So, it looks like there's another, unreleased Kettama collaboration out there.

This excerpt from one of Kettama's sets (unsure which one) was posted a while ago:
https://soundcloud.com/user-964178671/fontaine-underworld-unreleased

That same track showed up in one of Kettama's more recent sets again. Given that he played it (1:26:45) right before g-town euphoria (1:31:45) seems to confirm that it is, in fact, another UW/Kettama collab, unreleased.

I wonder if this is a video edit? There seems to be some parts missing but anyway, aoooooo bloody good. Made me dance in the gym for like 20 mins.

-----------------

Underworld and KETTAMA are the perfect storm - and this new track encapsulates that storm and pushes it through a combination of FruityLoops and Logic Pro to create something soulful and invigorating.

Their first release together, G-Town Euphoria (Luna), was born of Underworld’s earlier release, Denver Luna. Fen Violet is all new material. It is an amalgamation of their relationship so far and the soundworld it inhabits proves just that. An addictively nostalgic piano hook blends with a soaring melody and a kickdrum to ignite any dancefloor.

Looks like 4:05 is the full length of the song. There's a shorter edit.

I hoped it won't be longer than the video edit. This track hasn't got more than a 4 minute track. Not bad, but it's a bit boring. Anyway very B.Fish feeling.

It is strange that cover art hasn't got the Underworld logo as on the previous 2 singles. Maybe it's not meant to be for the new UW album, but more of a Kettama track for him.

Definite Beaucoup Fish vibe, obviously more than a touch of King of Snake there. Feels like it makes the most of its runtime, I wouldn't have guessed it was so short from a single listen.

V good.

yup. and yup.

for me, its a super promising start for 45 seconds or so, and then I'm done with it. it meanders forever and has like 3-4 fakeouts before the beat comes back in. also that muted/muffled section... not a fan.

when Denver Luna came out I played it on loop for weeks. For Fen I've played it twice in total.

And again, still no announcement. So I think we won't get a spring album. Now it's more like a fall album in october/november.

No reason it couldn't still be July or August, could easily be another track released in May with a two or three month announcement for the album, or even a closer run thing than that - I Exhale came out less than two months before Barbara, even if we did get clips earlier than that.

It’s just weird that it’s close to a YEAR since Red, and there’s no album in sight. Is this a version of drift where we get songs as they’re done and suddenly there’s an album’s worth? Except it’s going to take another year+?

I would hope so. I hate nothing more the a vol. 1 and vol2 never appears.

This really does nothing for me. As always, my judgement may change with repeated listens but right now I just feel no wish to listen to it again.

Yeah I’m in this strange spot of thinking it’s just fine after 5 or 6 spins, but I haven’t really thought of it since? I’m looking forward to listening it on the ride home because I’ve mostly forgotten how it goes now. Great title though, and I remember seeing what Rick says when it slightly punctures expectations and comes back with a bang instead of a boom. I see the BF comparisons but feels closer to AHDO imo

Haven't been here for many years (couldn't find my old password for other username blahddy blah)...anyhow, just to say I'm actually really into Fen Violet, it's got some old school vibe, a bit o the Beaucoup Fishes/King of Snake in places, a dash of Pearl's rezzy rezzy rezzy in there...I just let me body tell me what it thinks and the test is passed. Bring on the Ally Pally!

I might agree for about 40 seconds... and then it devolves into anything except a banger. at that point it feels totally without form (and not in a good UW way) and has some weird filters added. By the time it comes back for a 20 second hurrah, I'm already checked out.

Very very rarely do I not play a new UW track to death. This is one of those times.
