So I was casually listening to the latest 8-4 Play podcast (http://www.1up.com/do/minisite?cId=3181465) ( 8-4 Play 6/17/2011: CHILD OF MIZUGUCHI) this morning and found out in an early version of the video game Rez, it was made up of all Underworld music (discussion starts around 5:45)

I wonder if Underworld denied it, or if it was just a temporary soundtrack.

I would love to see/hear this, I can't believe I didn't hear about this before. Anyone else have insight on this?

love the nuxx mix with the boss... shame it wasn't released with uw on it, afterall the entire game was based upon their track name rez...:(

Hmm, I wonder if it's possible to extract the music from the game image? It sounds to me as if they've either recreated a lot of the loops or they've had access to more loops than the iDrum versions of the these tracks had. Could be really interesting for remixers!

It definitely sounds like recreations at some parts - Rez/Cowgirl in particular.

Word is that, yes, its just parts of the songs, looped.

So, as some of us know, way back when the game Rez was in development, it used music from Underworld for it's areas. It was intended to be part of the final game, but Underworld declined as they didn't want their music in a game where you shoot things.

Well. I have the midi file that contains the instrument patterns for the versions of Cowgirl, Rez, and Born Slippy used in that build... Not the actual samples they used, still working on that, but here... Hope it's useful...

Edit: Sorry, I searched and didn't find another thread...

And oh wow. Someone posted an old video of mine here... A video I've since put in private mode.

I've hacked the game Rez for two or three years now, so I know it inside out, almost. I can say with certainty that in the final version of Rez, the Born Sippy chord still exists (And is used), and also a half second loop from the song Rez...

Hey, sorry for the bump and this also being a double post.

I've got a better recording of the first level done, and I'm working on getting the samples from the beta build. This video also shows the third character, which uses vocal samples from .NUXX.

The sounds in this build are a little rough, some being actual samples and some being recreations done by Wave Master, Sega's sound division. I imagine if Underworld had given them permission, they would have been able to use samples directly from Underworld and it would have sounded a lot more polished.

Rez is being re-released in a VR version:

Too bad it doesn't have an "Underworld" mode

"If “de-rezzed” means death, he thought, then “Rez” means “life.”"

Truer words never spoken

The saddest part of that announcement for me was realizing the VR hypeless would not be flying through his VR living room dancing to cowgirl to oblivion

Rez the game did feature UW , I think. Wired have an article out saying that the soundtrack is out soon featuring music from it. Wasn't Oceanonic (sp?) a rumoured track?
