Or, Porte Dauphine to Sacre-Coeur in 8 and a half minutes. In a Ferrari.

What a stupid thing to do. But let's all watch anyway.
 OMFG!!!
What a stupid thing to do indeed, but unbelievable to watch anyway... and, living in Paris, it's really amazing... 3 or 4 places where it was truly suicidal... you couldn't do that now, impossible (even at 5am on a sunday morning in august) Thanks for the link...

that movie was banned and the director arrested when it was shown at the (cannes?) festival.
i showed it at my local theatre, it was funny as hell.

there is lots of talk/gossip about this movie (e.g. here) (http://www.talkaboutautos.com/group/alt.autos.ferrari/messages/40413.html)
one thing is for sure - he doesn't do 200 km/h
well... i had some insider infos today, it was actually made from a motorbike with a very low camera mount & the sound was, of course, redone... it was definitely not 200 km/h but it's still (stupidly) amazing...

Who cares? If it was done in a Citroen 2CV its still a crazy thing to do and still impressive.

well... i had some insider infos today, it was actually made from a motorbike with a very low camera mount...
... but it doesn't lean into corners.
Could be anything, but who cares? We'll never know... though with the camera that close to the ground it probably feels far faster than it actually is - it could even be Ernie... :D

i've heard it was a porsche, driven by an f1 driver who, for legal reasons, was never named! the bike thing is, as votingfloater points out, clearly bullshit...
apparently there were people with walkie-talkies at certain junctions, just in case - but when he turns blind near the louvre, the guy's mike had packed up so the driver couldn't hear the warning about the bus that pops out just before he turns into the arch!

Pretty cool, even for 1976. It doesn't go that fast but the sound adds a lot to the experience and makes it seem really really exciting.
It's almost like playing a really good looking racing game too ;)
It was actually my dad driving a chrysler voyager.
the bike thing is, as votingfloater points out, clearly bullshit...
Mmm... sorry but it stops to be bullshit with a gyrostabilised head (a bit like a steadycam, but better balanced), the frame IS leaning and there are absolutely no vibration, specially on the cobblestone parts...
... but anyway, who cares... ;)

dude. the forces of a bike going around a corner is going to make a gyrostabilised head turn too. they work fine for slow things and single direction motion but notion with the acceleration of a bike

(and did they have such heads in the 70's?)
Ok ok ok... was digging a bit (and punched my insider...), was shot with Lelouch's own car (a Mercedes 450SEL driven by himself) definitely with a gyrostabilised mount attached to the bumber. Sorry for the too long motorbike debate...
Btw gyrostabilised mounts work very fine for this kind of things (i've tried on speedboats, warplanes or even fast train...)

Apparently when they re-released this film recently (a couple of years ago) it came with a new pumping Darren Emerson soundtrack, called something like 'Bozy Blue Rendevouz' as reported at the time on Underwater records, but i'm not sure what happened to this...and whether the DVD release below has the Emerson music or not?
But the details are here: http://www.soundvenue.com/news.asp?id=1942 (sadly, in Danish, i think)
and as mentioned, now you can buy this film on DVD....

other useful info and trivia is here:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0169173/trivia
and finally, shouldn't this thread be in the Treatment section.... :p

Allow me to translate:
Originalen "C'était un Rendezvous" kan nu fås på DVD på www.spiritlevelfilm.com (http://www.spiritlevelfilm.com/), mens versionen med Emersons musik "Bozy Blue Rendevouz" vil kunne findes på www.underwaterrecords.com (http://www.underwaterrecords.com/) i den nærmeste fremtid.
The original "C'était un Rendezvous" is available on DVD from www.spiritlevelfilm.com (http://www.spiritlevelfilm.com) while the version with Emerson's music "Bozy Blue Rendevouz" will be available from www.underwaterrecordscom (http://www.underwaterrecordscom) shortly (that is, 2 years ago).
So apparently no Emerson on the DVD from dvdsource :(

And, yes, this thread should be better in Treatment ;)
Thanks Matt

moved to treatment with a link in noise.
meanwhile, i read that gossip link of Eikmans. Interesting arguments including something from a guy a drove the same route in an Audi 80 back in the early 90s at a similar time in the morning...

Darren's reply (after i emailed him) :
"yeah ..done the music...the project fell down though...still have the music here..i'll do something with it one day i'm sure.."
i suspect he'lll just use it in some mix or another and we'll be none the wiser...but i was right a track was on the cards....

Has the track 'Bozy Blue Blaze' anything to do with this? Do you have the Electraglide (http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/music/pid/2766756/a/Electraglide.htm) cd? I've never heard that track and this release seems to be quite hard to obtain. Do you have it?
