Take a rhyme that’s so familiar it’s almost become a part of our DNA and evolve it into something strange and inspiring — a celebration of life, and of lives, and of the good and the truly great. The birth of the DRIFT Game. Now go make your own list.
DRIFT Series 1 concludes on 1st November, marking 1 year since the start of the epic DRIFT journey of 52 releases in 52 weeks…
"Did any of us ever seriously think there wouldn’t be a DRIFT series 2…?" - Karl
"It’s madness isn’t it?... We’ll do this together until we’re dust" - Rick
Further details of the DRIFT Series 1 box set, including the track listing are now available here (https://underworldlive.com/news/2019/09/11/drift-series-1/).

I like this a lot but it’s a bit of a cheat, no? A mashup of Lenny Penne and Play the Road, not exactly in the spirit of Drift.

I like it. It's got a great energy. Puts me in mind of the Only Fools and Horses closing credits.

Ha, this one is a bit crazy. Made me think maybe this one was Underworld's "We Didn't Start the Fire".

I mean... no 5 Points, but this is pretty cool
Lenne Penne + You Do Scribble (Abbey Road Version) + 'Drive the Road' + I think I hear a bit from 'Another Silent Way'
also the vocals are catchy as hell!
Episode 5 was more of a 'challenging listen' for me than other episodes, but this really rounds it off in a good way

S T A R makes a quick appearance in the DRIFT Trailer at 1:31.
By my reckoning, the only music in the trailer that we didn't get (so far; could still be on the boxset) is the harmonizing voices right before S T A R's appearance.

Can here to say that I LOVE this, it's a serious earworm, and the kind of weird that only Underworld can produce. It reminds me a bit of Push Upstairs in that way. I can't think of any other artist I know putting out something like this.
Bangin', especially when the extra drums come in at 1:54 and are shortly buoyed by the lovely synth pads. Gimme a 12 minute version of this that wriggles and writhes into stranger territory, yes please.

Yes, they also happen to be the exact two-chord synth pad used in Dune.
And although it's in a different key from the two-chord pattern used in Play the Road, given the tonal similarities, I think it's the same sample, just pitched up. I had initially dismissed them as related when the trailer first came out, but its appearance in S T A R alongside the Play the Road percussion too has convinced me they're the same despite the pitch difference.

Although possibly coincidental, I also picked up on the chord similarities. I'm working on a continuous mix of the Sampler/LP tracks. They fit together, stylistically and melodically, very well.

Worst Sequence:
I spy Dr Dre, Dr Dre on the Towy, I spy David Bowie
David Bowie in the ring, I spy Dr King, Dr King on the tele
To an American, towy and tele sound exactly the same (whats a Towy?) and the two "drs" is also weird.
Best Sequence:
Nye Bevan at the top, I spy Iggy Pop, Iggy Pop at the wheel
The beat drop and full-layered comeback at Iggy Pop is perfection.

Maybe the river (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/River_Tywi) or the railway (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vale_of_Towy_Railway)? I'm not sure what Dre would be doing on either though.

Rebel Tech Version played on MAH: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0009l5r
skip to the 41 minute mark or so...
I've got my own strong opinion on it and it's giving me flashbacks to that Iggy Pop EP, but i'll let that one simmer. it's not a minor tweak and made out to be a whole new version, though. this is genuinely... something else.

Very peculiar. I actually like all the new noises and sounds, but the structure of the song has basically been destroyed. The original had those big drum sections between the verses, sort of simulating a rousing chorus, while this version feels like it's constantly building towards some kind of blistering beats that never come.

yeah it's like they replaced the "Lenny Penne" bit with "Trapped". though it's a bit more bonkers
tbh I was hoping for something like this, you've always got the originals. the more tweaks on the boxset they do the better

It reminds me of the Phonestrap series where Rick tried out wildly different musical ideas in each version over the original conceit.
I noticed that the last verse in this version also comes in on the offbeat, like the single/EP version, so I guess that was an intentional choice.

No comments on this? Now we know how Rebel Tech version sounds, presumably it will be on the Sampler edition, so its quite interresting to have it released as a preview what can we expect. From me big thumbs up, its such different and maybe more faster version than the original?

ok well if no one else will say it,
we've been talking about it in the regular S T a R thread. I hated it when I first heard it, but I came around to it in the context of the album
On a totally unrelated note, I might stating the obvious, but I just discovered that they took inspiration in a children's book called... "Each Peach Pear Plum". :D
