None of these links seem to work for me....can I assume this is "just" a single?

Is it a new album coming or just a one off single?

"Annie Macmanus sits in with Underworld
Annie welcomes you to a brand new week with sparkling tunes in the Cloudbusting playlist, has viewing picks in The Watchlist, and is joined by Karl Hyde and Rick Smith of Underworld for a play of their brand new music."
Interview starts at about 8:46 AM on the player (if you're listening to the archived episode, that would be about 1 hour, 13 minutes in). Song plays after the interview.

Also for purchase on iTunes Store and Junodownload. If you're interested in 24-bit purchase, that should be showing up soon on those stores also.

it does a lot of the little things I like most in UW tracks, but it’s a funny choice for a lead single, and kind of encouraging too. I’m sure it’s got a real one in there somewhere but it’s nice to see them pull back a bit.

Similar impression for me. A great groove, lots of bleeps and bloops, buzzy effects and vocoded phrases...pretty classic UW sound. There's a high twinkly synth pattern starting at 2:30 that reminds me of The Chemical Brothers' "it doesn't matter" (live version from "Don't Think" DVD).
Feels a lot like episode 1 tracks of Drift. Looking forward to studio cuts of the other new tunes

yes! i just described it as It Doesn't Matter + Dark & Long (part of that stuttering synth reminds me of a Dark & Long pattern.)
plus the "Don't Speak" put me in the "Don't Think" mindset already.

Reminds me of Monkey Wink with the acid synth that floats in and out.

I just hope this will lead to Drift Series 2. What ever shape it will take. And I wish this was ready when they were in Tokyo. What a banger! I’m in love.

mental how it fades out for me. I am reminded of how when we had the appleshine teaser, a lot of folk felt it led to something else, and that is the impression I have with this release.
Also, thanks to -1 for the interview post. Fascinating to hear this song pre-dates drift.

Personally, I think it's really boring. Very little variation or progression, not the most interesting sounds. But who knows, it might grow on me.

I think And The Colour Red is much better on headphones. You get to hear all the little details, especially some of the spatial effects and stereo movement of sounds. This song definitely comes from their more dub side where it's all about constraint, precision, and the way sounds occupy a space.

Definitely. There is so much depth and layering. This will give many hours of discovery

It's definitely better on headphones than on phone or laptop speakers, but still, there's just not much there apart from the kick and the bass. It's a nice beat but the rest of the sounds just aren't very interesting. I'm growing kind of tired of all the noodling with dusty, distorted "the synth has broken down and fallen down the stairs" kind of sounds. I get they're really into that stuff right now though.
I mean, compare this to singles from any of the early era's and it's not very memorable is it?

Yeah i get you, King of Snake, and your opinion is valid and appreciated.
Counterpoint: Are those 90's singles more memorable because you have almost 30 years of recollection and nostalgia?
I'm in agreement that this new track is not the most epic piece of music UW have ever released, but it's pretty great to hear from a band with such a history, and it's a logical progression of what they've been doing since Drift, which progressed from BBWFASF, out of Barking, etc., etc. If they kept releasing Dubno-style tracks, a certain fanbase would love it, but that'd be seen as playing it safe for many others.
Evolution, baby!

one of the dirts I keep in touch with got a big nostalgia moment with this, saying it's "very dubno". I so naturally associated with with a drift continuance that it didn't even occur to me, but it's all there come to think of it, just with more sheen to it.
I still feel positive about the track and It's getting more and more lodged in the brain. I think the synth clicks and distortion are another iteration of the vocal snatches from the 90s. I'm into it. it just also feels silly to make such a hubbub about it. a whole drop? really? but you know what, why not. if it was left as a b-side it'd be a hidden gem instead.

Is this really going to just be a Soundcloud exclusive? Or will it be seeing a wider release later?
This is too good to leave to Soundcloud.

it's fine, but I think I prefer the original as this one sounds a bit... trendy. Does some neat things in the back half though.

Up for purchase on iTunes and such now. I suppose a 24-bit version will appear on Qobuz shortly too. Also available on all streaming platforms.

I agree that it's a little more pop-ravy than the typical Underworld remix, but I really enjoy it. I like that it doesn't try to bury or minimize Karl at all, but puts him even more front of center in the mix.
If the 12" had included this track on the B-side I would have bought it in a heartbeeat.
