Tool's last tour (last time in Vancouver, anyway) was one of the coolest things I've ever seen.
They did a perfect job of taking familiar songs in new directions, and them slamming them back into the bits you know right at the right point...it's wonderful.
Outkast also did a good job of that, actually.

definitely going to pass this year. i guess it's time to finally go to Mutek and witness a real music festival rather than this indie-rock/mainstream dj bullshit Coachella is settling into. double yawn.
i cancelled my flights and hotel reservations last year when the lineup was announced. but this one will do just fine for me. not crazy about Tool being on there, and i wish the avalanches and some others would've made the list, but there are enough acts there that i'm interested in to make it worthwhile. and it's such a great place to be.

Derrick Carter, Chris Liberator, and Joey Beltram aren't exactly what I would classify as "mainstream" DJs.
Big names yes, but Sascha van Oakenweed they are not. That dance lineup on Saturday is pretty cracking if you ask me. Though not exactly enticing me to drop a few hundred on the adventure.
Rather save the $$ for Burning Man personally.

Not a ton of bands i care to see. Of the bunch, only Depeche Mode, Franz Ferdinand, Sigur Ros, Animal Collective, Hybrid, and Metric really excite me. But then, there are a lot of lesser known indie-types and the "superstar"-esque DJs that would be worth the experience, if not the money.
Now if Underworld was really playing (along with Smashing Pumpkins reunion, like the fake poster claimed), well, that'd be different!;) :p

Hopefully Daft Punk's live performance is still outstanding a la "Alive 1997". I wonder if tracks from "Human After All" sound better live:confused:
