View Full Version : How do YOU write it?

I've been sorting through my tracks and comparing them to other tracks and I have seen a trend to spell things.... any old way ya please. Hehe Now I'm a pretty good bit of a stickler for order and standards, at least as far as my own life is concerned, but I also like to be correct. So I'm looking at Born Slippy NUXX in all its forms, parenthetic, sans parentheses, avec dot, CAPS, etc. etc. etc. I would like to just stick to one form for all my NUXX tracks (and Skyscraper (with or without ellipsis?) is also bothering me). I'm wondering just which is the correct way to write it. At the very least, how do YOU write it?

Yes, I just need to know.:)

Born Slippy .NUXX
and
Mmm Skyscraper I Love You

Also, is it Pearl's Girl (apostrophe) or Pearls Girl? I think I recall it being without the apostrophe on STITI, but with the apostrophe on a number of the singles/EPs.

good question! i only have "Telematic" mix on the Dubnology compilation, and they write Tel Ematic several times, so it doesn't seem a typo.

Born Slippy. NUXX ....the period's important, somehow!:D

this is what i found with a quick Google search. IMHO, it's not worth $14, because most of the tracks are pretty boring (i think i bought it used for $2>50, which seemed a bargain to get Tel Ematic and 2Cds of music). But this or another of the series crops up on ebay pretty often.

mmm...skyscraper i love you

(somehow i don't like Mmm - with a capital 'M' so i use all lower case on mmm...skyscraper)

and i use:

Born Slippy .Nuxx
Born Slippy .NUXX
Born Slippy NUXX

sorry but thats all the permutations from various ep's 12" imports etc... :)

and talking of Born Slippy - what about the remix...in 2003

is it:

Born Slippy Nuxx (whatever permuation) 2003
or
Born Slippy 2003
or
Born Slippy (2003)
or
Born Slippy ('insert remixer name' Remix)

this kinda irks me more than the NUXX issue.... ;)

Oh, my. I can see I've opened up a common thought for discussion, aka a can of worms. :D

I used to use (NUXX) myself but I don't really see any dirtys using it (btw, is the plural for us who be dirty, dirties or dirtys?). I'm going to go with Born Slippy .NUXX since I think it looks cool and it's more convenient for sticking remixes on the end.

The whole mmm ellipsis sky thing. I like no ellipsis. I like ellipsis but there's none on dubno which was the first time I saw/heard the track. I know that album covers aren't the definitive place for correct song titles because they often change from album to album. Which leads me to... <- token ellipsis

Pearl's Girl. Being an American, I like to use the apostrophe but now I live in Denmark and the language doesn't use apostrophes in possessive form. It's all very clean since danish uses letters other than 's' to form plurals. Based on that, I'll go with the American possessive form Pearl's Girl so as not to confuse it with a Girl who likes Pearls. (Just call me Confusion The Waitress, now  ).

Actually, a fun conversation. Are there more titles like that? What about New Train? Or is it Nu Train? I've been writing Dark Train since it's definitely the same song, only different.

I am indeed. I listen all the time and I've been lurking on and off for years. Listen to dirtyradio quite a bit. But when underworldlive.com went live, I had to make a comeback, albeit a late one. How are ya, brain? :)

That's interesting. You have the period after Slippy rather than before NUXX. Don't think I've seen it this way before. Though I have seen it with no space: Born Slippy.NUXX
