well this movie is due out in March 2007

which by my reckoning means that the soundtrack by Underworld should be pretty much done...

so when it is and anyone has anything from it... let us know here, eh?

Underworld electronic music duo Karl Hyde and Rick Smith have been writing original music for Sunshine. "(Danny) showed us a rough screening," said Hyde in an interview. "We were completely hooked." Hyde says he and partner Rick Smith were enticed by the concept. "It's kind of a big budget sci-fi movie, and it's something quite extraordinary for Danny... He got some fantastic performances out of the actors."

"There's quite a sprawling palette of material now that we're picking out of," Hyde said about the soundtrack. "We're not looking to have anything near to finishing until the end of November, but we're enjoying the process nonetheless."

so, looks like they might be nearing finishing, but remember the boys have been traveling as of late.

i'm hoping for banging tracks as a balance to the lush lovely B&E OST

In the bigcitybeats.de interview Karl says that it's done. It's a great interview btw.

He says it's very electronic and it uses 'mutant choirs in a very ???????? way'. (I don't understand the last bit. :D Is somebody able to translate that? :))

i'm excited for this, as it means that we get this and an albumn. and this is proper uw too, not like the b&e soundtrack... not meaning that i didn't like the b&e, just that this is ONLY uw, so it's different for me. Anyhow, I wonder how much of this might be stuff we have heard snippets of, or not... and same with the albumn...

to me, uw is like apple computers. we are devoted and grab onto everything we can get as fans. and they give us hints but nothing solid in terms of whats coming out! almost all bands would have a track listing and such out for this already..

Yep - gonna be interesting this one. As long as they haven't gone down the Solaris/IDM road and are gonna give us something with some meat about it :)

that is a sweet find... i like a lot of the actors in it( although i have only seen most of them in minor roles before). Michelle yeoh is especially good if i remember...

anyhow, it sounds distinctly like uw for some parts (like the very end) and not 100% like them in the middle...

What's wrong with the Solaris route? I can imagine some really haunting music being generated in the vein of the sublime melodies of I'm a big sister...

Just to put you all in the picture.......the "Sunshine" score is another collaboration, this time with an amazing composer Danny's worked with for a long time, called John Murphy.

So have Underworld composed or supplied some kind of 'other' music like a track for use in the film rather, than the score then -

Because the Score is basically what they did with B&E.

It sounds like Danny might be using some 'proper' music tracks rather like Born Slippy was used in Trainspotting....

It sounds to me like they are collaborating on the film's musical score with John Murphy, the same way they did on B&E with Gabriel Yared.

I doubt we'll get an Underworld "song" proper.

28 days later is a good soundtrack, one i actually bought and am re-listening to now just to see how this would go up with UW sensibilities and..
damn, it's a little exciting
they sound remarkably compatible. they both have a good ear for the tender ambience that i love from UW tracks like "most 'ospitable" and "110501," and john murphy knows how to give sounds "temperature" if that makes any sense at all. theres the emotionally manipulative surface of ambient music, and then theres the part that really puts a sndtrk together which is the aesthetic of the film, and it really comes together on that one. even in the tense, most layered sequences, it's still very very cold.

hey hey, i'm kinda excited about this one after all. they should do really well.

so is this soundtrack actually being released - beacuse with the film just 2 weeks away there is no listing for a physical soundtrack anywhere on the web afaik...

i know UW & John Murphy have provided music, or John Murphy has scored it with UW's music as a basis (so his missus says at IMDB)... but is this actually gonna be out to buy or just on the film... and has anyone seen teh movie and heard the input???

come on guys at UW HQ any info?????

I mean - when MA did the "Danny the Dog" / "Unleashed" soundtrack, it came out a while before the movie

credits.

I think the boys should at least give us a track listing, right ;)

Each of those cities is more than 200 km away from where i live, though... :( So i have to wait until the 19th...

I'm absolutely sure that Sunshine gets a proper OST album, because every Danny Boyle movie eventually got one.

Heal and Restore [2.20.20 last Lemon World Broadcast] is deffos in there which is good as its an awesome piece of music.

Oh man! "To heal and restore broken bodies..." truly is an awesome piece. Very moving. Can't wait to get this :)
