Pretty sweet little toy that shows the popularity of various music over time. From the about page, "The Music Timeline shows genres of music waxing and waning, based on how many Google Play Music users have an artist or album in their music library, and other data (such as album release dates)."
There's a few things here and there I question, but overall it's a really cool project. The inclusion of Gorillaz Demon Days (a favorite) in dance/electronica for example, and how things are displayed and presented, and conclusions one is lead to, for another. The fact that smack my bitch up is on every 3rd persons android phone skews the presentation to show The Prodigy as being on par with Kraftwerk and outstripping Aphex Twin and our beloved Underworld (whose only blip in the larger picture is about when expected) within techno.
