: One is from a lemonworld broadcast, if i recall, in Oct 2004, and the other is a slightly longer version played during the tribute to John Peel shortly after his passing. It is wonderful to hear this track played live as we know it now, cos i have some boots where "ansum" and "010101" are also ref'ed as early Biro.

hm...

I don't think that "trousers" itself is in the same category as Laughing Tortoise

I'll have to check a bit later today, but my gut says that "trousers" is one of the improv's off of one of the electraglide concerts...

I just wish that we could get AT LEAST a proper 128kbps mp3 of biro the leggy - all copies of the song that we have are rips off of internet streams

Hmmm, maybe you're right: theres that "I like the sound of your voice" and another really banging instrumental on one of the 2000 shows.

Looking at my boot list, i think it's on one of these:
Roskilde Festival, Denmark 6/30/2000
Bizarre, Weeze, Germany 8/18/2000
Lowlands 8/25/2000
Pukkelpop Belgium 8/26/2000
Electraglide 11/24/2000

Trousers, indeed!

isnt that the 010101 rehash? he even says, "one one one, thing..." in the lyrics.

i still love the "gets much better" version of Confusion the Waitress myself. from that same show. Eglide2k i think.

OK - so who out there with l337 mashup-skillez agrees that the drums on the live version of Biro could mix in beautifully with Nuxx lyrics? And does anyone fancy a stab at it, cos I really don't have the equipment to do it.

Sounds brilliant! It would be nice to ear a mashup of an uw track w/n an uw track... ahh the harmony... I, like you burnout, lack the equipment, but also the time to dabble into mixology right now.... but soon... soon I will have my iPod mixer (anyone see the new Numark? It's excellent and you only need 1 iPod and, and, and.... it has pitch control... PITCH CONTROLLLLLLL!!!!)

now playing - "Slayer - Giant Drag".... the song is called Slayer... just in case there are some fans out there of the group Slayer... although it would be comical to know if anyone who was a Slayer fan would have started searching for a track called "Giant Drag".... lol.... www.giantdrag.com (http://www.giantdrag.com)

Since you asked so nice, i gave it a try! Not wonderful, but all those drums are banging!

(sorry, i'm presently w/o webhosting!)

Both tracks are from the 10-12-06 Cocoon Club performance, with pitchshifting, timestretching and cuts as needed. i looked for an acapella set of Slippy lyrics to no avail, but the live version worked just fine. i hope!

going back to the original theme of this thread and Danny Boyle's movie... Sunshine...

would Bang the Poll not be more appropriate as a track for this movie...

or at least the Sunrise Dub by Paul Woolford

"watching the sunrise, watching the sunrise"

maybe not... ho hum
