It's like a hype for artist to reissue their greatest moment remastered 10 or 20 years after their first release. So any plans for Underworld to have their moment in 2014 with Dubnobass (20 year celebration box set or so) and 2016 for Second toughest in the infants ?
Would be nice ;-)

Except that dubno came out in 1993. :)

They already reissued it in 2000 didn't they? came with rez and why, why, why on a disc 2 if memory serves.
edit: Not that I don't want them to or wouldn't buy it if they did...

I've looked it up on the web and I find 1994 for Dub. Anywho: something like the last reissue of Mellon Colly from the Smashing Pumpkins will do ;-)

Ah, that's right, it was Jan. 24, 1994. It was originally supposed to come out in Nov. 1993, but didn't actually make it until Jan.

...AND ALFIE THOMAS!!!!
I might not mind that if Karl brings back his sideburns from underneath the radar... hehe
In reality the only throwback i'd hope for is a looser setlist/song structure again.

Dubnobass and STITI are in my top 3 for albums. Not for Underworld, or for electronica. For all albums, for all music. I really hope they have special limited edition boxed sets for both of them. I will definitely buy both if they were made.

What's the other one? Just curious.

While I would certainly purchase any theoretical products described as such, I would much rather just see some new output from the pair (not that I'm not looking forward to edgeland...).

This could easily be a Kickstarter project
e.g http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/rueroyale/join-the-journey-of-rue-royale-as-they-make-a-new
Rue Royale raising money to record an album have made 10grand from 425 people.

Would they need a kickstarter? That's usually kept to situations where the fundraisers need help funding a project first. I imagine they have the funds/connections/gear themselves to get whatever they want recorded and probably mastered without too much trouble. On the other hand a kickstarter would fit VERY nicely with their early ideas of getting paid to do work upfront, and give a good avenue to communicate with fans during the process of making it.

Yep, I've done Dirty Epic & River Of Bass... Skyscraper is up soon.....
For those who don't know, Simon Gogerly is UW's sound engineer/mixer of choice since Barking.

Perhaps the Dirts should try willing other things into existence? I could post my Underworld wishlist if that'd help.

This classic album is in urgent need of remastering & a 5.1 mix wouldn't go amiss aswell :)

the only thing about remasters and box sets these days is that they're compressed and limited to death, got the crap squished out of them. and new mixes are almost always worse than the originals.
if they could just take the tapes and NOT DO ANYTHING TO THEM, and put them in a box set, that would be great.
the unfortunate thing these days is that the CD is dead— sales would be terrible. i would love it on vinyl but you'd have to have like 15 records to fit all of the stuff on there.
So what is from the era that would be on the box set? It would have to be a 3CD set at minimum.
Cowgirl (Long)
Cowgirl (Irish Pub in Kyoto)
Cowgirl (Winjer)
Mother Earth (FM Mix)
The Hump (Wild Beasts)

Bigmouth

Jamscraper
Skyscraper (Telegraph)
Rez

... how are you going to fit all that onto a boxset?

i have all that. why on earth do i want that again... and again.. and again... and again.
There must be tons of unreleased stuff from that era: mixes that went nowhere, b & c-sides, live goodies, etc.

i have all that in crappy mp3 form. i certainly don't have a copy of mother earth and would love a physical release.

Listed on that site is (in artist project producer format), "Underworld; new mixes of archive tracks for '2nd Season'; Rick Smith"
Doesn't appear that it's for an anniversary boxset or whatnot. That said, it's good to know that these remasters have happened and a hint at where to find them. That said, "2nd season" doesn't feed much of use from google. :\
edit: Interesting he's done everything released of theirs since 020202/phonestrap. Trial runs that went well maybe?
further edit: an old blog entry saved by google cache (http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:LVwSWmhHFS0J:simongogerly.com/2011/05/manic-street-preachers-%E2%80%9Cwilliam%E2%80%9Ds-last-words%E2%80%9D/+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us) reveals a little bit about their work history.

Nice spot. Steve's been known to chime in on these forums from time to time as well. Let's keep this thread at the top for a while and see if we can bring any of the crew out of the woodwork.

i'm surprised that the video wasn't flagged and deleted?
but then again, underworld has been cool about people posting
stuff.
i guess i didn't listen close enough to see what remastering
was done for the video.

I'd love to get a 94 live show in with the reissue. Disc 1 - the album, Disc 2 - the remixes and demos, Disc 3 - Live 94
