Hey all,

Seeing a few threads about anime, Is anyone else here a fan of the crazy demented shows on Cartoon Network's [adult swim] programming block? i got hooked a few years ago. Always something funny/strange on there...

Some faves:
"Tom Goes To the Mayor"
"FLCL"
"ATHF"
"Home Movies"
"Family Guy"

Anyone else up late watching tee vee?

it's so wierd. it is both the best and worst thing on television.

on one hand you have tom goes to the mayor and aqua teen. and we once had sealab and home movies (the best one they had)

and on the other hand you have fucking 12 ounce mouse and a run of painfully depressing anime

squidbillies is allright though.

Aqua Teen is king.. season 4 just came out on DVD. ;) I *HATE* Sealab though. I'm probably the only ATHF fan that hates Sealab. It's filled with repetitive nonsense and weirdness for the sake of being weird. Theres long pauses where characters are just stareing at each other for minutes on end.. and a minute goes along way when all you have is 15 of them in your show. ATHF is much more fast paced and tries to cram as much as they can into their block.

hah! i'm a second ATHF-lover, Sealab-hater. i'm a littl concerned that Williams Street is killing ATHF, though...theres' the 52 show limit that ended Sealab, Home Movies, and i think Space Ghost, too. And some of the bumps for Aqua Teen have been kinda discouraging, like, "we've lost interest". But looks like the next epsiode is a 30 minute extravaganza with the Mooninites!

Now, "Home Movies" was a great show with clever improv-writing (retroscripting) and characters you could love. My favorite were Walter and Perry, the hyperactive kids that loved each other very much. In fact, i even made a track in their honor:
"So Much Adrenaline" by AViD, featuring Walter&Perry:

i love LOVE me some [adult swim]. was a big spaceghost c2c fan and watched the old Cartoon Planet show which had spaceghost, brak, and zoark doing skits in between cartoons. i remember (over) 4 years ago the night adult swim launched and loved it all, except ATHF, which i quickly warmed up to after a few episodes.
Spaceghost will always be king, but the first batch of ten or so Sealab's were amazingly funny to me.

The quality of the block has gone down overall lately, but I'm very happy with The Boondocks, and Perfect Hair Forever is looking promising.

also, ATHF movie is this year. not sure if it's theatres or DVD only yet, but it was announced back at comicon.

I love Adult Swim. Love Sealab, like ATHF on occassion. Mostly I watch it for the anime. FLCL, Fullmetal Alchemist, Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, etc.... Couldn't live without it really, but yeah, there's some crap on there.

I was just watching John K.'s Boo-boo the bear cartoon on the website the other day. As perverse as I expected and damn funny too.

EDIT: found it (http://www.adultswim.com/clips/shorts/boo_boo/)

Cartoon Network is the only good channel we get here in the dorm. Thank god for Adult Swin.

It's kinda funny when I used to have a view out my window of the other side of the building I could see into everyone's rooms and see what they were watching. It would always be adult swin on everyone's TVs, especially for Family Guy.
