That would be great, but IMHO there are quite a number of items well ahead of it in the "things I'd love to see Underworld do" queue.

well yeah, it would be cool..
but only if they include an extra disc with
demo's, unreleased tracks and other mixes..
(not previously released ones)..
they would be pretty expensive though, and
i'm sure people would digital versions of course
as an alternative..

We are living in an era of re-releases. I would purchase them as a collector, and I totally agree they should include an extra disc with remixes, demos, non-releases items and even some DVD content. That would be cool.

I think this would work with pretty much all of UW's albums...
except for Dubno (even though it probably deserves it the most).
I mean - if you think about it, there are SO MANY bsides and whatnot that you'd take up like... 5 discs (b/c of the two "Dark Train" EPs, Born Slippy, Dirty Epic/Cowgirl EP, Mmm Skyscraper single, Lemon Interrupt, ME/The Hump - plus another disc for the music videos). Oh, and "Why Why Why" & Spikee/Dogman Go Woof
And that's just for released material (not including the dubno demo cassette)
you'd pretty much have to 'disappoint the fans' to some degree.
But - STITI would be a great candidate... fewer bsides and fewer (known) outtakes. Give people a good remastering, nice package, a few videos, etc and it'd make everyone happy

damn, Dubno/Stiti and even BF in those big box formats (with expanded artwork booklets of course) would look awesome. I'm not holding my breath though...

you know... I was listening to AHDO the other day, and it was MUCH better than I remembered.
Although - I should clarify, the playlist also had all the bsides (and 020202) - so it was more than just the plain album.
but yea - way to go -1, now I really want these box sets
which we'll never get
or at least not for several more years
maybe by dubno's 20th anniversary? - it's only like ...two years away right?
...and now I feel old

anyways, dubno came out in 1993/94 - most places,
so that would make the 20th in 2013/2014...
although elements of it came out in 1993 (mmm. skyscraper)..
and non-album tracks rez, spikee, spoonman, dogman go woof etc..

oh jeez. reissues. the plague of the earth.
reissues are only okay with me if:
-they are only remasters, not 'remixes' (i don't mean like wikky-wikky-wak, i mean taking the master tapes and 'rebalancing' all the instruments, surround sound mixes, etc.)
-they are offered on vinyl. CDs are going out more quickly than i would've expected. the formula for success nowadays is vinyl plus mp3.
-if they use my version of cowgirl on dubno (same intro as the album, but with the longer ending from the single).

back in 2003, dubnobasswithmyheadman, and second toughest
were re-issued on vinyl in the UK.. they were half-speed masters
on heavy vinyl...
the other albums are farily recent, and pretty easy to find..

Sunshine was an entirely different set of circumstances. These albums shouldn't be a problem. Darren gets his residuals. I believe UW own the rights proper to all the albums, seeing as they reissued them all on iTunes the other year. So that would actually make it much easier to do these reissues, if they wanted.

i'm not sure i would want surround sound mixes, although they
would be cool to listen to... how many people actually do?
i think depeche mode and talking heads have tried it with
mixed results..
and wouldn't rebalancing the instruments make it sound like a remix?

Underworld should definitely reissue all there CDs. I don't particularly care if they are deluxe box sets although, that would be sweet. I would just like to see them re-released so that I would be able to walk into a store and find their albums. I do not particularly care for mp3 downloads. Don't get me wrong, I like mp3s but, I like to own a physical disc as well. With the majority of Underworlds albums being out of print, it makes it very difficult to get their CDs at a reasonable price. I would particularly like to be able to get a copy of "dubnobasswithmyheadman" with the bonus tracks "Rez/Why, Why, Why," but at the moment I would have to shell out a ton of cash if I could even find it for sale.

2 years ago it was quite easy to get the 2cd Dubno for under 20 bucks via HMV.CO.JP. You just had to want it 2 years ago. None of their albums are hard to find. I can get all of them for under 10 bucks here in town. Where do you live?

Downloads may be the wave of the future, but there will be a solid market for physical releases for years yet, particularly physical releases that include well-crafted packaging and bonus material.

Nice boxes there Raj (http://www.3d-pack.com/ ?)
I was more trying to get people to talk about the contents though. There is still a 74min limit on audio CDs sold (even tho 80mins seems to be "standard") so it would be tough to fit all of it on 3 CDs for some of the albums.
I say cram on as much as possible.

there's too many unknown tracks... if they

however, they have too much unreleased material..

thomas dolby <-good, but still missing a lot
simple minds <- no extra content

underworld remasters
--------------------
intro
--------
if there were remasters for each of the
albums. it would be nice to have extended
material for each of the albums.
i have split as much material available for each
album, only including released material
from singles, the web, and radio sources.
their critical era
-------------------
for the first 3 main albums, we also
have some promo material, and with
dubnobasswithmyheadman, an early
DAT with some extra tracks.
sources
-------
underworld also released several tracks
via their website, including outtakes,
alternate versions, remixes, and live tracks.
this provides a wealth of tracks, not including
the several soundboard sources for their concerts.
some of the tracks from everything, everything
were used as audio only references.
finally, videos for several of the songs were
included for completeness.
i hope this will eventually become realized
or explored by the label.
in the meantime, we can conjecture for ourself
what tracks would be considered for inclusion.
