My apologies if this thread exists somewhere. I've been listening to a lot of Haruomi Hosono lately and there's one track in particular (from 1984) that gave me a clear UW vibe. It reminds me a lot of Dark & Long-era stuff, particularly Thing in a Book, or even earlier music like Alabaster White Thing. Didn't think much of this until I heard a track from Conrad Schnitzler, released in 1978 called "Ballet Statitque", which strikes me as something that Underworld had to have heard at some point - "Headset" is nearly a clone of this track, and again it has the feel of their 1993-1995 material.

Here's the Hosono track:

And Schnitzler:

Anyone got other examples? Because I'm fascinated with these two.

Thank you for sharing... I love the music, please share more!

For both music and visuals, this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6eLkIZoGd4c) reminds me so much of the Kiteless/Footwear repairs video...

Okay, here's another one, there's a pretty big similarity between Vangelis's early soundtrack album L'Apocalypse des animaux (highly recommended, by the way) and UW's Big Sister Riverrun EP. Not that there are specific themes/melodies that are lifted, but the overall effect is similar
