Discovery in the Netherlands is currently showing a great Sony ad for their LCD TVs. Its a great tune, and a great idea. Very simple: Lots of coloured balls bouncing down the hill on a sunny day in San Francisco.
Thankfully, they predicted that people would love the advert and have made a special site just for the ad! Its here (http://www.bravia-advert.com/) and is available in 60 secs and 180 sec versions and also in H.264 Quicktime. You can also check out the great gallery and the behind the scenes movies :)
It says "The beautiful track that sets the mood for the commercial is 'Heartbeats', performed by José González from his critically-acclaimed debut Album, 'Veneer'" but I first heard the song performed by The Knife and it used to be on the DirtyRadio playlist. I also love the Rex The Dog remix of the song, but i love José González's version too.
oh, and in case youre wondering... its NOT CGI. It was for real.

Thanks for the link, i read about it in The Scum newspaper, and it seemed like a cool and original idea.

When I first saw this I thought: must be a Skittles ad.
I'd love to have been the guy in the dump truck full of rubber balls at the top of the hill.

Hubs and I were wondering that. Fun!

When I saw it, i thought it was for those new coloured bubbles, ZUBBLES! (http://www.zubbles.com/), which are equally impressive.

Wow! Those are cool. Almost as cool as SuperElasticBubblePlastic (http://www.bigredtoybox.com/cgi-bin/toynfo.pl?whamoindex).

When they shot it in San Fran - there were many photos taken by punters out and about - you could do a search on flickr and find them.
very cool ad - running here in NZ as well.
Has the sony u-me interstitial on the logo at the end as well..... code for that written originally by some drunk bloke who posts occasionally on these forums.

Is there any way to grab the quicktime file of this?
I'd like to have it on my hard drive in case the site disappears etc.

But i need something to download the quicktime file on my PC. The site makes it only possible to view the video, and their "download" section features just stuff like screensavers and mobile wallpapers etc.
So how could i get the video on my hard drive?

Yes, if you look at the source for the page you get a link (here (http://www.bravia-advert.com/includes/vid/bravia_150_sec_high.mov) is the link for the high res long version at 55mb). To stop the browser from opening it with the Quicktime plug in tho, you have to change the association to "save to disk" for the mov file extension. I use Opera so its Tools/Preferences/Advanced/Downloads/quick find:mov/Edit.../Save To Disk. No idea what it is in other inferior browsers ;)
Alternately you can buy (http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore?productLearnMore=D3381Z/A) Quicktime Pro and it will let you save embedded movies from webpages :) Only $29.99!
