I remember first hearing push upstairs live (everything, everything) and being utterly blown away by the synthy Tom Tom loop and the extra percussion that took a muscly tune and turned it into an absolute stormer.
I’ve been looking for a version of the track that uses those mental element but never found one. In fact the only thing that comes close to using that loop is the Roger Sanchez mix.
Anyone know why it never made the album or full length of it versions?

Sorry, those elements are live exclusives only, I guess. You can hear them even on pre-album performances, like 1998 Eurockéennes Festival, so they could have been in contention for the album version if Rick had wanted it.

Which elements do you mean? What's the time stamp in EE?
Such a great song. I recently discovered that the 1992-2002 version is also different to the album release.

Comes in at 3:53 on EE.
The Beaucoup Fish version is basically a bit of an edited version. 1992-2002 has the full unedited version. It was also released on the singles as "The Full Length of It" version.

Ah! The "I can see youuuuu" bit. I love that. Fucking tune.
In 1992-2002 the vocals (not lyrics) are different, it's not just longer! Different arrangement, too...

I always consider that being a modified synth line coming from Dirty/DirtyGuitar.
At least, it's not just Tom Toms ;-)
