Being as i am the 'numberonesuperfan'™ i thought i'd share some nuggets of wisdom with you and detail a specific collectable that may be missing from your collection, by sharing information about the rare bits in mine:

so here goes:

Collectable #1: A Hundred Days Off Sampler CD (V2DJ-27142-2)

This CD was issued by V2 in the US to promote the album A Hundred Days Off. It is a promo only 6 Track Sampler

Tracks:

1. Trim
2. Ballet Lane
3. Ess Gee
4. Twist
5. Sola Sistim
6. Two Months Off (Radio Edit)

Unlike almost every other Underworld music release since the MK II version of the band came in to existence around 1991, this release features a picture of the band on the front cover...which sort of makes this a unique release.

The CD is basically 60% of the full released album, except for the radio edit version of Two Months Off, (which features on all of the single releases). It comes in a Jewel case, and has quotes from Interview, Urb and Spin Magazines (all US based) on the back.

It is also intersting to see that the tracks appear in a different order on this Sampler than they do on the actual released album.

The CD itself is similar to the standard release, except for the larger font and 'sampler' wording.

Its a nice addition to a collection for the simple fact of the black & white picture on the front of Rick and Karl, which US radio DJ's prefer so they know who they are playing. Without photo's and PR, bands like Underworld would struggle to get airplay in parts of the US.

Year of Release: 2002

Current Price (Esitmated): £8 - £12

Desirability: 6/10 - you need this because its unique, but not if you are looking for tracks that you don't have.

Availability: 5/10 - its hard to get hold of these days, but its not that expensive really, as its basically a 'short' album and more like an ep and doesn't contain anything unique.

how many were made? is it hard to get a hold of because it is in high demand or because there were few (how many? ) copies made ?

how many were made? is it hard to get a hold of because it is in high demand or because there were few (how many? ) copies made ?

well i don't know actual numbers, but i'd estimate between 500- 2000 being made...these would have been sent out to radio stations, DJ's and stores in the US for Promotional purposes only...(no 12" / vinyl promo's were mailed - afaik)

"take a listen to this this is the latest Underworld album"

"mmm...i like that we'll stock it"

it rare in the UK because it never came out here, its rare elsewhere simply because of the nature of the cover and because it was a promo

Collectable # 2: BORN SLIPPY 2003 Nuxx - Japanese CD promo Only - No Catalogue Number

1. Born Slippy 2003 (radio edit) 3:55
2. Born Slippy.NUXX (short version) 4:22
3. Karl Hyde Radio ID 0:09

This promo was issued in Japan only and only appears on CD, in a slim jewel case.

It contains the three tracks above and is purely and simply collecatble for the fact that it contains a short but fun Radio ID from Karl Hyde, which lasts all of nine seconds.

Radio Jocks play these ID's before a track, so as to appear that Karl was in the studio with the DJ. This one goes:

" Hi this is Karl from Underworld, with Born Slippy, its big, its banging, its noisy, its sesastional, its Born Slippy"

Karl says 'sensational' in a very 'smashy & nicey' way...

Both versions of the music tracks can be found eslewhere, but the ID is only on this promo as far as i know of. Also unique to this promo is the track listing appearing on the front of the CD Cover as well as on the CD itself. (its the standard black born slippy 2003 cover - with the addition of track text)

The inner cover also features, in Japanese, text details of the 1992-2002 album & 5 track Born Slippy CD single, plus Cat numbers and Japanese retail prices for these official releases (the track names are in English)

Year of Release: 2003

Current Price: £10-£15

Desirability: 7/10 - well its a rare track - that you won't get anywhere else if you liek these kind of things

Availability: 2/10 - i have only seen one more of these for sale...so its pretty rare in my opinion, although it doesn't go for silly silly money, but £10+ for basically a cd single is a bit much for some.

a lot of searching ;)

ebay...

web searches...

dj friends...

and a few people off load their collections my way that include bits of interest (knowing i'm a uw nut)...

plus i buy literally everything related to uw...whereas a lot of people pass up things that look ordinary but are a bit quirky...like Japanese items (i have about 10-15 uw cd's still in their Japanese shrink wraps with unique obi strips - just duplicates of albums but with Japanese inserts)

My wants list is almost as long as my list of items that i already have...well its about a third of the size, but it's still quite long...and i find stuff that i didn't know existed all the time...

but its what i do and collect...anything related to Underworld & Emerson & Junior Boys Own ....

another gem for you collectors will be highlighted tomorrow (stay tuned) :

Collectable # 3: Razormaid! Level 6 Subscription Only CD - No Cat Number

compilation album: track 6 is Underworld - Dark And Long (Razormaid! mix) 7:35

this is an 11 track subscription only CD from the United States. Razor maid! is a remix service similar to DMC & Swemix, who issue monthly 12" or CD albums which include exclusive members only mixes of popular tracks. These remixes are NOT officially available. (DMC membership in the early 1990's used to cost £20-£30 a month for two 12" singles...which contained anywhere between 8 and 16 tracks of exclusive remixes...)

Some of these albums contained mega mixes, which did include Underworld tracks such as normal versions of Born Slippy thrown into the mix, but as far as i know, only two Underworld tracks got the full 'exclusive' remix treatment by any remix company, and these were by the Palm Springs based Razormaid! productions.

The other, which i sadly don't have, is mmm Skyscraper (Razormaid Remix), but the one here is the stripped down remix of Dark and Long (Dark Train) - its basically and edited version of the 12" mix, with some subtle differences...its not that different for about the first 4 minutes, basically its Dark Train entirely, then it breaks down and starts nicking bits from spoon deep...and then towards the end goes back into Dark Train again...its almost like a 'jam' version of the track that you'd find on UW live...so pretty unique - there is no details of the remixer or anything about the mix - the CD only says 'Underworld' on it and the Sleeve just Underworld - Dark & Long (not dark train or spoon deep)

the subscription disc comes in a Razormaid! custom sleeve in a jewel case - i don't think this item was released on Vinyl. You cannot order back copies of these, and the only ones in exsistnece, i think, belong to the dj's who paid for them....mostly Americans in the case of this service

Year of Release: 1994/5?

Current Price: £35+

Desirability: 8/10 - you want a different unavailable remix of Dark and Long...ok i'll take one - well this is it...

Availability: 1/10 - i have only ever seen one of these for sale...and i have it...it cost me £30+ when i bought it...i don't have the other CD, with mmm skyscraper, as i can't find it and have never seen anyone with it for sale, and i've not even seen another one of these for sale...i don't even think that many people know that these exist...but keep you eye out - because its a rare one!!!

I had that on mp3 a while ago - the mix was just ok really

..and I think that Skyscraper mix too

but again - as they were mp3's = worthless

btw - does anyone happen to have spare copies of any of the following promo's?
• Rowla 12" -> the one w/ the long version of the track
• Juanita cd single -> with the cool artwork and the short edit of the track
• KoS -> not sure of the full details even if it's cd/lp (or both) but it's got Rick's Bungalow mix... my favorite mix of KoS

The Juanita promo popsup now and then at the german ebay. The KoS promo 12" with Ricks mix I saw a couple of times in the last few months, can't remember in what country for now.

Collectable # 4: A Life Less Ordinary Soundtrack Sampler 12" - Pr 12 7691-1 (1997)

Selections from "a Life Less Ordinary"

4 track 12" promo only sampler - side one, track one: Underworld - Oh

'Oh' only appears on the soundtrack, to the moderatly received movie, a Life Less Ordinary, starring Ewan McGregor & Cameron Diaz. This soundtrack is available on London Records CD - but was never released on vinyl. This specific collectable is a promo only 12" and contains Oh, plus an REM track, a Sneaker Pimps track and a Folk Implosion track.

Considering that this Underworld track does not appear on any other format or album, and does not appear on Underworld's label, its a pretty unique collectable. 'Oh' is one of those tracks, some people don't really know it, others who do, hate it, and some, like me, quite like it.

If you wanna catch it watch the movie and its the music playing while Ewan's character quits his job, or just buy the CD soundtrack which is pretty good...but if you want this Underworld track on Vinyl you have to buy this US only issued sampler 12" in an FFRR / London Records sleeve.

Year of Release: 1997

Current Price: £12-£15

Desirability: 7/10 - you can get this track on CD, but its not on any other album and is only available on vinyl on this 12"

Availability: 5/10 - i've not seen one come up for a while but they are not that rare, and i suppose REM fans want this collectable also, so if you want a rare Underworld track on vinyl hunt it down.

Collectable # 5: Underworld - 1992 - 2002 - German V2 Logic Promo 2 x CD with Picture CD's - LC 01801

Tracks:

Disc 1
1. Big Mouth - 10'07
2. Dirty - 11'37
3. Mmmm Skyscarper I Love You - 13'14
4. Rez - 9'58
5. Spikee - 12'30
6. Dirty Epic - 9'59
7. Dark & Long (Dark Train) 10'51

Disc 2
1. Cowgirl - 8'29
2. Born Slippy - 7'34
3. Pearls Girl - 9'39
4. Jumbo - 9'12
5. Push Upstairs - 6'10
6. Moaner - 10'21
7. King Of Snake - 9'30
8. Eight Ball - 8'55
9. Two Months Off - 9'10

This album was never officially known as the Anthology, the compilation spanning the years 1992-2002 features all the major hits of Underworld, it is popularly know by this name, and one of the promo versions even refers to it as the 'Anthology', but the official title is "1992-2002"

The tracklisting and tracks are not 'unique' to any version - the 16 tracks are the same on whatever album you buy, but there are subtle difference in the releases, and perhaps the best version is this one, released on German promo, which, not only features differing track lengths, but also a unique picture cover CD, albeit a paper image stuck on the CD-R, its a nice item to have...

This promo features a longer version of Dirty - 11'37, compared to the UK promo version which is 9'47 & the 10'18 version on the UK commercial CD.

Dark & Long (Dark Train) is 10'53 long, which is the same length of the UK commercial CD, but oddly enough, both these versions are 30 seconds longer than the UK promo

The version of Born Slippy is 7'33 long and is the same as every other version, except the UK promo which has an 11'32 version

Most uniquely to this CD promo version, though, is the 9'12 version of Jumbo...3'13 seconds longer than the version on any other format.

Push Upstairs and Moaner are the same as every other release except for the UK promo, which has shorter versions...

Oddly the the most unique thing about this promo is the 9'12 Jumbo version, which as far as i know has never been released anywhere else in this long form...(except...) All of the other 'odd' track lengths can be found elsewhere...

I have since acquiring this version on promo, discovered that there is an Argentinian commercial released version of this album, on CD with the exact same track times, including Jumbo at 9'12...and as such I expect there to be other commercial versions out there with the longer Jumbo...so get hunting...

And as unique this promo is, the UK promo version, is also worth getting hold of because of the different tracks lengths on it as well - compared to the UK commercial release, the promo has Moaner, Push Upstairs, Born Slippy, Pearls Girl, Dark & Long (Dark Train) & Dirty with all different track lengths to the commercial release (although not exclusive to this promo)

Now most people have the standard commercial formats, whether on Cd or Vinyl, but it is certainly worth tracking down the UK promo CD or this unique German promo CD, for alternate versions of your favourite Underworld tracks.

Year of Release: 2003

Current Price: £30+

Desirability: 9/10 - well for one track Jumbo - its worth getting hold of...also the picture CD images are unique to this promo - so grab it if you ever see one...(good luck:)

Availability: 1/10 - the only one i knwo of i have, but idoubt that thats the entire stock, check ebay - it may come up - but is likely to disappear quickly....

Thanks for the heads up, BSS. I'll keep that in mind when I go hunting for a copy of this compilation.

BTW, the only Underworld rarity that I can lay claim to is the Scandinavian 6-track Dark & Long CD single. Do you have it?

well there are several versions of the Anthology:

the UK promo CD:

which contains different track times (as mentioned previously) and running order of tracks: Pearls Girl comes before Born Slippy Nuxx on disc 2

the German promo CD:

as deatiled already (this is the same as the argentinian CD release)

the UK commercial released CD:

this comes in two package types and i assume both are the same in terms of tracks...which are different to the UK promo (one jewel case one limited card case). This CD is the same CD as issued in Taiwan

the Japanese commercial released CD:

there are two versions in Japan - a double CD set - which may or may not be the same as the UK commercial release and the same set but one that comes with the bonus dvd of 5 videos (i don't have either of these commercial versions so don't know what the track lengths are)

the Japanese promo CD:

this is actually the same as the German promo with the longer version of Jumbo....and it is quite possible that the Japanese commercial releases have the longer Jumbo on them...so if you have a Japanese commercial release check it out for a 9:12 version of Jumbo

the UK vinyl box set:

i have not been able to check the times of the vinyl yet...but assume they to be similar to the UK commercial CD, although it may be that some of the tracks have been edited to fit two per side of the 4 vinyls (such as mmm skyscraper?)

the US commercial released CD:

i have not come across a US version of this CD but they do exist and assume again that they are the same as the UK commercial versions...

but if anyone knows any different let me know...

( i do have a spreadsheet of the times of all the formats that i have which details all 6 Cd's and the vinyl )

its too expansive to fit on a website but if you want a copy i can email it to you - pm...(its very dull ;) )

cheers

Collectable # 6: Underworld - Everything Everything HMV AVCD Sampler (Universal / V2) (No Cat Number)

Tracks:

1. Computer Data Not Readable
2. Cowgirl (music video)
3. Push Upstairs (music video)
4. Everything Everything - DVD EPK
5. Cowgirl (bedrock mix) - 11:30
6. Cowgirl (futureshock mix) - 9:30

This is an odd little promo item which i think came from Japan. Its an instore HMV item - issued to HMV stores in Japan to promote the forthcoming album, afaik.

It comes in a sealed paper sleeve, with a titled sticker on the back and it features the above tracks.

Now its nice to have the cowgirl and push upstairs videos on digital format, but i can't seem to access the files on this CD, so cannot be sure what videos these are (they may be the live versions from EE or just the originals). (i'm not sure what format they are in - so if i can access them, i will get back to you).

The Everything Everything DVD EPK was available with the UK EE promo interview disc CD. (This is a simple DVD Electronic Press Kit - basically detailing the bands history, and promotional stuff for the EE release).

The audio tracks and the uniqueness of the packaging are what really makes this CD important for this rare Underworld item.

The exact same Bedrock remix of Cowgirl is available on the Cowgirl Live CD single set, as is a version of the Futureshock remix at 8:26 long. However the Futureshock version on here is 9:30 long and is only otherwise found on the very rare UK 3 track promo CD single.

If you do come across one of these little items its worth picking up, just for the sheer oddness of its existence, with its HMV graphics on the disc & sticker.

There were very few Everything Everything promo items, apart from the UK Interview CD, the Cowgirl credit card sized CD rom and this - nothing else appeared as far as i know (there are a few paper items, posters, stickers, flyers, t-shirts, bags etc, but not much else in respect of 'musical' items).

Year of Release: 2000

Current Price: £15+

Desirability: 6/10 - everything on here can be acquired elsewhere, but as a package together its quite nice...and if you can't get the 9:30 version of Futureshock's Cowgirl on the UK CD promo - this is another outlet for it. And the (HMV) artwork on the disc (and sticker) is different to anything that you may have in your Underworld collection already. Its just unique in its existence.

Availability: 3/10 - i've not seen any others of these, but assume that there must be one for each HMV store in Japan....don't know how many that is or if any more got 'released' to the public...i got mine off ebay...but i think its pretty rare. Try and find it if you can.

regarding the razormaid! stuff...

i always thought they were merely bootleggers. i mean, their remixes are nothing more than cut-up and mashed up versions of the original tracks...i have a few of their cds, including one with a leftfield track (original, i think), and the mix is just a couple of the versions of "original" mashed together...

i don't think they were ever a serious remixing team, really...

Collectable # 7: Underworld - mmm...skyscraper i love you (boys own CD) (BOICD 13)

Tracks:

1. mmm...skyscraper i love you
2. mmm...skyscraper i love you - telegraph 6.11.92
3. mmm...skyscraper i love you - jam scraper

a simple commercially released CD...yet, the first NON promo item in this selection...and so far, its our most expensive collectable covered...

why?

well the tracks are quite easily found on the 12" single, which fetches £15-£25 at the moment, or on various bootleg 12"'s...

and, track 1. features on CD on the Anthology (1992-2002) album, in its entirety....but this CD is a real rarity and fetches silly money on ebay, for what should be a £15 CD.

why then so rare...well...its the cd digital quality of the tracks, two of which are exclusive to this release (CD or 12")...and

Boys Own, part of London Records...were specifically a vinyl outfit...and prior to this release had not issued anything on CD...this was in 1993, and dance music was, in general, still a majorly vinyl business, so issues on CD were very rare...and hence this is one of the rarest items of Underworld collectables...and it is basically Underworld's first release to the wider world. (its also the first Underworld item to appear with a picture cover...previously all 'promo' / 'other' releases were in plain sleeves)

i'm not sure how many copies of this were pressed, but Boys Own in 1993, were only 2 years old and so were still in the early phases of issuing records...so its probably pretty limited for a commercially available single...

in essence this is the most collectable non promo release Underworld have put out...

Year of Release: 1993

Current Price: £50- £100 (depending upon where you get your copy)

Desirability: 10/10 - everyone wants this one on CD, everyone who doesn't have on that is...(fortunately i got mine recently in the past two months for £15)...even the numberonesuperfan didn't have this until recently...but i didn't wanna pay too much for it...you can get it if you look hard enough

Availability: 5/10 - they do come up on ebay...and occasionaly in record stores, of the second hand variety, generally for about £25-£35 so thats your best bet, but ebay is easier but much more expensive...its your choice

Picture:

Collectable # 8: Underworld - Mother Earth / The Hump - Tomato 12" PLUM 2001

Tracks:

1.i. - mother earth (fm mix)
1.ii. - mother earth
2.i. - the hump (wild beasts)
2.ii. - the hump (groove without a doubt)

probably the most sought after Underworld collectable by mainstream fans...simply because it is considered the first Underworld Mark II release

ie. the first release since they ditched their goth / rock outfits and pursued dance music. Its pretty unlikey that Darren Emerson had any input on Mother Earth, since its almost certainly left over from the old Mark I Era days, as it appears on a recording way back in 1990...but despite that its still a popular track and does appear on the Mark II dubnobass album as M.E. (Mother Earth - geddit?). (Darren is also not creditted on ME)

Its the flip side - The Hump - that is the reason that this vinyl is so exclusive....its only available on this 12" and there are two mixes...and not only that there were only 500 copies pressed on the bands own Tomato record label...i know of at least one copy being broken...so that makes 499 out there (see the who has the hump (http://) poll thread to add to the list of owners)

its just rare - simple as that...a test outing for the boys, on their own label, Darren's first forray with Rick as Steppin Razor, remixing the track, (whether he had any input in the original track is open to conjecture or Darren saying so ;) )

The Vinyl comes in a plain black record sleeve - and has typical tomato fonts & graphics on the label...you will note however the existence of the OLD Underworld logo being used - left over from the MK I days...

a super record and a must have for any fan, but they rarely come up for sale so happy hunting...

(other points of note: the run out groove on the Mother Earth side contains the text 'A Hole in the Back of the Sun', and on The Hump side, the text 'Dog Man Go Woof')

Year of Release: 1992

Current Price: £100+ (the last one on ebay went for £104)

Desirability: 10/10 - simply a must have

Availability: 1/10 - well, the 7 or so people who claim to have this already won't be letting it go - for any money....that leaves about 490 out there, but good luck finding one...i only got mine 5 years ago and i've been collecting since 1992, but that's the thrill of collecting, finding an elusive collectable...

2.ii. - the hump (groove without a doubt)

probably the most sought after Underworld collectable by mainstream fans...simply because it is considered the first Underworld Mark II release

there were only 500 copies pressed on the bands own Tomato record label...i know of at least one copy being broken...

Who broke that copy?! WHO DID SUCH A THING?!

i for one would simply like to hear this. Other than the old one-minute clips on dirty.org, i've never heard "The Hump" or "M.E. fm mix" in their entirety. Does anyone have an mp3 (lo-fi, hi-fi, whatever) that they could hook a dirt up with? Bless you!

Collectable # 9: Underworld - A Hundred Years - Promo CD (V2) No Cat Number

Tracks:

1. No Move 6'53
2. Two Months Off 9'07
3. Twist 6'24
4. Sola Sistim 6'26
5. Little Speaker 8'36
7. Ess Gee 2'20
8. Dinosua Adventure 3D 7'55
9. Ballet Lane 3'39
10. Luetin 7'00

please note: this is how the tracks are listed on the CD (and do not include any spelling mistakes)

there is not a great deal different about this CD, the track listing and track times are exactly the same as the standard issued 'A Hundred DAYS Off', but this CD Promo must have been one of the first off the presses...as it 'was' labelled 'A Hundred Years', both on the Slip Notes & CD

The Inner Slip Sleeve, which details

the Artist : Underworld
the title : A Hundred Days Off*
the track listing: (as spelled above)

* this is a sticker over the top of the original title ' A Hundred Years ' - the proposed original title for the Album...which had obviously been corrected in time for this to be issued to DJ's

it wasn't a typo, thats for sure, because on the CD-R itself the words 'A Hundred Years' can be seen clearly through a hurridely crossed out black mark, and no new name has been added...it just reads

UNDERWORLD
A Hundred Years (sribbled through)
10 Tracks

and these have been printed on the white CD-R, and not written on, so it muct have been a last minute change...

well its rare for the fact that its a 'released' item with incorrect details that have been corrected, and proof that A Hundred Days Off was not the original title, until the last minute....

i've not seen or heard of any other versions with miss labelled info on them, unless you lot know any different....

Year of Release: 2002

Current Price: £30+

Desirability: 5/10 - one for the collector freaks ;)

Availability: 1/10 - sorry, but i reckon that i must have the only copy, unless anyone knows any better...there must be some mastered versions out there with different mixes...surely...and some labelled incorrectly and not corrected?

Collectable #1: A Hundred Days Off Sampler CD (V2DJ-27142-2)

Collectable # 10: Underworld - A Tomato Project: Kiteless

Video (Tracks):

1. rez - directed by rob shackleton
2. spikee - directed by graham wood
3. spoonman - directed by graham wood
4. dark train - directed by graham wood / john hollis
5. most 'ospitable - directed by graham wood / dirk van dooren
6. cowgirl - directed by graham wood / rob shackleton
7. oich oich - directed by graham wood

This is a UK released Tomato based project of Underworld videos, published by Sherlock Holmes Music & Warner Chappell Music U.S., in 1994

All Cover Art is done by Tomato, as are the video visuals - sound by Junior Boys Own - who obvioulsy own the recordings of the music, which is all Underworld

This rare Issued UK Video Compilation album, is simply the first seven tracks of the more comprehensive Footwear Repairs Video. Which features five more tracks, but this came first, and is not only a showcase of the bands Musical output, but their video graphics too...

Whereas Footwear Repairs was mainly aimed US auidences, this was solely issued in the UK, for UK video machines!

It is pretty rare and i don't think was available for general public purchase - i can't remember where i got my copy (ebay probably) but if you do see one and still have a video machine its worth picking up for the original early videos

Year of Release: 1994

Current Price: £25-£35

Desirability: 10/10 - well until they release a comprehensive video DVD (if ever), this or Footwear Repairs is all we have of Underworld on Video, and although Footwear Repairs is more comprehensive, its US only format (please lobby Underworld to get these on DVD - they need to be shown in a better format!)

Availability: 4/10 - well i don't know of many people who have this, maybe Tomato only issued these exclusively to showcase their work, i don't think it was commercially available, so its pretty hard to get these days - buy it if you see it

well - none of the videos are single edits (I am not sure which edit of Dark Train it is though...)

and there are even bits between the videos

so it's at elast a half hour

I have the kiteless vid, which i think was available from the old underworld merchandise service (run by Jukes Productions?). maybe it was called "underworld things" is that right? i deffo got it mail order and it was deffo available pre-ebay to a secondary-super-fan like myself!

it's a great vid for the collection as matt said. havent watched it for ages and am now itching to get back home to put it on! There's lots of stuff between songs, including (i think) some vocal snippets of oich-oich as i recall (mmm perhaps one of you producer types should sample these and do a remix).

Collectable # 11: Simply Red - Thrill Me (Remixes)

Cat Number: SAM 1020

Estimated Number Pressed / Made: 300-500

Tracks:

Side One
1. The Masters at Work House Mix (6.10)
2. The Masters at Work Mix (5.22)

Side Two
1. The Masters at Work 7" Mix (4.03)
2. The Masters ar Work Bonus Beats (3.06)

Side Three
1. Steppin' Razor Ambient Mix (5.12)
2. Steppin' Razor Mix (6.36)

Side Four
1. Steppin' Razor Ambient Instrumental Mix (13.55)

Promo only doublepack 12" set, on East West Records in an East West Records custom sleeve - this package contains remixes not available anywhere else.

Although not particularly fashionable amongst collectors, this Simply Red item is sought after by both Underworld and Masters at Work fans alike

A couple of the MAW mixes are available elsewhere, as is the shortest UW remix, but the remaining tracks are only available on this 12" doublepack set, which i believe was issued in only 300 copies, but as i've had about 6 pass through my hands over the years that may be a bit tight an estimate...

either way its still a nice rare item with 'unreleased anywhere else' tracks, remixed by Darren Emeron and Rick Smith as Steppin' Razor, and if you like your minimal ambient chill stuff then get this simply for the 13 minute mix, which also includes minimal amounts of Mick Hucknall, which is something to be thankfull for...

(there is an import promo white lable 12" which i think is a bootleg, that comes in a plain black sleeve with a sticker / label on it, which contains these UW mixes too, it has the same cat number and looks kinda official, but i'm sure its not - this is as hard to find, imo, but is an alternative source of these tracks on vinyl)

Year of Release: 1993

Current Price: £20-£40

Desirability: 7/10 - completist need this and its in a short print run, but its pretty early ambient chill stuff, not your typical Underworld remix, so its one for the collection, but not necessarily one for playing too often....

Availability: 5/10 - it used to come up pretty often, but i haven't seen one for a while, simply red are really not that collectable, so i reckon all of these must be owned by Underworld or MAW fans, watch out for split copies, which have been sold as single 12" to MAW & UW fans...these are ok to own just for the music but are pretty worthless as a collectable....

Collectable # 12: 'UNDERWORLD' BEANIE HAT

Cat Number: N/A

Estimated Number Pressed / Made: N/A

Tracks: n/a

...

well this is simply a black woollen beanie hat with the 'Underworld' logo attached to the front (similar to a small patch), and was available for a limited time when UW toured at around the time of AHDO. I bought mine at the Brixton Academy gig for about £12.

no one seems to mention that they have one, and i've never seen one for sale anywhere else (i.e. ebay) so i assume its pretty hard to come by now, like most UW apparrel, of which i might follow up on shortly in the next installment

Year of Release:@2000

Current Price: @£20

Desirability: 6/10 - its pretty nice and practical and doesn't look stoopid ether, and I sometimes ever wear mine!!! A nice neat small collectable

Availability: 5/10 - as i said its pretty hard to find, no one sells it and it uses the UW AHDO font stylings, so some may be in existence still, as this was the last album really, but as no one seems to be selling these i think its pretty hard to get...

[notable track]

this is a pretty good compilation,
however, it is known for one rare
exclusive underworld remix.

Spooky (Schmoo Dub) remix by d. emerson and r. smith

although underworld has done 2 other remixes of
this tracks, available on vinyl, and a rarer
cd-single (will comment on this later)..

this remix is different and exclusive to this release.

[current price/etc]

i dont think its that rare, and is pretty easy to
find via ebay, and other online stores..

i got mine fairly cheap. make sure you get
volume 2, as their are other volumes.

the track itself is not bad, as far as
ambient, chill tracks go.

its been overlooked though.
