Anyone go to this show?

I had thought about going but it would have been a long train ride, the rest of the line-up wasn't really worth the price, and I would have been doing it all alone. Instead I took an equally long train ride to meet a friend in Prague.

What did I miss?

http://www.cgm.pl posted pictures of the first day of the festival. Maybe they post more pictures later.
I did search for reviews but have trouble with searching polish sites.. so if you could help there :)

There are some good pictures there. I am not very proficient in Polish, so I'm not that much help either. They were scheduled to start at 2AM, and probably started late, so I don't think there are many media reviews. But from the comments I've read, it sounds like was a really good show. Played til the sun came up.

Anyone have a setlist?

you're gonna burn me right away, but it was my 1st time i saw underworld live (after all thos years waiting). AND i am disappointed. i really heard better bootlegs than that. :(
why?

i have no ide who the 3rd guy was, but it looked like he was learning all the time. All the time Rick was talking to him changing something or correcting (?).
maybe that's why tracks were separated and sometimes end unexpectedly.
ppl were completely not ready for them (and probably never will). i can't dance while there are ppl around me who can't feel it at all. just standing and yawning.
technicans were roaming all the time. fixing something, checking, etc...
so maybe i was staring at the stage too much, but all that gave me impression that it wasn't prepared well.
but i there were 2-3 tracks which i haven't heard before and they were amazing (as always). hope it's from the upcoming album.

the 3rd guy is Darren Price, long time Underworld dj and now part of the band (at least for the live show). So I guess he must still be learning since this was only his 3rd show (although obviously they had rehearsals). From the pics it looks like he's having a hard time :D

1. Darren Price (i must check that what u said tommorow in Czech rep) :D
2. Yes Exit was separated too, give Mr. Pricey time... ;)
3. I hate when people around me dont feel it like me...:(
4. It was Open Air or Club? Prague will be open air, open air is that normal i think...:(

Don't worry, no one is going to burn you. Sorry it didn't meet your expecatations, but interesting observations anyways.

Here's a link to a lot of comments about the show (the actual newspaper article said nothing). There's quite a few about UW, but everything is in Polish. It would take me a while to make sense of it all and I don't feel like putting in the effort. Anyone else interested in trying?

well they always talked on stage... there is no way around that when you have HUGE flowing tracks. not like a rock band which playes 4 minute rehearsed songs.

and in a festival atmosphere its always gonna be more chaotic. sound systems are set up for dozens of bands instead of just for UW. at a solo UW concert all the fans are there just for them, the sound is set up just for them, the lights just for them, etc. MUCH more cohesive experience i think

Festival shows are always a lot more start and stop.

1) less time to play = shorter tracks, less improv
2) smaller setup
3) need to get all the heavy hitter tracks out there and some wont magically run together

i don't really think it's a festival/club thing per se. When I saw them last time at their own gig in Amsterdam it was start/stop as well (mostly) and it was like a greatest hits show as well, while the gig at werchter seemed to flow a bit more, or at least have more improvisation.
I really wish they would make a conscious decision to start mixing stuff together again because right now it seems they, or at least Rick is happy with the way it's going even though in the early days they made a point about their liveset being more like a dj set and about the continuity. It might also have technical reasons, since now they run everything as audio from laptops while before they ran everything via midi off the samplers, and using midi is a bit more flexible tempo and mixing wise than straight audio. Just a guess though.

Yeah, on any tour certain gigs are better or worse than others, festival or headlining. We can be sure, however, that the boys are giving it their best!
Machines break down, it's just the name of the game.

Also, consider that on some nights, they may consciously choose to play the standards. Though we may love the 80 minute freeform jams like in the early days, i'd be willing to wager that the majority in the crowd want to hear songs they recognize.

Apparently they at least played these songs, and I'm sure more, including new tracks:

jumbo
moaner

All regulars, I suppose.

well, for sure if this is gonna be the setlist for this tour again, they'd better do a lot of improvisation because otherwise I'll be pretty dissapointed.

I like Moaner, I just don't like the fact that is has become the standard closer/encore song. Standardisation = bad. I mean, ok they have to play BS Nuxx every time obviously, but apart from that, now you can pretty much be sure that they will always play the same selection of tracks with the exception of two or three that will rotate (and the new tracks of course).
It's all become pretty predictable which is a damn shame if you ask me.
So many great tracks never get played. Too much BF and not enough STITI, Dubno and EP's!

Is it time for an online petition to change the ending song into 'TT' ? ;)

i pretty much agree with everything you say except i think moaner is just a little annoying. it might be BECAUSE it is so standard at the end and that i think there are many other great closers...

let's change it to Spikee instead. :) Or maybe Pearls Girl Tin There.
And let's have some Burts live as well while we're at it.
I would like to hear a full version of TT though, I thought it was one of the best sounding previews we got. Let's hope it's on the new album.
