The Grammys have always been a laugh. I heard that Mariah Carey got 8 nominations :p

Are you sure that wasn't the worst album of the year award?:p
Go Chems....although my interest in Push the Button has dropped.....completely.

Yeah, they're junk, mostly. But at least less mainstream categories like "alternative" or "electronic/dance" usually have someone i can get behind and cheer for, though they usually lose.
Yeah, go Chems, and maybe even LCD Soundsystem (though i thought the album was overhyped and one-paced). Isn't Kraftwerk's album a Live compilation? i mean, they're great, sure, and have been for 20+ years, but isn't there any newer artist with newer material to recognize? The list seems like it was made by reading a Rolling Stone magazine in 1996.

well - I don't get how Kraftwerk can be listed... as it's not new material in any way, shape or form
and I REALLY liked Daft Punk's album, i still occasionally play it - at least more than LCD Soundsystem's one...
I can't believe Fatboy Slim's was even nominated... damn that was a horrible album.
my votes would go to:
Best Dance Recording
LCD Soundsystem for "Daft Punk Is Playing At My House"
Best Electronic/Dance Album
Human After All (Daft Punk)
Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical
Fever (Adam Freeland Remix)
Adam Freeland, remixer (Sarah Vaughan)
-or-
Mr. Brightside (Jacques Lu Cont's Thin White Duke Mix)
Jacques Lu Cont, remixer (The Killers)
although... I'd prolly want "Fever" to win over Brightside, as a lot of Jacques lu Cont's remixes kinda sound all the same... and this one sounds just like his remix of "Four to the Floor"

Well, that's the Grammys for you. Clearly, M.I.A. and Out Hud should've been nominated for Best Electronic Album in place of Daft Punk and Fatboy Slim. And while Minimum-Maximum is fantastic, that spot should be reserved for new material.

well - honestly, of the remixes... I've only heard Fever, Flashdance, and Mr Brightside - and of those three - I'd say Fever is the best. I wouldn't vote for someone solely on their name, you know?
Actually, I'd be more likely to vote for the best candidate with a chance of beating Fever. That remix tears my soul out through my ears, just like the rest of that accursed series.

Much like the Grammys, Pitchfork media is an entertaining pile-o-poo, useful if only for (a) the American Apparel adverst and (b) lessons in how not to write music reviews. Ah. That's not true always...sometimes they come with truth like this:
Daft Punk's "Technologic":
"Like watching an ambulance crash into a garbage truck."

Man, foo, I dig "Guilt is a Useless Emotion." Too bad it took them so f'n long to release it as a single. I think it should have been out first.
