Huh. Well, here's how the voting turned out:
1. The Prodigy
2. Daft Punk
3. The Chemical Brothers
4. Faithless
5. Deadmau5
6. Plastikman
7. Underworld
8. Fatboy Slim
9. Orbital
10. Moby
11. Leftfield
12. Kraftwerk
13. Pendulum
14. Depeche Mode
15. Justice
16. Basement Jaxx
17. Groove Armada
18. The Shamen
19. Above & Beyond
20. The KLF
Can't say i agree with the relative rankings, but at least i can appreciate the majority of the artists on the list. Nice to see UW get some love, too.

yea... the majority of those artists "make sense" in the top 20 (although, Pendulum, WTF) ... but I definitely wouldn't put them in that order
and it is nice to see that Depeche Mode are there, especially considering who generally reads Mixmag... and the fact I wouldn't necessarily call them "a dance act" ... more of an "electronically based band that is very smart about selecting who remixes their material" (unlike their contemporaries)
at least Skrillex isn't on that list.
It is surprising that Plastikman is so high - but that's totally got to be due to his recent tour, which got a lot of attention
[edit]
and for some reason - I thought that "Above & Beyond" wasn't a group, but the name of a series of mix cd's??? Maybe I'm just losing touch... or they play cheesy trance?
but all in all - not bad, you know
[edit 2]
you know... UW would've probably had a better rating had they done a recent, extensive tour (with loads of nifty visuals and a kooky stage set up) - like the Chems or Plastikman
I mean - Prodigy fans are insane - so I'm not surprised that they won...

...I hate to be judgey about how people dance (and look), but come on... it's clearly the middle of the afternoon... and apparently it was shot between 2007-2008... and they're dancing like that to "Everybody in the Place"

I mean ... I think it's OK that Plastikman is on there, just b/c at least there's some representation from his genre...
but you're totally right - Aphex Twin, the Orb, and FSOL absolutely should've been on that list
although - I think the Orb have been on another "downturn" in the past few years
...and BoC have been missing in action for aaaaaaggggggeeessssssss

Boards of Canada? Greatest dance act? Really? You dance to that? I listen to them sometimes to fall asleep.

^^ They also work for putting your girlfirend on edge during a harmonious Sunday-noon breakfast.
Given that current acts are always favoured in such polls, I find the list rather pleasant.
