On Discographies, Songographies, Wikis, etc

Hi.

Lately I've been on the prowl to collect UW oddities I don't already have. I got to thinking it would be nice to have a definitive list of every UW release and every UW song known to man to compare against. I'm aware of a few resources of this kind out there (Big Screen Satellite's, Negative 1's) that don't seem to be updated any longer. Likewise there are things like the Rowla.com "Gigography" that serve a particular niche, but I'm interested in the gestalt.

So, what I'm wondering is a couple things:
1) Is anyone else interested in a site like this?
2) Does it already exist? (I'm sure that its possible that I just missed it if it does)
3) Does anyone have a good idea about how to implement it? I'm a computer geek by trade, so I know of a few ways to skin the proverbial cat. My initial inclanation would be to create an Underworld wiki, so that all the data could live there, all interlinked, and available to all to update and edit.
3a) Does this (UW wiki) already exist?

Its all stuff that is part of the born dirty development ideas, but we would like to get people involved in this.. it requires work and research to consolidate the info that we once had back into one place.

An Underworld wiki does exist. At this moment its very bare. However the content was started by me and some others a few years ago on the main wikipedia.

trouble is, that there is so much stuff, and its a right royal pain to keep on top of - hence why my site has not been updated...

the ideal would be a site that can be updated like a wiki, but here on born dirty - which I think is happening / being developed, problem is is that it takes time and I for one don't have it, any longer, hence - why my site is dormant

i still have alot of info but certainly not all...

and as much as there is a market for it here, its still niche...

its a great idea though to revitalise this

Underworldwiki.com is owned by TheBang/Todd. Hasnt done much with it so you'll have to ask him :)

any way the content from your site (which has been pretty helpful for me and I'm sure alot of others here) be extracted, reskinned and incorporated to borndirty.org? just put another tab up by Tour Dates called Discography... just a thought. I, on a part time basis maintain a website for an orthopaedic doctor - so I have some knowledge of web programming... I'd be willing to help in any way. ;)

It sounds like there's definitely some interest, and I appreciate the link to underworldwiki.com.

I think the real questions are:


(as stated by others) Should/can it live at borndirty.org?
Would the folks that have already done some of this (Big Screen, the underworldwiki.com guys) be willing to donate their data to the cause?

I'm definitely capable and willing to do whatever work is necessary to massage said data into whatever format is chosen (personally I'm still very much in favor of a wiki) and to help with any necessary issues on the backend.

all of my info is free and usuable - i have a couple of people who've saved it for me, so its hosted - and it can all be reused / incorportated.

I wanted to initially create a virtual UW museum which would showcase images / sounds etc, from Rick & Karl's 30+ years in music...

...so you could walk around, enter the 'gig room' and view the details of each gig - with samples of sounds and images where available / possible, likewise with the 'discography room' - go through a virtual door - see all the covers / etc, click on enter that 'room' and see what was availible listen to the sounds / see the videos etc... then have an archive room with all the relevant articles facts etc... it's be great, but would have to be done well... ;)

trouble is it works in my head but is probably a big job for someone else...

at the end of the museum there'd be a shop selling new and second hand stuff...

its just my idea... but i don't have the time or skill set to impliment it... just to imagine...

i'd even have it intro'd by Rick & Karl... lol (a la max headroom)

yeah, i've been out of the scene for awhile...
(the last year or so)....maybe more.. feel free to
use any info i had put up..

also, i haven't been working for awhile, so i've
got plenty of time.. AND i FINALLY HAVE MY
WHOLE UNDERWORLD COLLECTION IN ONE PLACE!!
(after a decade or so)..

anyways, i'm not promising anything yet... because i've
tried to get a lot started in the past, but the effort just seemed
to keep dying out, no matter how many times i tried it..

life just keeps getting in the way...

maybe someone else motivated enough can finally get the
job done right!
