drink a few beers, light a cigarette, turn the lights off and listen to 'push downstairs'. stop hating it. it's beautiful.

The only Underworld song I truly, truly hate. With "Please Help Me" in its place, Beaucoup Fish would have been flawless.

i've never actually heard 'please help me'. and i think i have it on a CD somewhere.

i remember being in middle school and rapping the lyrics, because thats how karl's delivery sounded to me. i think this song made the make-out list several times over in headset.

someone should start a poll for the worst UW track... and mk2and3 only
ring road is by far the worst track ever, the music is not too bad, but those vocals...oh man.

stop hating on "push downstairs"
I've actually gotten several people into UW by playing them that track... even my father - of all people!
It's miles better than say... "Surfboy" "Cuddle Bunny" "Trim" "Airtowel" (yea - I said it, PD is better than Airtowel)

Still don't get why this was on the album, should been Please Help Me. This sounds like a demo for PU.

I think it would've made a much better B-Side for the Push Upstairs single. They could have made room for that extra verse in the actual Push Upstairs if they left it off the album. And then they'd still have some room left over for the full ending of Moaner.

to me, it's like bringing the album full circle. i know only some of you are prog heads, but to me that's very important. for example, take the track 'dancing with the moonlit knight' by genesis:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgyUaTRWXLU&feature=related
and the last track on the album, 'aisle of plenty'.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtIlJmfD2Wc
the second song 'aisle of plenty' isn't really significant on its own, but without it the album would be incomplete. the same goes for push downstairs. to me, beaucoup fish sort of tells a story in music, with recurring themes and lyrics. i don't know what the story is about, but it feels like a musical journey, versus second toughest in the infants which really feels more like a collection of songs to me. all i know is that cups-push upstairs is dawn, kittens is the end of the sunset, and push downstairs is twilight. something like a mama and moaner are nighttime.

Appealing depiction of the Lotsa Fish Journey, Bryant.
Strangely, up to now, I hadn't seen BF this way, but always thought similarly of STITI, esp. with Juanita/Kiteless To Dream Of Love - Banstyle/Sappys Curry - Confusion The Waitress so smoothly flowing into one another. Air Towel - Blueski - Stagger are the perfect conclusion after the heavier Rowla and Pearls Girl.
Interesting to see how perceptions differ even among fanboys. :)

push downstairs is just a downtempo version of push upstairs. simple as that. please help me is a cool song though. maybe on that box set we keep hinting at eh?

wait - extra verse on "Push Upstairs"?
I don't remember that... is it only on "live versions" of the track - or is it on the "Full Length of It" mix?
and ... if any track is going to be taken off BF - it should be "Something Like a Mama"
even when they play it live - it basically sounds nothing like the album version (b/c it's crap)

?
sorry i had to read that one again, had me rolling pretty good. i think i see something now i dont see before. we may all be underworld fans, but we all clearly don't listen to them the same (i think, i've never interacted with a real underworld fan before so i can't say), but i cant think of another band that does that. maybe radiohead, but some of their songs are loved by the masses whether they really like them or not, because they haven't got the character to say otherwise. underworld fans on the other hand call that shit out!
random underworld fan: "hey rick and karl nice job on always loved a film!"
underworld: "oh yeah, thanks, yeah its one of our favorites!"
random underworld fan: "yea, well, i think its a piece of shit, i was just saying good job making it though..."

Personally, I love Something Like A Mama.
Also, yeah, the extra verse can be heard in Push Downstairs and the full length version of Push Upstairs you can find on 1992-2002. It's rather similar to the opening lyrics of Moaner.

Sorry Bryan. Touched a raw nerve. Anything Phil Collins related usually does it. Merry Christmas.

Much as i love Genesis (well, 1970-1981ish), i'm not gonna reopen this old can of proggy worms. Learned my lesson in 2007, can't classify or pidgeonhole some bands, esp. UW!
But anyway, back on track...i do like that "Push Downstairs" echoes the theme and reuses same/simiklar lyrics for a very different effect. PU is all manic energy and longing, PD is a more passive, wait-and-see attitude.
There's not a track on Beaucoup that i would replace. Love 'em all. But if they added "Please Help Me", especially with the "cappe ffuno" part (from the Blue Mountain Jam that used to be on UWLive for those who will ask, "what's that?"), that would be blistering!

Love Ring Road.....one of the best tracks on OWB.....but each to their own. We are all different and isn't that just as well....
And yes love the vocals....it's a...it's a hot day....a lazy day for some but I'm bringing from the inside all these things.....just grand!
