I just noticed something interesting on the BBC 6 Music 6Mix page (http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/shows/6mix/index.shtml):

"09:04:06 Underworld"

Is this right, then?

FYI that'll be a Sunday, 8pm-10pm GMT.

More fun at the expense of the national TV license fee, then! And a bit of a delve into recent record-buying in the camp, I'd guess.

Don't remember anyone here posting, but it might cast light on those cryptic UWlive hints... no?

Hopefully this is a new one and not a repeat...

Anyone know anything?

lemonworld waiting for the jam to kick off:

make my wires shake: So maybe the 6mix is coming from lemonworld and we get live jam + some records as before?

its gotta be a new one i think, because they wouldn't advertise in advance for a repeat show would they...??

True - and I don't remember the station ever reusing old 6mixes (and Karl's last one was as long ago as 2003). I'm just being cautious.

The plot thickens. Cryptic talk on UnderworldLive.com - "over at radio 6 for a special" - and yet on the 6music 6mix website the 9th April slot now seems to be reserved for Arthur Baker, not Underworld.

So, is it just rescheduled or is there more to this than a simple 6mix show?

Here's the info for the old show (http://rtsr.rowla.com/6mix/) (mp3 links not working).

Ah, hang on... should have spotted this was coming up, but now I've had a good root around the website and found this:

April
06
...

Trainspotting: 10 Years Down The Line (http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/events/trainspotting/)
...

Coincidence? Or not?

I'm increasingly skeptical about this 6mix thing. Maybe someone at the beeb wanted it, and listed it prematurely, but it fell through.

Anyway, digging after Karl's UWlive post about being "over at radio1 for a special", I found this on the 6music Trainspotting page:

"Exclusive chat with Underworld
Karl Hyde from the band popped in for a chat to talk about how he feels about Born Slippy now, dropping the track live and what he's up to next."

So, just a chat. Unless he chose to sneak out new Riverrun stuff when he visited... who knows? I'll prick up my ears on the day just in case.

The interview with Karl was on Vic McGlynn's show on 6music today.

It's just a short thing (90 sec.) about how they still enjoy playing it and the response it gets, how it gave them a bit of a leg up, etc. No news or anything, but a nice little monologue nonetheless. :)

Listen again here (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/6music_aod.shtml?6music/6m_vic_thu) - for the next week - at about 42min in (followed by Nuxx obviously), or if folk have problems I can post an mp3 of it here.

I'm intrigued by the extreme music thing - from here (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/oneworld/) it looks like 10th April 1am-3am GMT.

The extreme music special of One World at BBC Radio 1 was today.
Karl played:
Karl Hyde from Underworld
Chicago - 'Freeform Guitar' (LP- Chicago Transit Authority) (WEA)
Francisco Lopez - 'Buildings (New York) (V2_Archief)
Karlheinz Stockhausen - 'Helikopter Quartet Arditti String Quartet'(DG)
Sun Ra & The Arkestra - 'Imagination' (An Anthology of Noise) (Sub Rosa)

Karl told that the Francisco Lopez track was the basis of the idea for Mmm Skyscraper.
You can listen back the show for 1 week at the One World (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/oneworld/) site. Karls bit starts at 34 minutes into it (clock will read 1:34:00 tho)
