"I'm not sure if the A Hundred Days Off album will be relaunched now for its 20-year anniversary. We work with a record company that takes care of our archive and the materials released so far, we always discuss with them what we could relaunch, especially on quality vinyl."
Not sure how much is lost in translation there. 20th anniversary would be 2022.

"Sometimes the songs last longer than ten minutes, and more than once we peek in the direction of jazz. I know that explanation sounds hip again today, but that is purely coincidence (laughs) . Remember that Rick and I are two old men. We have always been intrigued by what is happening in the jazz world. "

Smith explains how he has made game-playing and puzzle-solving the heart of Drift, building songs collaboratively from single sounds, concepts or ideas. “Games and play open up so much,” says Smith. “They allow us to connect, express ourselves. We’ve been together nearly 40 years now, and this was a new pattern of working. Prior to that, when people asked us why we’d been together so long, it was really difficult to say. Because it’s not been a straightforward journey."
One interesting talk with Karl, featured in Humo, a Flemish magazine:

«No, I even left in 2012 when we had to make the music for the opening ceremony of the London Olympics. The atmosphere had been tense before that, when we made the play "Frankenstein" with Danny Boyle - a fantastic experience, but I hated Rick wholeheartedly. I really couldn't stand him anymore, and those feelings were mutual. I thought: I would turn myself aside if I had to endure an intense collaboration with him. I left and made a solo album. And also two albums with Brian Eno. »
I knew they had unofficially "broken up" but i think they worded it as something like "we can't just break up just because we don't like each other!"
i didn't know it was, like, bitter.
I kind of wonder more and more if, ever since Barbara Barbara, this has been UW MK4 (or at least 3.5). they really sound like they've rearranged their whole partnership, without being specific about it.

I wonder what the nature of their animosity was. Maybe just the contempt of familiarity?
Another Flemish interview, recorded at “the shed”:

They referenced their previous venture The Riverrun Project, which involved releasing three digital albums to the internet only, as a cautionary tale of rushing through releases.
“While that project was stimulating, we felt that it was unfinished and didn’t want to repeat that, so this had to be finished to a high standard,” Hyde said.
Another one in a Dutch newspaper:

Apparently, the journalist had to sign an NDA, covering the location of the shed :)

meanwhile it's a broad favorite of ours, and stood as the best thing they've done post-emerson to some of us (until drift, anyway).
i'll never really understand them. kind of wish i grabbed those wavs when i could have though, doesn't look like they'll be re-appearing anytime soon if they're considered a mistake.

wonder if he's just referring to the series itself and not necessarily the music
the way R&K were talking it sounded like there were many pieces in development, it felt like we were gonna get like 7-10 of these things. especially given how every live show and radio broadcast seemed to feature a new piece of music.
almost seemed like the issue was they had to stop to focus on OWB, then after that was done they wanted to move on to the next thing

I love the photo of both of them with the caption "Underworld's Karl Hyde."
I mean, I know Rick's wearing sunglasses, but that doesn't mean you can't see him.

yeah. I've been holding out hope that they'd eventually put them back on the store, that it was just an oversight, but if they're never coming back I guess I'll have to resort to other means to get the wav versions at some point.

"They already have a new idea called STAR , with which they go out with a camera crew to the streets to ask people who their star is. The answers turn them into letters for new topics. The exercise has been done in London and Mexico City, and as they passed through Bogotá they recorded a version that will soon be known."

"One of the things that has been challenging, is to release something every week. Having done that, it’s not necessarily a good idea for ‘Series 2’. Not in the same way. We can be releasing things, but not to give us the same time constraint."

Nice interview with Lauren Laverne for 6 Music today. Starts at about 2:10:00, and continues after the UW track that is played.

Not a media review, but Karl and maybe Rick were on BBC breakfast this morning. I’ll check the clip when it’s on iplayer later.
