"Rick's working on a piece with David Lynch..."

Well KCRW did credit it to Underworld and the vocals are Lynchs as he confirmed via his Twitter. Seems possible.

theory 1 - what we heard was a super early version of the track mentioned in the article (which means it's been kicking around for ...how many months?)

theory 2 - b/c of the "mystery song" Good Day Today, and the 'mislabeling' it as being by UW, and it turning out to be Lynch... they decided to actually collaborate

while #1 is probably more likely... #2 sounds more silly and interesting

Wow that was a shocking read, what if?

From Twitter and Facebook:

We've been busy remixing one of the new David Lynch tracks for Sunday Best. The other remixes are from Boys Noize and diskJokke ! . Keep your eyes peeled for the release in January!

Wonder, if it is the same Good Day Today thing...

joethelion

oooh... It'd be cool if they did "Good Day Today"

but it might be even cooler (just b/c it's such a different track) if they did "I Know" (the bside to Good Day Today)

Might be, "I Know" is wicked tho. :D

Ha ha. Underworld is remixing Good Day Today, after all that.

Too funny.

And it's awesome. Very vintage '90s UW. Nice.

yeah, it is awesome. glad Karl redid the vocals. Interesting that they decided to leave in the gunshots.

UW and Lynch follow each other on Twitter and UW just asked him on a Guardian live interview through Twitter, "Do you follow dance music?"

Pretty rubbish remix imo, music really goes nowhere and people not in the now will thin they just filtered of the vocal effects

Interesting that they decided to leave in the gunshots.'Interesting' is a very diplomatic way of putting it. ;)

Since the Soundcloud track is offline, I haven't heard the remix yet. But the gunshots in the original struck me as very cheap (as did the whole track, to be honest).

haven't heard it yet either, but i'm really glad UW is involved after all. Somehow excused Bentley's boo boo back in May.

Still, even though the Lynch track is kind of bizarre, for those few days where it "could have been" by Underworld, that track really grew on me. Nice that it's now got an UW stamp on it

He redid it in a strange way tho. Not sure I like it, a bit moody and mournful line. But fits better these gunshots then. imo.

Good Day Today Underworld remix was aired on KCRW today.

https://twitter.com/#!/2littlebirds/status/12928492630974464

At the end of it, they apparently announced that they would have David Lynch in the studio on Jan. 18, and I believe broadcasting the Underworld session they recorded back on Nov. 1.

Looks like it got pulled as it was only for press/promo purpose. Still crap remix though.

It's a great remix. Reminiscent of their mixes in the mid 90s.

yep its pretty standard (but good) UW remix

sounds a bit like nalin and kane's beachball - then has the dark and long elements of the groove...plus the vocoder - its awesome uw really

finally got around to listening to it (and finding it!)..

yes its very 'standard' underworld .. which isn't a bad thing..

however, was hoping they would do more with it.....

better than the manic street preachers remix they did previously though..

Well, according to "the Vinyl Factory (http://www.vfeditions.com/product/view/25)" the tracklisting is:

Good Day (vinyl 1)

A1. Good Day (original)
A2. Underworld Classic Remix
A3. Boys Noize Remix
A4. Diskjokke Remix

I Know (vinyl 2)

AA1. I Know (original)
AA2. Sasha Remix
AA3. Ratcliffe 'Headz in Dark' Mix
AA4. Jon Hopkins Remix

but what I'm wondering...

is that on a few other sites, or at least this blog (http://exclaim.ca/News/david_lynch_recruits_underworld_basement_jaxx_skre am_for_remix_ep)

5. "Good Day Today (Sunday Best Slow Motion Waltz)"
7. "I Know (Sasha Edit)"
8. "I Know (Skream's Not So Ravey Remix)"

list a few more tracks...
I'm pretty interested in what Skream could do with "I Know"

I'm REALLY excited for this single.

And about the UW Remix, it's LOADS better than the Manic Street Preachers remix (at least, to me) - and totally reminds me of some of those 90's remixes

...a bit like Risingson (except not as repetitive and boring), a bit like Dark Train, a bit like Two Months Off...
I am curious though, as to why they removed the vocals and had Karl sing it - do you think it was b/c of our confusion as to the original track's origins?

So it's like "how they would have done it had it been their song in the first place" ?

finished listening to the
other mixes of 'good day today'..

the underworld one is still the best..
the other ones aren't bad either..
that's the 'good' part..

as far as 'i know' goes...
i don't like the original at all...
especially the vocals..

the sasha remix is very different, but kinda slow
like some of his latter projects/mixes have been..
again, don't really like the vocals.. not too impressive for sasha

the skream remix is a very very slow plodding along type mix..
lots of weird breaks in it..again, not that great..

the radcliffe remix is a little more beat heavy,
but actually more 'techno' and interesting to listen to..
probably the best version.

the jon hopkins remix is another slow droning mix..
not that fun to listen to again..

not to good for those.. but still
worth getting the EP for the other
tracks..

looks like either the deluxe vinyl edition
or the limited cd will be the one to get..

it's been a long time in buying a physical
underworld remix of a track, that's not a promo..
should be pretty cool..

Physical CD/Vinyl is in Rough Trade East today. Most other decent indies should have it too I guess.
£10.99 on CD or £20.99 on vinyl. I've got the CD for the time being, can't justify £21 on a song I'm not that keen on at the moment.

If anyone wants one picking up and posting, just shout at me via PM.

It's a nice package too, the CD comes in a weird gatefold type sleeve with an 'art postcard' inside it which looks pretty cool too.
