Hey all - sorry if this is the wrong spot to post. I've been trying to figure out part of the lyrics for the song crocodile. There's a section of the song that I can't figure out. The lyrics websites just list it as "Vocoder stuff". The section i'm talking about is at about 5:10 in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqPhq30840E

The best I can tell it starts with "It's a problem of..." but I could be way off

anyone know?

Matt

The Ame mix has the clearest version of the vocals but it's still nearly impossible to know.

Wondered this myself for a decade. Gave up hope of ever finding out. The old way used to be gleaning snippets from the Tomato art-jam graphics used in live shows. You'd see a snippet on screen and be like, "oh THAT'S what he's saying!"

You might spot an untreated version somewhere in the radio broadcasts.

I can't actually remember which radio show, but I'm sure I wrote the lyric down somewhere...

The lyric is "Needs a couple more verses"

The radio show had "Need a couple more words here" sung to the same tune :-)

Cant believe that made it into the finished version.

Thank you sooo much! That lyric has driven me crazy for years! I always thought it was "Need your car for my first day" or "Need your car for Mother's day!" Ha ha! 😂

Yeah, me too! I always thought that the line had some deep meaning, or at least made sense in the context of the tracks. Ah well, lots of vocalists "blues" a bit when tracks are in progress. Bless 'em for their honesty in keeping this throwaway in the final mix.

At one point didn't Karl say that it was a verse in Latin? I seem to distinctly remember that. In one of the radio shows maybe. He could've been misdirecting us on purpose.

I think that was a classic Karl non-answer.

Ha, I love that this made it onto the final version, and that they just mangled it so no one would know.
