It's okay...it's bit more 're-produced' rather than 're-mixed'with all the individual elements a bit more pronounced...but I do like it. Has a chuggy feel to it (what ever that means!) :)

doesn't really build up, or seem to go somewhere.

Interesting, but yeah: chill/monotonic. He's shifted key elements to be exactly on the beat, which IMHO robs the track of much of its power and interest.

actually speeding it up (but retaining the pitch) works pretty well.
brings it some more energy.

Am I missing something??? Is this really a 'remix'??? It sounds almost identical to the album (and best) version only slowed down and stretched a bit. It sounds like a 45 played at 33. There are people on youtube who make their own remixes of tracks that actually sound better than the originals. This is a pretty poor effort (IMO).

I can see where you can incorporate this into a mix in several locations, but only for a couple minutes at best. 7 minutes in and I just got lost... not in a good way either. There's some nice elements, but no real build up. You get a slight build up and I was expecting a better break but it's just too soft... It's a too bouncy for a chill out and too slow to groove.... Not the Two Months I want to take off ;)
