Hi all,
I thought i'd get an idea of how many people managed to buy a ticket for the Festival Hall gig and also maybe to hook up those people who didnt with people who have spares for some reason. So please just simply reply with whether you got a ticket or want a ticket and i'll update this post with a list.
After that its a case of pairing people up, and also getting an idea of how many people there will be at a possible Dirty Meetup. People who didnt get tickets are also of course welcome to the Dirty Meetup as well (so if thats you then you should also say something to that effect). You never know, you might be able to pick up a ticket there.
MEETUP: The Ship on Wardour Street from 5pm. Before that The George (also on Wardour Street). Message me for phone number or contact me on FB / Twitter (@stimpee). If we are not in The George, we are in The Ship (or vice versa). As you can see they are almost next to each other: http://goo.gl/ScMmk6
Distance from The Ship to the South Bank Centre is just over a mile, and just over 20mins walk. See the map here: http://goo.gl/AlYlbo
Come on, I know there are loads of you out there who got tickets...

Going.
I went to see Jon Hopkins at the RFH last week (and met Karl there before the gig). What I can tell you is that they tried early on to police standing/dancing but once the beats reached a certain pitch there was just no point as the whole place was on it's feet and we were all fine jumping about the place. Quite a few people just made their way down the front and were dancing in the aisles. I don't think the staff are quite used to dance music crowds.
The sound system is superb. The staff are lovely. You can get served at the bar nice and easy.
It's gonna be AMAZING.
FWIW I got 8 tickets. I suppose there'll be loads of you screaming about that but I figured it would sell out quick so I joined the RFH as a dual member so me and a mate got 4 each in the member's pre-sale. I clearly wasn't the only one with this idea as it took 45 mins to get through online and on the phone, and I'm sat (sorry, dancing) somewhere in the middle tier. All but one ticket is taken. If it hasn't got a home by Oct 10 I'll post on here (face value of course).

Will be up for a meetup.
Presumably this dirty meet will be at The Ship on Wardour St?

Well, either that or The George, which is where Karl used to start the night. I suggest doing both. Begin at The George and then move to The Ship. Theyre both tiny. I've been in them before...
Karl Hyde on Born Slippy: "The lyric was written on a drunken trawl through the streets of Soho. Nights back then started at the George on Wardour Street and this one ended up moving to the Ship just down the road. I came back from the toilet and all my companions had left apart form this girl who was the most blonde I’d ever met. I’m pretty sure she was sat with Bill Bailey at this point. I remember pulling a tenner out of my pocket and saying, “Get a round of drinks in” before wandering off towards the tube."
Bill Bailey inspired Underworld's hit track Born Slippy, frontman Karl Hyde has revealed. He told Radio 4’s Front Row that he wound up drinking with the comic – who he didn’t know – in The Ship on Wardour Street in Soho, and gave him a fiver to get a round in. ‘I remember him looking at me with a bemused stare,’ the singer said. Until this week, Bailey was unaware of his role in creating the famous ‘lager, lager, lager’ refrain.
"Karl Hyde (vocalist, Underworld): We used to go out drinking in Soho and I ended up in the Ship on Wardour Street. All the lyrics were written on that night. A drunk sees the world in fragments and I wanted to recreate that. I was inspired by Lou Reed's New York album and Sam Shepard's Motel Chronicles. I was into flash photography as well, so I was walking around Soho with a notebook and camera, just observing things. In those days I'd open the book whenever a musical idea inspired me. Rick [Smith] came up with a rhythm and I started singing over it. The vocals were done in one take. When I lost my place, I'd repeat the same line; that's why it goes, "lager, lager, lager, lager".
" Born Slippy is about a journey from The Ship on Wardour Street up to Tottenham Court Road tube station and then catching the night train back to Romford. I can plot it out through the words. It was pointed out to me it might be good to leave a few clues as to what you’re talking about and there was a real crisis for me there."
By the way, Europa on Wardour Street (where Karl found someone shopping), was just up the street from The George and was a drinks shop (which would explain why Karl was in there), and is now Ryman Stationers. See: http://www.allinlondon.co.uk/directory/1160/21343.php for details.

Back in 1997-98 the Ship was a regular haunt of mine, it was a great pub, where the bar staff dj-ed between pulling pints and serving customers. At the time I didn't make the connection between Born slippy and the pub, though I did smile when i bought a bag of crisps in the Europa store.
Back in 1994, they used to play born slippy live (a tape recording of the Tramshed gig off radio 1 was my first underworld experience and i played it so much), as quite a different song than the hit single.

Hello all,
Coming over from the Netherlands on friday the 10th.
Is there a meet on Friday or only at Saturday?
Maybe someone wants to hook up on friday evening too?
I have a ticket in the back, just lucky to be there. My girlfriend really wants to come with me, but I guess it's impossible to arrange a ticket for her.
Hope to receive some reply, as it would be nice to have a drink and chat with more dirty's!
Greetings from Holland,
Martyn

Long time lurker, managed to get good seats for the RFH, and tickets for Manchester too, going with my converted (and now very hooked) better half. Staying in a swanky hotel close by and making the most of a long weekend in the big smoke.
Might be less lurking over the next 6 months, looking forward to the re-release on Monday - hope that Topspin deliver ;-)

Well, I've not been a regular poster round here for years now - since before the domain-change, I think. But I do still have an old brown-era dirty shirt to shore up my hardcore credentials.
Didn't manage to get RFH tickets, (although I may have spares for the Apollo next year), so if there's spares going I'd definitely be interested, and a meetup would be fun either way.

There are spares going. I have been in personal contact with 2 people who have a spare and would like to see it go to a Dirt for cost price. See main post for meetup details.
Haven't posted here for years (or ever much really) but will be excited to see dirts and the Ship :)

Hello. I'm coming and I fancy a meet. I used to be pretty active on these boards from about 2002 to 2008ish. My first ever gig was Underworld at Bristol Academy in 2002, when I was 14...
It'd be good to meet some like minded people and some old names!
also I don't know then the 'thee' part in my name appeared - probably listening to too much throbbing gristle.

Last chance saloon
I've 2 tickets for RFH 11//10 Rear Stalls Row DD. Failing an intervention by the man upstairs, I can't go...but am happier that I have Manchester tickets.
Does anyone still need/want tickets? I can post straightaway with next day signed for delivery and all I want to do is cover my costs. So I suggest £105 all in for both tickets and postage. Happy for Paypal payment.
This is me http://about.me/grahame.whitfield so you can see who I am and that I'm real!
If I can't sell 'em for this much, I may well just drive down last minute and take a freeloading chum!

This is probably the wrong place for it but I am desperate to go. Sadly I am based in New Zealand and cannot attend (for obvious reasons)
But I'm HANGING out for one of their art prints that they ONLY sell at the gig..and not online for some reason.
If anyone is going and is buying an art print...would be keen to buy a spare? I will compensate you handsomely and happily pay for the print, shipping and your troubles.
Please help.
Have fun tonight...very jealous of you all
