looks like the lane goes then...

But it's such a compact, focused track. Me likes! :o

i'd sooner vote off "Sola System"...yes, it's smooth and dubby, but it's also slow and makes me sleepy. It drags. i prefered hearing the lyrics in the fast and claustrophobic "020202" archive track (that's from a dirty radioshow in 2004, since someone's bound to ask;) ). Plus, "sola system" was ruined for me when i read a review of AHDO that compared the track to a Sade outtake from the early 90's. Anyway, it seems kinda forced to me. "Ballet Lane" just flows so pretty-like!

Gah, I love "Ballet Lane." One of my favourite rainy-day songs, that one. But I know I'm in the minority; hell, I like "Trim" and "Ess Gee" as well. I'll still be voting for "Little Speaker" until it bites the dust, of course, and I still maintain that the "Twist" / "Sola Sistim" / "Little Speaker" combo doesn't contain anything more musically creative or interesting than "Ess Gee" or "Ballet Lane," while being about four times as long.

I'm with bavarian on this one, Ballet Lane is leagues ahead of Little Speaker in my eyes. I would've liked to see it live longer than this, oh well.

I cannot vote in these polls anymore.

I have no idea what these songs sound like.

I've owned the album since the day it came out, I've listened to it many times, and I like it well enough. But aside from the few obvious tracks, I cannot associate the names with the songs. If you asked me to tell you how 'Trim' goes versus 'Little Speaker', I would give you nothing. I really only know 'Mo Move', 'Two Months Off', and 'Dinosaur' by name. The rest are all nameless.

I think this is true for all music for me recently. When I get an album, I'll maybe know the names of a few songs that I really like or that really strike me. The rest of names just fade together.

swola sistim drags for soooo much.
on a day when ive actually had patience for it i couldnt believe that it went for another 2 minutes at the 4 minute mark.

off. off off off.

i'd sooner vote off momove and twist before ballet lane. i like that one a lot.

whats with the little speaker hate? again, second best on there...

"Ballet Lane" is such a perfect little track after the loud "Dinosaur Adventure 3D"... Don't vote it off yet!

cool...:D

If i had to skip one track here it would surely be Little Speaker. It's not that bad but it's too long for the album IMO.
Ballet Lane just fits in there somehow... and i like it. I would not listen to it as a single track but in the album it works.

no way sola sistim can go. 'tis my favorite. the reason I like this song so much is I remember I was having a horrible day at work once... just horrible - and when I thought I was going to go nuts sola sistim came on the net radio stream i was listening to and it just made everything better.

Honestly... What's so great about Luetin? Don't get me wrong, it's a good song. But several of you guys keep bringing it up...

i love Luetin. cant explain why either. i *really* love Luetin as performed in Maida Vale on the John Peel show. THAT was amazing.

To be honest, though it's not many people's favorite UW album around here, nor is it mine, AHDO was the first new record released once i got into Underworld around 2001. So, i was eagerly awaiting it, and i did love it on first listen. As soon as the beat dropped in on "MoMove" i thought, "dang, the boys are back!"

But in the context of the whole catalog, there are a number of weaker tracks on AHDO. "Luetin" is special by this album's standards, but the similarities to AirTowel (discussed before around here) makes it less than original-sounding. Heck, the basslines of DA3D and MoMove are just a few notes changed from King of Snake. Good tracks, but sort of what we expected from UW. The RiverRun project, on the other hand, is something entirely new and different, as Karl and Rick said they were intending.

Same general syncopation, but different pitch and sound.

My point in comparing MoMove and DA3D with KoS was that they each have the Giorgio Moroder synth bass sound a la "I Feel Love". Each bass line is three notes, each just one note varied from the other. i wish i could transcribe the lines exactly, but let's just suppose that KoS is C-A-B-C-A-B-C-A-B..., MoMove is B-C-A,B-A-C
and Dinosaur is A-C-A, A-C-A.

But whatever. They all rock.

But i don't think R&K overuse their hooks or bass lines...
Mo Move, Dino3D and Luetin sound very original.

But whatever. They all rock. QFT!:D
