No commercial release for the physical CD of the "Diamond Jigsaw" single, so not Underworld but others make the money...

Look, the promo CD was sold at ebay today for US $237 (UK 150 pounds - € 180 Euros):
:eek::eek::eek:

okay, that's odd. I was watching auction. It was only at $11USD this morning. I'm not sure why anyone would pay over $230USD. That's ridiculous! I just got a mint copy of the highly coveted Mother Earth 12" for less than that...

The winner of that auction is a fool. Imagine the tickets to next UW show you could get for that much money.

my guess is the seller has another copy and arranged this sale with a 2nd account or a friend. there's no reason the promo would sell for that much money.

ha ha.. there is no way it's worth that much..

it was going for US$20-$30 just after it came out.

then there was a fixed $50 one that never sold..

those bidders look real though, and i think they
just got caught in a bidding war..it happens...

oh, so the buyer did take your offer?

that's good.. so now you don't have to
worry about looking for that anymore...

time to look for other rare items now..

I think you're thinking of the Om Records promos, on CD-R's with white labels. This is the Cooking Vinyl promo, pressed CD, with silkscreen art and printed card sleeve. And this is the first one of this promo that I've seen. I didn't even know it existed until this auction came up. It appears to be not nearly as common as the CV pressed promos for the other singles.

Even the Om Records promos haven't been that common. I guess being the 4th single, Diamond Jigsaw just didn't get as much promotion.

Crazy
Exactly the same disc with the printed sleeve n disc ( from I think the same seller in Denmark) came up after the release and sold for £50 ( approx $75) I was outbid then last night was madness....
some people got more money than sense.....

very true. and if Diamond Jigsaw happens to be their favourite song, than I guess I can see how someone could pay that much. also, -1 is correct - bidding wars are quite common. i've been in a few myself... won a couple too and later realized i overpaid on the "winning rush" only to find the same item selling later at a fixed price much less than what i paid... it happens.

-1 - yeah The Bang referred me to a guy who had a mint copy and he accepted. Said he received them directly from Rick. :D

as for the next collectible uw item... i think i may be done. i have my eye on an auction for the Ring Road Single - but I won't pay more than $20USD for it. the only other item i can think of is the KOS Italian CD Single. I have the 12" vinyl....

i was really hoping that Between Stars was going to a single release - that has to be one of their best songs - imho. some remixes would have been nice.

ok, this is a rarer version, but still not worth THAT
much money.

good for you..

however, the problem with being a 'collector',
is there are always rare promo's , demos,
and stuff we never knew about that shows up.
and then you'll want it!

very true, however, not much in the way of $200USD is floating around in UW promo's, singles, etc... that's a relief.

I made it a rule never to spend more than EUR 10,00 (incl. shipping) for any second-hand Underworld item. My collection is small, but I'm happy to have most of the major, more or less official CDs. I'm afraid of the day that I'll make better money and start eyeing all those vinyls, promos etc. ...
