I think it's great that each are inspired in some way by each other (and that they both have kickass live DVDs)!;)

sounds like maybe NIN asked UW to support them on a tour or something...yet they remain "on the island".
what an amazing show that would be.

Do we know why UW thanks and respects Trent & the band? I love NIN and UW, but can't find any connection.

Thanks Icke, but I saw where NIN were mentioned, but wonder why UW mention them. :)

Besides today's diary entry, there's also the Hurt lyrics that Karl says at the end of "Rez/Cowgirl" at last year's Benicassm Festival show. So what's the deal?

I would seriously fly anywhere in the U.S. to see that show.

Trent said that Underworld was one of the best shows he'd been to or something like that as well. It was on www.nin.com at one time last year.:)

Yeah, in the archives of the "access" section, somebody asked him about the best concerts he's ever been to, and he named Underworld among them.

There was a thread about the Trent mention of underworld on the old forums before they fell into a coma during the summer last year.
I missed yesterdays underworldlive post. Was there a second mention of nin and/or trent reznor?

It's just nice in general to see our boys impress some heavy hitters out there. Whether you think Trent is relevant or not or whether or not you like his albums, there's still something about the degree of seriousness and sincerity that doesn't rinse away with one wash.
Of course, this all goes back to my views of what makes an artist and artist and it's all extremely subjective but as a fan, I'm allowed to be that way... :)

I always liked the idea of this mutual respect between two very distinct musicians, that while making very different music seem to share very similar tastes in design and ideas in music, design, and production.

More connections. I didn't realize Tomato was thanked in The Fragile's liner notes.
Also, any truth to the statement that Tomato was doing the unfinished The Day The Whole World Went Away video?

yes - they did do the video for "The Day the Whole World Went Away" video, as well as the artwork for the cd single.
I have the video on my external HD still... I think - so if you don't mind waiting a bit - I'll upload it somewhere
you can also access the video on the NIN live dvd f/ the Fragile Tour (forget title)... you have to press/do something during the performance of said track to get to the tomato video. So it's the live version audio over the video...
I actually quite liked it - it's too bad it didn't get finished

In the vein of Trent's live show attendance: I read an interview with either Ogre or Trent, last year I think, about going to see Air in LA together. WOW wouldn't it be cool if you ended up sitting next to Ogre and Trent Reznor at an Air concert?
