Paul Woolford accapella 4, by a hair...mostly for the clearer vocal and the very nice bassline.
But JAL to Tokyo does have a very nice entrance with drums, and then Karl's voice, which doesn't come through in the Woolford mix (especially since the front end is mixed into the end of "Golden Path" by the Chems)

It's credited to Mr & Mrs Christmas in the tracklisting.

thought so. that has a few qualities that i would have a hard time attributing to other artists. i thought it was UW all the way (or M&M Xmas)

the poll is so much more banging... JAL is a nice intro for BLT...em, excuse me
LBT, but it really isn't something that really gets it going... though it being
a nice prince rip-off it does wonders and wunder.:D

the poll is so much more banging...
but not altogether involved.
hard UW tracks are a tricky business that mostly goes well but sometimes feel like they end up sounding hard just because it feels like it has to (*cough* depeche mode *ahem, 'scuse me*).
i think that was one of them, TMO and DA3D don't shy so far from that either.
billy goat would too if it didnt sound so friggin amazing.
i LOVE how naturally dancable JAL is.

When I first heard JAL to Tokyo on Tongy after hearing Bang the Poll I was a little underwhelmed. But the more I listen to it (especially now I have the proper version) the more I love it. And it IS so very naturally danceable.
Also I noticed that Paul Woolford badly mixed the choon at one stage, so the natural rhythm suddenly jumps back a beat, which is particularly noticable now when I listen to the original.

well here i am confused again. the 5+min track from the woolford show is credited as Mr. & Mrs. Christmas, is it not?
so when you all refer to "Bang the Poll" arent you referring to this M&MXmas track? the woolford one, to my understanding, is the 2 or 3 minute one that just keeps repeating, "watching the sunrise, watching the sunrise, watching the sunrise..."
is this a correct statement?

Er.......im thinking Bang The Poll was remixed by PW and his attempt was played on the essential mix. The artist credited was Mr and Miss Xmas who we know only due to us being fanboys/girls. Most people wouldnt know!

i really think that UW sent out the masters under the cover of Mr & Mrs Xmas to Paul Woolford and maybe others, he used discretion and their moniker on the show, because it maybe wasn't yet 'out in the open', but when it became official, i think people like Tongy, just thought it better to come out and say UW as the artist...
either way i think JAL to Tokyo is a much better title....

Woolford played two tracks credited to Mr & Mrs Christmas:
Mr & Mrs Christmas - 'Bang the Poll' [Woolford Accapella 4] (CDR)
Mr & Mrs Christmas - 'Bang The Poll' (CDR)
The Accapella version just has the lyrics 'Watching the sunrise' repeated.
The other version has almost all the same lyrics as JAL to Tokyo (JTT has one little extra part in the middle) and the music is totally different. There is a part where Karl's voice gets all screwed around with and the words kind of break up. The voice is not vocoded and the lyrics are a bit easier to understand.

thank you. so that makes Bang the Poll an underworld production, and not a Woolford Remix. thats what i was looking for. i thought this almost immediately when i heard the stuttered lyric section. those sounds have Smith written all over them.

Since it is a mix, I guess it's possible that Woolford messed with the track. Also Radio1 tracklistings can't always be trusted. :) But, yeah it seems that if it was a Woolford remix, it would list that next to the track.

essentially what will have happened is that UW will have sent Paul a master of his vocal and some instrumental elements of the track and allowed to weave some magic on it...
now it would appear that the original version of KH's vocal was not the version as released on LBT, which itself is a kinda remix of the original (being as its vo-codered / filtered - whatever)and what PW did was use the original vocal in his mix, especially as he has two tracks labelled Bang The Poll accapella 3 & 4, this is a simple deduction
i'm assuming that Paul has broken the vocals about a bit and relabelled them (1-4 or more) for his reference, i also assume that he remixed the version he had before hearing the 'original' as we know it on LBT...
just my thoughts, but i reckon thats how we come to this point...
i think that if we are to see this as a future release that PW version will be included somewhere but the majority of mixes will feature the filtered / vox vocals...
just another $$
