This movie is awful. The acting is abysmal. No background.
Tell me why did you like it.

I don't.
There - that was easy. :p
On the other hand, The Hole (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0242527/) scared the bloody living daylights out of me. Yes. At my age.

i liked it because it is a really low budget film (which explains the bad acting - this wasn't a multimillion dollar hollywood production) and because it has an absolutely minimal storyline, which is, of course, totally ridiculous.
if you think Cube was bad, you should watch Cube 2, which is possibly the most inane movie ever made. :)

Coming soon - "Cube 3 - Cubed!"
Yeah the Cube 2 is waaaaaaaaay worse. And I didn't even like the first one.

cube 0 actually made more sense,
and puts the other ones in perspective,
as it's a prequel...not bad actually..

Yep, I'll give Cube Zero a go....
Being low budget isn't what makes this movie so bad. What makes it so bad is the way they waste an interesting plot and how you're left without any room for hypothesis because you're not given any hint about who or what is behind everything..

Yd how you're left without any room for hypothesis because you're not given any hint about who or what is behind everything..
isn't that a lot of room for hypothesis? :p

Yeah, what I mean is you're not given a starting point to begin with.... It's cheap.

I liked it cause it was original (for it's time) and kept you wondering what was in the next room. The effects were pretty good and the acting wasn't as bad as the acting in the sequels. I like that they kept the outside world out of it. I hated the new one where it was some experiment and people were watching it.....it took away all of the mystery and suspense.:(
They basicly stay in one room, but it has different colours everytime they enter the "new one". Heh, yeah the storyline is really thin.
The Hole was actually on telly a week ago, but only saw the end, and it seemed pretty cool.

i saw this years ago and my disgust is still going strong. they should have just loaded it up with blonde teen agers with music contracts and marketed it that way.

Hmmm, I dunno but I think I enjoyed Cube 1 for what it was. It's a long time ago I saw it though...

I think that sums it up pretty well. The storyline doesn't have to be thin, I think I'm so dissapointed with this movie because it had a lot of potential that got wasted....
I know a handful of blonde teenagers that have a million better acting skills than Cube's. The only one I kinda liked was the engineer, don't remember it's name, just because he doesn't overact.

and be believable when the script calls from them to ponder forever whether 645 is a prime number or not.

I think we'll agree that a confussion face is something they can achieve easily. :P.
I like it, simply because it was the first horror/splatter film i've ever seen.
The intro where this man was 'cubed' by this huge grid was really shocking...
