Any idea around what time they might go on? If they on go at noon GMT, that will be 7am in the eastern US and 4am on the west coast. Might be nice to know so we can set our alarms accordingly if necessary.

not that i need one, but will the auction be set so that people can't buy up loads...?

just i don't want to see the people missing out because anyone can buy three or four....although i suspect that with a title like that those in the know will be the only ones getting hold of these...

It should be 7am EST, 6am CST, 5amMST and 4amPST. Which reminds me, my time seems to be off from the time listed on the boards here. I have set the proper time zone but the time seems to be about 20 slower on the board. Does anyone else see this or is it just my settings?

I wonder if the listing is going to be an automated event where the listing appears at exactly noon GMT or if they will just be listed around noon. Is is possible to have a listing on ebay show up at a precise time? Just one more thing for me to worry about as I have to leave for work around then so I hope it is not much later than noon.

Ok, the pilot in me just thought of daylight savings time. Normally CST is GMT-6 but now the central time zone with daylight savings time (CDT) is GMT-5... so adjust charleswise's time and add one hour if your location observes daylight savings time.

Any questions? :)

According to http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/:

Great Britain is one hour ahead of UTC during summer

The difference between London and New York City is 5 hours. My numbers should still be good.

Damn! And I felt all smart catching a mistake... I was not aware that Great Britain was one hour ahead during the summer as well, as that website shows. I blame my own ignorance and a small world view. Listen to Charleswise, he sounds like he knows what he's talking about. My apologies.

This is so cool to give dirts another shot at those CD's. Good luck all! :)

wow. i missed it too. wtf.

its great that these are being distributed at all, but i have to say, wtf good is it selling them on ebay if they are only listed for a few hours? its not like the resellers are seeing that brief period and saying, "damn, better not resell mine at a high price cuz ebay is flooded with them"

in fact, its more reason for them to list at a high price being that the demand is so friggin huge.

Kinda sad that one user purchased 4 cds and another runs an ebay shop that sells cds. Hope they had honorable intentions when they bought these.

Charleswise, that asshole was me, but I'm not even sure I'll get all 4! Anyway, I hope I didn't offend anyone; I can assure that those 3 extra copies won't end up on Ebay for ridiculous prices; they are for friends who were working today ('in the field', no internet connection available), and they're real UW fans, believe me.

charleswise
04-12-2006, 09:39 AM
Just something I noticed when looking at the winning bidders list. This is not meant to offend anyone on the board if it applies to them so if it does, let me know and I will edit this post.

They weren't listed for a few hours -- the discs were listed for a week or until they were all sold; the 50 that went up just didn't take all that long to go.

I think this was handled very well: an obscure auction title, a couple of days warning about the auction, and a specific time when they'd become available. In retrospect I have to say that even selling them via eBay was a very good choice because it makes how and when they were sold very transparent: you can see who bought how many and exactly when they were sold, and eBay very carefully manages the security and timing of auctions so we know that info is accurate.

As it seems it's mainly our friends across the Atlantic that have lost out here, and I suspect largely because of the auction coming on at 4am, maybe Yannick and friends can start the next auction at a time more suitable for our Yank buddies. Just a thought, nothing approaching a complaint. And I sincerely hope that everyone who missed out today gets lucky on the next run. It's not like Glasto tickets anyway, just get to a PC shortly after the listing starts and you'll be well in. So no whinging.

I set a reminder in my Outlook calendar today. Thank you Bill Gates.

oh i know. trust me, ive thanked yannick for MANY things on MANY MANY occassions :P

im just trying to think of the best way to do this. putting them on ebay does the following:

1) allows people to buy mult. copies.
2) limits it to a certain time
3) opens it up to random non-dirts getting these discs.

its not like they were gonna be listed for weeks so that enterprising resellers would see them and decide otherwise. basically, 100+ people said they wanted discs. why not just sell them directly to the 100+ people and cut this nonsense out?

dubman
04-12-2006, 11:05 AM
i dont even mind it being at 4 am. i can stay up until 4 am. it's just that, well, i was a guest that day and it wouldnt have been right to rumble downstairs and wake 4 other peole up (including my girlfriend) just so i can nab something (that admittedly i want very badly) that i can *plan* to get on the next batch.

though i suspect i'll have to be quick. if 12 are sold in the first minute, now that word'll get around to a second auction that number could likely spike.

put on your (bid) war face

so when's the next round? eh?

Finally we arrived at 13:10 (after some nasty traffic jams), i jumped out of the car, ran with my father's laptop to their telephone trying to set up an ancient analog modem internet connection.:p That took me nearly 10 minutes, when i saw there were only 15 left, and i got one!

Whew!

Those that do have it, how do you compare it to other live bootlegs and Everything, Everything?

Well, this is so far the only high-quality 3 hour live recording there is. And since this is directly from the soundboard the quality is very good indeed. Of course, EE was a fully produced and mastered album so that may sound superior, but it's only about an hour long. EE is more polished (no mistakes), there are a couple of mistakes in this show to remind you that it's actually live :)

what's convoluted?
it was so fuckin' straightforward that shit was gone in an hour 15.
it's simple. 50 now, take a break, sell another 50 later with an obscure number just for dirty folk. granted *some* non-members will be there to take those precious few, but that's what an advance warning and link-providing gets you. remember when this was exclusive to those who were there? remember that they decided to start selling them when ebay prices went past 200, and then went and *organized* selling an extra 100?
nothing's stopping nobody, but you think of a system where people could actually be stopped. a PM system means that everyone who's watching this will just create BS registrations. a dirty-only event does the same thing...

just get on the freakin' ball already...

what's convoluted?

convoluted is a system where we have to declare via a poll IF we are going to buy the item, then wait 3 weeks to find out a date (no time mind you) when the items are going to be released on a third party site, then have to check the forums again to find out they were released at 5am and that they are in fact, all gone.

simple is a system where you click a link on Dirty or UWlive, and purchase the cds. No guess work, no waiting and hoping that you hit refresh quick enough or stayed up all night.

Pototobroth: this is sounding more and more like sour grapes from you. The only persons fault it is for not getting a CD set is yours. Yannick said when they would be onsale and gave us the link. The only thing that made it a pain in the arse was the fact that midday UK time is pretty damn awkward for people in the Americas.

I got mine in the first auction of 10, but I do remember that 8 hours later, in the evening UK time another 10 was made available. Maybe this time the auction for the next 50 will be at a more favourable time.

"simple is a system where you click a link on Dirty or UWlive, and purchase the cds. No guess work, no waiting and hoping that you hit refresh quick enough or stayed up all night." and that would also be selling them through an official channel which I believe would be against the terms of the original Electraglide agreement. These are being sold through Mal's personal ebay account which in all probability neatly sidesteps any legal wrangles.

really? i thought this was underworld selling them and not us. and if its us, where the heck did we come up with 100+ more cds? are these just burned copies? if thats the case then yeah sell them how you want.

and believe it or not, this isnt sour grapes. you got one of the first ten, no doubt, because you knew about it ahead of time. i have no problem with that. i know yannick is doing all he can to get them in our hands, trust me i do. its the manner of doing this that i dont like. there are just so many unecessary steps and luck involved. if thats the intention, then so be it. but to say its my fault i didnt get one when they sold out so fast isnt fair really. using this method, not all of us are going to get one.

Its entirely feasible that the unsold CDs were returned to the Tomato offices in the UK.

As for being told about it ahead of time, i was told about it by Karl via his underworldlive.com picture to keep an eye on ebay. I was looking every day and spotted that they were on sale. In fact, I even said to myself that these must be more people bootlegging it again. 6 copies of the 10 had already gone and I got one of the last 4 and told the dirties in close proximity to me to get the other three. I'm just the person who cleans the shit up around here and I don't get any preferential treatment.

Things are not getting more and more difficult round here in the acquiring of music. With Riverrun you didnt even have to leave the house to buy it. Its just because the Japanese got their exclusives with 2 items. The JAL EP and the Tokyo 3CD, one was to promote Electraglide and the other was a souvenir of Electraglide.

Underworld didnt have to make these CDs available to us, but they gone out of their way to try to make sure that dirties have got them and by and large, they have in 80-90% of the cases. I suspect that if you dont get one next week it will be either because you didnt get out of bed in time again, or are still here moaning.

Jeez, we are lucky to be able to get our hands on this thing at all!

It was released as an Electraglide-only thing, and UW and the Lemonworld bods and everyone else involved has bent over backwards to make sure that the real fans are able to get their hands on a copy. I was fortunate to get my hands on a rip of them early in the day. I was also fortunate* enough not to be working the day the first 10 showed up on eBay and was able to purchase it straight away.

But hey, maybe if you whine enough, Rick and Karl will have one personally delivered to your door with a crate of Crystal, a kilo of caviar and a sprinkling of the fairy dust that you assume everyone else around here possesses and you don't!

no, its more like saying: a bunch of people had advance word to buyng a laptop 2 months ago and got a very small release of them. and some other people, who use a fan forum of said laptop, were asked "hey, who wants to buy this laptop when it comes out?" and many replied, "why I would like to buy this laptop." well you have to wait and hope you actually get one because we're really not suppossed to be selling them anyway, but we are so there are some available, but only to those that were in the right place at the right time. and all the while, some people are selling these laptops are quadruple the cost and thus, causing drastic measures by the laptop forum people to try and combat it.

i understand i dragged this out way too far, and for that i apologize. but it doesnt change the fact that things, to me, seem like they are getting a lot more complicated in regards to dirty. maybe im wrong, and really i admit i might be, but that doesnt change the fact that it seems that way to me.

using this method, not all of us are going to get one.

mr. potatobroth has a point. I for one was fortunate enough to get one of these (anxiously awaits a package in the mail ). One thing I will say though, is if the CD was available by regular channels (i.e. UW website, etc...) , although it would then be available to all, then it wouldn't be as much an item for the superfan such as myself and no doubt yourself and most, if not all on the dirtylist. That being said, those of us that do obtain a copy (whether by keeping to date with the forums, or spending insane amounts of money) will have something we can consider special and rare - making us super UW fans.

I myself am primarily a collector of music, rather than hats and t-shirts and flyers and unused concert tix, but there are just some things that you have to own in physical, tangeableness. I d/l this show long before I found out about copies being sold - yet I still purchased it, because the mp3's alone just didn't give me that pride of ownership - sure this is just a 3CD live concert. But that's what sets us apart from the novices when it comes to UW.

hmmm, despite being a music collector, I really need to get me a pair of them UW Adidas...

The whole point is, this CD is not, and never has been, and was never intended to be, available through normal channels.

It was a promo item associated with Electraglide only.

Do you really think that if it were possible for the band to release this in the way you describe, they would refuse to do so just to piss us all off? Look at the history of this release, look at the steps that have been taken to satisfy Dirts.

you'd still be complaining that you didn't know the exact time that the link was going to be put on uwlive so when it was, all the available copies were sold out anyway before you realised. There's absolutely zero difference with the ebay approach as long as there's going to be a limited number of items to sell. Except maybe that these ebay auctions are deliberately "hidden" from view so as to give people visiting dirty as much chance as possible to get them, whereas with a link on uwlive anyone could see it and they would be gone even quicker.

My reason for obtaining a copy of this show was to feel like I was a part of it somehow (although I wasn't clearly as I was on the other side of the globe). dirtyradio is blocked from where i work so there's that.

crazy bids on ebay are a direct result of people on here saying how frigging great this show is, and the complete lack of options to obtain it. at first, there were those that had the mp3s and those that didnt. those that had said, "its not for sharing" at first. that annoyed those who didnt have - big thread on this. on dirts word alone, i would have spent way too much trying to get this 3cd set. but luckily a dirt came to my rescue and he/she is super awesome! i got the mp3s and played them to death. i still do. now i dont NEED the discs, but i have this weird desire to own them like i do other underworld stuff. i dont mind paying for their music even if ive just been handed perfect mp3s. if i got these discs, chances are i would still only play the mp3s that i own, but i still want a set as do lots of dirts here.

not all of us are gonna get the ebay sets. not all of us can get dirty radio in regular intervals. not all of us live in japan to go to the show. but ALL of us want to hear and/or own this set. its amazing. it just kinda sucks how hard it is to obtain it.

I think it was clear from the very beginning that there was only a limited number of these discs made and that they were specifically meant to be sold at Electraglide. All subsequent events can be retraced to those two facts. I really don't see how you could have missed that, but if you did, fair enough. I guess it explains the way you reacted to the whole thing. You've allso been continuesly implying that people who managed to get this cd earlier had some kind of advance warning from secret sources which is just not true. Most of us were just lucky. It's not about things being easy to say. It's about this being the only possibly reaction. You have to wait for your chance because that's what everyone else did too. Soem people will always be at the right place and the right time when you are not. Another time it may be the other way around.

The cds were made available to the visitors to electraglide only. Both tokyo and osaka. I heard that there were quite long queues to get them though. even though they were onsale at osaka, it was still the tokyo recording. Underworld/Electraglide had to make an estimate of how many people were likely to buy them and these are the ones left. Never intended to be sold anywhere else. I think so far at least 100 have been sold, probably a little more. If you check the ebay sellers IDs you'll see a lot of dirties there.

Another 50 will be available next week so keep an eye on the forums. Maybe even this thread :)

KoS cleared up a LOT for me. And again, I misunderstood where these cds were coming from. I still have some stuff to say though :P

I easily missed the fact that there was a limited number for the simple reason that UW said these would ONLY be sold at Electraglide. I assumed they were repressing the disc to sell to dirts due to the incredibly overwhelming response they had to this disc. To me, its THAT good. It blows away EE and that was a store release. Elec. is THE live set to have if you like UW live sets. Its also confusing as to Yan's involvement with UW these days, so its hard to tell if its Yan selling discs via dirty, or Yan selling discs via UW. I assumed it was Yan selling discs via UW as a means to distribute more sets to the public. At no time did i assume these were leftovers.

The original 10 that were on ebay, sold by mal and yan i guess, were purchased by people that had advanced warning. how else would they have known to check ebay?

Its a shitty feeling for the people (again, im NOT saying for me because i have the high quality mp3s and have been enjoying this show for months now) that wont get them due to whatever reason they cant get them. its only a gifthorse to the select few that get them.

I know I had checked ebay a few times before I even knew about the ones here. I just searche dfor "underworld tokyo" hoping someone from japan may have an extra copy for sale. The few times one showed up, they usually sold for over $100 so I didn't get one. I did bid lower on a few though.

well, when the second batch goes for sale there will be over 100 copies sold primarily to dirts, so i don't think that quite classifies as a "select few". It is a gift horse in the sense that they are selling these cd's that were never originally intended to be sold outside of Electraglide in the first place.

That is complete bollocks. I was in the chatroom at the time one of the guys discovered them by trawling through eBay as usual, and there were only about 6 left at that stage, so I dunno who got the first four. Those of us in the room who could buy one at the time bought one. To begin with we really doubted they were originals - we thought someone had bootlegged a whole load and was taking the piss, so we were a bit wary until we realised that it was Mal from Lemonworld who was selling them. Bear in mind also that it was UK postage only, so some serious organising of postal addresses had to be done for a couple of non-UK Dirts that were in the room. End of story. No "advanced warning", no "conspiracy theory", no "preferential treatment", just a lot of UW geeks chatting amongst themselves who suddenly saw them and thought Christmas had come round again quickly.

Karl had hinted on UW Live to keep an eye on eBay, but in any event, hardcore fans check eBay at least once a day for items, and it just so happened that they were there. Nobody tipped anybody the wink.

So instead of moaning, maybe you could check out the Forum and check out eBay for yourself instead of expecting everything to be delivered to you on a silver platter.

Sorry if I sound ratty, but this row has been going on and on since November when the recording was first announced, and it always seems to be the same people whining.

"Why can't we have the disc outside Japan?"
"Why should people be allowed to sell it on eBay for extortionate amounts?"
"Why should people not share the mp3s through Dirty?"
"Why was I not in/why was my radio not working/why did a snowplough hit my car and prevent me from hearing the gig when it was broadcast?"
"Why have they all got a copy of this and not me when I want one?"
"Why, now that there are 100 available (and still 50 to be released) have I still not got one?"
"It's all so unfair and is a conspiracy!"

Coincidentally, it seems to be the whiners that don't have the disc yet.

Karma? ;)

BB, this didnt stem from me not getting the discs, like i said, i have a wonderful person *wink* to thank for the mp3s and im not trying to say, "gimme my discs!"

this stemmed from MY impression that things were getting overly complicated, overly collectorish, and overly for people in-the-know. again, this is my impression. this is no disrespect to yan or stimp or anyone else because hell, dirty does so much as it is. hopefully i am wrong and just outside the loop here and thus, very misinformed.

Let me state my side of things here, as you appear to believe that I have some inside knowledge. Karl made a message on his Underworldlive.com blog some time in late January I believe, about copies being made available on ebay and to watch ebay closely. Since that date thats what I did (I browse ebay regularly for Underworld stuff anyway). One day in February, about 4 or 5 pages in from my generic "Underworld" search I found the Tokyo CDs on sale by chance (they were on the 5th page back because it was ordered by Ending Soonest). There were 4 copies of the 10 left. So i got one (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Underworld-Live-in-Tokyo-November-2005-Triple-CD-set_W0QQitemZ4835835521QQcategoryZ307QQssPageNameZ WDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) (via my friend). In fact, I believe mark3 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=307&item=4835835400) was one of the first people to get one and he is a big Underworld collector who probably browses eBay every day and it paid off.

Now check the disclaimer in my signature, a statement I made way back in January (and please stop insinuating that I have inside knowledge. No, no offence taken but I'm just making my point). I guess you're just out-of-the-loop or misinformed. You don't have to be though, but keeping an eye on announcements here and not jumping to conclusions helps. Yannick does have direct contact with Underworld and passes on instructions when necessary. He is not selling any of the Tokyo CDs personally. The CDs are whats left of the one and only pressing made for the fans in Japan. When they're gone, they're gone. Which is why I hope the people who want one and havent got one yet make that extra special effort next week and get one. If you get up on time, you WILL get one. Its took about 1 hour for the 50 to go this time.

Ok, I haven nothing more to say in this thread (until maybe next week when the next batch go onsale).

this stemmed from MY impression that things were getting overly complicated, overly collectorish, and overly for people in-the-know. again, this is my impression. .

and again, it's been shown that you're wrong and you also dont pay very much attention. and you persist in re-iterating the same frustrations

i don't see how i was looking the gift horse in the mouth at all. i'm a very curious person, and like potatobroth (apparantly it is just the 2 of us) i was confused until basically KoS and stimpee's last few posts. it just didn't seem to make much sense going hidden like this etc, why they had only a hundred etc etc.

some of us didn't know and m aybe would have liked to know BB, and ya, if your blood pressure is getting high i don't personally like (or thing) that it is PB's or my fault...

Try reading the forum then - everything has been worked over time and time and time again for months now.

Here... (http://www.dirty.org/forums/showthread.php?t=1657)

Here... (http://www.dirty.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2041&highlight=tokyo)

and here... (http://www.dirty.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2744&highlight=tokyo)

And people keep asking the same questions time and again, and people keep getting the same answers time and again, but it just doesn't seem to sink in somehow. Maybe because some people just have an idea fixed in their head and just can't seem to take it in if it doesn't fit with their false conceptions.

So maybe some people think that by moaning on and on about this and picking holes in everything that is being done that it will somehow change reality?

I dunno. You tell me.

Just to add a little info here. Please read this on the official Electraglide site about the Underworld recording:

http://www.electraglide.info/en_html/news/uw2.html

Of particular note, "The 3CD set will only be made available to fans who have attended Electraglide 2005 and will not be available at any other time or from any other source."

The "hoops" I had to jump through to get this set were really very minor in consideration of the fact that this set was really only supposed to be available to people who attended the show. I did not have to go to Japan for the show, nor did I have to pay an exorbitant amount to someone who did make them part with their one copy (note the "one 3CD set per person" limitation).

Yes, you have to make some effort to get one. I even wrote a script that scraped the eBay pages every minute and paged me when one showed up. But for such a super limited set with such a great quality recording, it was worth the effort to me.

I am grateful every time I play it that the band made these leftovers available at original list price (approx. $30US), under the table, to the super hardcore fans. I'm tired of hearing complaints that the whole thing is so confusing and convoluted. If you actually put a little effort into it, it's not that hard. And right now, it's not exactly rocket science to get one:

1. Yannick posts that 50 copies will be available first-come, first-served on eBay at a fixed price at a specific time.
2. You log on to eBay at said time and purchase one.

I mean, how hard is that?

Finally, as to the number pressed, I had heard 7500 copies from somewhere, but don't remember where or if that source is reliable.

I’ve been reading this thread and… suddenly I feel in a writing mood…

Back in the very end of the 70’s to the beginning of the 80’s I was living in a small town in the south west of France (not the best place in the world at the time to get music from the UK…). I remember the fights to get some (old) copies of the NME or the Melody Maker (quite expensive for me at the time) just to be aware of what was out or newly released. Then, when I knew what I wanted, it was another fight to have this or that being found, ordered & delivered to the small town record shop where they didn’t even know the names of the bands (also, I had to convince a minimum of 4 other people for buying the same vinyls, as the record company or the distributor would not take the order for less than 5 copies…)

This process was lasting very long, I remember waiting sometimes months to finally get a, for instance, some records by New Order or Depeche Mode, or even a 12’’ by an obscure band called… Freur.

When I was lucky, there was a gig 2 or 300 kms away from my place, and after hours of negotiations with my parents (and if I had the money…) I was sometimes allowed to go to the gig… I don’t even speak about how to get the tickets in these times.

Once a year, I could manage to go to Paris (900 kms from where I lived), for 2 or 3 days, where were the only record shops where I could buy “easily” what I wanted (well…if they were not sold out). A goldmine for me but for the price of gold… and I was soooo happy.

And sometimes, in some open air marketplaces, some weird people were selling in a kind of hidden way (from the back of a car…) some bootlegs on these C90 tapes with a sound quality that would be called now inaudible.

In this time, fax machines, mobiles phones, laptops, internet & mp3 were just sci-fi, but if I remember well, the earth was not inhabited only by dinosaurs back then...

So, time changed a bit. I’ll write now about a band called Underworld, with its kind of community of superfans mainly here, in this board. This band, Underworld, in the last few months, updated their site, gave us hours of music (studio or live), were kind enough, just in case some people missed it, to re-upload in their site some “pre 2005 archive”, gave us also images (moving or fixed), made webcasts for us from their studio or even from gigs (and some of the webcasts were apparently very uneasy to settle…), and also… mmm?… we, the superfans, had to pay the tremendous amount of 10ÂŁ to get nearly 54 minutes in two parts of completely new and amazing music… and what else?… ah, yes, two batches of gigs in Europe and Japan, during which, minimum once every gig, Karl shouted something nice for the superfans, for listening, downloading, buying RRP or just being there… and?... also quite every day in their home page (and/or in the member section) there are few words or even sentences directly addressed to us, and not always in a cryptic way (anyway, just in case someone misses it, some people in this board is, generally right after, “decoding” it, repeating it, “did you see?”, “did you check it?”, “did you get?” etc etc… well, just in case, indeed… generally people with more than 500 posts… very easy to find…).

About the “Live in Tokyo” cd set, I remember I read Karl’s sentence about keeping an eye on eBay, and few time after I read here that the cds appeared. Believe it or not, but at the time, I never ever went on eBay. So, reading that the cds were there, I registered, struggled a bit with this paypal thing, of course I missed the 1st batch, then made a mistake with something I don’t know and apparently bought 2 sets instead of 1, someone instantly in this board wrote me that this wasn’t fair, I apologised, cancelled (or tried to…) my double order, missed another batch, tried again successfully and… finally received an email by Danielle saying that she’ll be very happy to send me the famous cd set in few days… which I got 3 days after, 27th February… I really believe that if somebody like me (a “n00b” if I learned well from this board) could get this cd set, everybody could have done the same, easily.

I’m buying music since 1975 (I was 10, and my 1st record was Kraftwerk’s Autobahn) and I can’t imagine spending one day without listening music, working or not. But I never saw or heard any band as close, nice and careful with their fans than Underworld, neither saw anything as fantastic as a gig by these people, and here by Underworld, I don’t speak only about R&K, but also about Danielle, Mike, Mal, Yannick and some other I probably don’t know, official or unofficial (including the “nearly-2000-posts-ones” in this board and a few others here…), and to these people I can’t imagine saying anything else than : a million thanks to make all this easy and possible, and for being so kind (and sometimes patient, I guess...). Nothing else, really.

So, reading this thread (and a few other occasionally…) I’m balancing between being very disappointed to utterly mad, and I can even feel a bit ashamed about what the people I named above could think when reading some of the posts here… maybe probably that they should do the only thing they didn’t do yet, like : putting the cds in a bag with few beers, taking a car, a train or a plane, and deliver the cds personally and only in each superfan hands and, of course, having a nice chat with him/her for an hour or so in front of a pint. Probably…

I hope this post was not too long… but even if I like Moaner a lot, moaners, sometimes, drive me mad… maybe I’m too old, or coming from a period where the words “easy”, “now”, “quick” or “click” were not very familiar in matters like gathering infos and acquiring music… Don’t know…

Thanks to everybody happy to read and write posts here, not complaining or moaning too much and re-reading their posts before saving them, imagining what these nice people at uwlive could feel when reading here.

VoilĂ*.

Ps : hope my English is not too poor… boring with a post that length…

please people read the thread already! Yannick specifically said that there will be TWO batches of 50 to go around this time. The second one will come after the easter break (so that's next week). Sorry but all the info is there if you just look for it.

That's not in the first post. I'm not going through a bunch of bullshit replies to find pertinent information. If there were meant to be two batches, ALL the information should have been in the first post. C'mon. This thread is huge!

another one too lazy to get his info straight. It's not in the first post no. But it is in Yannick's second post (http://www.dirty.org/forums/showpost.php?p=37221&postcount=11) (first post on page two!) that contains all the actual details of the ebay auction. Nice as it is to have the CDs, anyone who doesn't have them isn't missing out on 'artwork' etc. It's three discs with a single card insert, tracklisting available from underworldlive.com. Grab the mp3s if you can, best of luck with the next batch if you still want one!

Big thanks to Yann, Mal and anyone else who made this happen though.

Well maybe the reams of info this thread now contains will serve well to keep any future 'secret' ebay listings this way. Anyone who can be bothered to keep abreast of developments and actually read what's been posted here had as much chance as anyone of getting this release and hopefully anyone simply wanting to resell at huge profit will have been kept at bay.

by the way,
if anyone thinks there going to miss the
auction..

there are plenty of free sniper software,
and bidding sites, that let you enter the
information ahead of time..

so you don't actually have to be up at
the time the auction starts...however
you'll want to set the auction bidding
close to the start, since the auctions
tend to be over rather quickly..

I think, in all fairness to KoS, a lot of people are a bit fed up with the moaning that has been going on about these CD's since day one, and the constant questioning and requestioning of UW's motives, when all they are trying to do is keep the fans as happy as possible - see my earlier post for the number of threads that there has been on the subject of these CDs, and the amount of whining that has gone on about them since November. 5 months. It's getting exasperating now.

And unfortunately your question about the discs being sold in two batches, and "why wasn't it announced in the first place" came across as more of the same. So, unfortunately, in the scheme of things, you were tarred by the same brush.

Nothing elitist about it. As Stimpee has said before, none of us have a red telephone that lights up when Rick and Karl ring, we just glean our information from others, or speculate, or apply logical reasoning while trying to avoid conspiracy theory, and mostly we are right.

So no - no elitism here. Just some people who are tired of all the backbiting. :)

imagine for just one moment, that you of all people didn't get one. now imagine that you were one of the people that didn't have all the info sorted out prior to these auctions. i dont think the word moany would be too far off. and as for working for the cd's, that precisely what i meant about being convoluted. to all of your praise though, i admitted that i had all sorts of information incorrectly understood and i apologized for that part of it.

but from my point of view, these cds were being repressed(reburned?) so that the dirts that wanted them could get them. when you post a thread that solely says, "which dirts want these cds" thats how i take it. thus, my general confusion with why we had to go the ebay route. then i was told - in this very thread - that the only reason we went the ebay route was to deter resellers which contradicts listing the auction names as some random string of numbers -- deterring nothing! its been a confusion for me, and feel free to attack me (not you BSS :)) for being "another one too lazy to get his info straight." (which btw, is kinda insulting, dontcha think?) but it happens. i was confused on a few points here that just weren't cleared up in this thread, maybe they were in dirtychat or rtsr, but certainly not here until hours before the auctions started.

so when people have questions, just give them clear answers instead of sending them off to decypher the same confusing stuff that i errantly tried to.

This is a fair point. BUT, posting a question implies that it hasn't already been asked or explained in previous posts! If you get confused or mix up the details, that's too bad. The excuse is usually "i don't have time to weed through 16 pages of posts to get my answer!" Well, guess why this and other threads gets long? Pages and pages of reply/rebuttal/you said/i meant/eat-my-shorts kinds of responses! But it takes mere seconds to see which posts are useful and which can be skipped. That minimal effort will get everyone the info they seek.

Regarding the CDs...UW has been ultra generous and the folks around here have made every possible effort to keep everyone happy and satisfied. How many times does this need said? the plans were all posted and people were anxiously awaiting the next ebay sale. Let's not get all pissy and start calling people "moaners" (;) ) or "elitists". Remember, "you can't always get what you want, but if you TRY sometimes, you get what you need". No one Needs a limited edition UW concert. They're nice, sure, but can we keep perspective, dirts? :)

haha yeah imagine ;)

But i do have one and i acquired my CD one way...

As a massive fan, i sought out several routes for getting one of these CDs as soon as i knew it was available - way before there was even talk of Underworld based auctions, and had they not gone on ebay (from UW staffers), i would have bought one of the expensive over priced ones probably, as it was i was lucky to get one...but you do what you gotta do:

I read these forums every day, i check ebay every day, i chat on the message boards fairly frequently, i have enough friends here that would probably tell me about something like this also...i would have come across it and made damn sure i was there at 12:00 when the acution started, in fact i was and watched as they all disappeared, like the first time the guys at the lemon put these for sale...

i did initially moan myself about the fact that these CD's were being sold in Japan only to concert goers, but regardless of that fact - i would have still tried to get hold of one...even if it took some time

Underworld is what i collect and heaven forbid missing something like this, but lukeyd is right its not a cure for cancer, and its not a great big deal, its not like they haven't broadcast the music from this show also - for some that was more than enough...

If any of you miss (or missed) out, then unfortunatley thats not UW's, Yannick's, Scott's, or anyone else's fault...so don't blame anyone.

If you wanna stay on top of things do what you have to...

anyhow...just keep the faith people...and the moany bastard thing wasn't directed at anyone specifically ;)

like Janie said this has been going on for way too long, and being lazy (and not reading the relevant threads) is not an excuse to moan.

But i do hope all of you that still need one of these manage to get one when they go on sale again, but i have a feeling that after these - that will be it - so keep yer eyes peeled....

If any of you miss (or missed) out, then unfortunatley thats not UW's, Yannick's, Scott's, or anyone else's fault...so don't blame anyone.

just want to make this very clear. my moaning (in the beginning and still very much now) was NOT about not being able to get this set. Yan, Scot, and Stimp et al, are saints on this forum with helping us out. ive never once blamed a single person. my moaning was about the feeling i was getting about everything on here getting complicated, elitest (i'll say it too, yeah) and a bit more annoying. **it may be just me, but its the feeling i got when these mp3s were released. there was a lot of 'i have it you cant have it' and it got to me.** again, i dont really care if i get the cds or not, it would be nice, but i dont really care. the fact that no one agrees with me on this feeling leads me to believe that i got a bad read on the situation, so i'll just pipe up now. :)

soo, its really nice out today in NJ.

haha good :)

btw. i wasn't having a go specifically at you, i quoted you originally because it was your bit about me not getting the CD's that made me reply...

the bit about 'if you missed out...' was a "you" meaning everyone in general, who seemed to be blaming someone else for not getting what they wanted, rather than doing the work for themselves...

anyway glad you are having a nice NJ day, and i do agree with you moaning about complicating things, it would have been easier for a lot of people, if whoever organised these CD's to just get everyone who wanted one to buy one from a dedicated website, after all the people who wanted one were dirty members, and uwlive visitors, now if they just said there's 100 cd's for sale, please send us your details via an order form and pay, by whatever method, it could have been done that way...

still i think this was more of a reaction to forum talk, and they didn't really have time to do this

i think Yan got a nod to say that there might have been some CD's left, asked who wanted, then they decided the quickest way to knock these out was via ebay, and the most resourceful way to get the message across was via these forums...it may have been a bit convaluted but it worked for most people...i guess...

anyway, enough on this matter now...when's the next batch released?

**it may be just me, but its the feeling i got when these mp3s were released. there was a lot of 'i have it you cant have it' and it got to me.** this forum is for the discussion of matters relating to underworld. the (possibly illegal) sharing of mp3s has no place here. if you look hard enough there might be other more sharing-friendly places.

Nah it wasnt!

It was just decided that, as it was a commercial product, it was not to be ripped and disseminated through the standard other sharing place resource. There was no dictatorial fiat as to what individuals might choose to do were they lucky enough to get their hands on some rips, though.

But I am not gonna start arguing again.

Honest.

Really.

I'm not.

No.

Not ever.
