Blocked.

I heard a BBC reporter saying that since this law was passed, more than 13,000 soldiers have been discharged for being gay.

Incredible.

Incredible. The last thing our enemies want is to be killed by a gay guy, Deckard. There are standards to be upheld, even in war....

Oh god yeah - imagine that: being killed by a gay guy. (They'd never live it down.)

I gather Dems are going to have another go at passing the legislation later this year. Which means between now and then I'll have to use up all my strength to resist throttling the first person who asks "Haven't the government got more important things to be getting on with?"

. . . then I'll have to use up all my strength to resist throttling the first person who asks "Haven't the government got more important things to be getting on with?"

O.K., look, ya see, this is the part where you say, "uh-huh, but getting them to address these kinds of inconsistencies of social justice, we're keeping them from coming up with new and improved ways of screwing your dumb asses over."

But, like, not like that because that would be the way I'd say it. And it's not polite or politically correct or something.

Hmm, maybe Dems need to shoulder some of the blame (http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/sep/21/dont-ask-dont-tell-senate) here...

"The Democrats have attached repeal of don't ask, don't tell to a defence spending bill in the hope that senators will be reluctant to be seen to vote against financing the military. But Republicans seem determined to call the Democrats' bluff and some potential supporters have been angered by the manoeuvre, saying they would prefer an up-front vote on the issue..."

WOW!! Now black conservatives have theirs too!

All men are created equal, for real.

Is anyone keeping count of all these full time crusaders against homosexuality stroke part-time dabblers in it?

I'm always reluctant to use the line "they're obviously hiding something" at people who oppose gay rights, thinking the charge a little too easy to say and impossible to know.

But (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8556852.stm) time (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/8552804.stm) and (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8665812.stm) again (http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/aug/26/republican-ken-mehlmann-gay)....

It's got to the stage where you no longer need a finely-honed gaydar. You just look for the words "anti-gay activist" on their resumé.

(Or "US Republican" ;) *ahem* Larry Craig, Mark Foley, Ted Haggard... )

Ah, here we go... The Top Ten Outed Right-Wing Homophobes (http://blogs.miaminewtimes.com/riptide/2010/05/unless_youve_spent_the_last.php)

I know most here do not like Kieth Olbermann, but just because you don't like him doesn't mean what he reports isn't the ugly truth. Check out #5 on today's program. New and improved indeed.
