Wow, this is absolutely stunning. Seriously well made, beautiful, and well worth the price.
Full marks to UW for the packaging & design, and for getting it through my door before disc 2 hit the p2p networks - a lot of lessons could be learned by the rest of the industry :)
My signed art print is number 454/650.... and if you'll excuse me, I have to go listen to CD2 now!

Confirmation that the alternate versions disc was for us dirts...an extract from the box book is below. Really impressed with the quality of the box set - I kind of feel this box set (including the alternate versions disc) really was 'hand-crafted' for the fans...:)
"Much of the material on Barking took years to become the tracks you've just purchased. You may have heard some of them in one form or another at gigs, on internet radio broadcasts from Lemonworld, maybe even on the Live Here Now series of releases. Judging by what we've read on the Dirty Forums, some of you will prefer them to the actual finished article! This collection is made up of versions of the tracks that eventually made up Barking at certain points in their development. They are neither the first nor the last takes, the best or the worst, the point at which we thought we had a smash, or the point at which we held our heads in our hands. They are'nt even the place at which we handed them over to our wonderful co-producers on the album. What they represent is part of the process and a place where we got really excited about what we were creating. Peace. Rick & Karl

You'd think the 'official fan site' would have 1 connection with underworld who could have provided pics already. Or done something, anything for the forum fanatics who buy anything and everything Underworld related. Suppose we could get some info if Underworld start brewing rum instead of making music.

It is highly frustrating that the OM shop is selling it cheaper than we got it directly from UWLive. That is exactly the wrong business model for bands to use. It should ALWAYS be cheaper to buy direct from the band's website.

yeah, but ordering direct from UW means you're paying shipping from the UK. OM is in the US, so obviously shipping would be much cheaper. i'm in the US and ordered from UW just because I didn't want to miss out, and tiny or not, a tomato print is a tomato print. i wasn't going to miss out on that for anything.

Mine arrived yesterday (UK)
Bit hectic at home so didnt get much of a chance to admire it but it's a beautiful thing :)
It's bigger than i expected too. Nice box with a slide-off lid. The contents open like a chunky photo album with a booklet with photos etc on the left, and the 3 disks arranged on the right.
i love it :)
i havent even opened the vinyl package yet - lookin forward to tonite...
I just listened to disk 2 and my first impressions are... that i like some of the tracks more than others. I dont think strumpet groove is as good as the live versions - maybe it's a version from before the live shows... i LOVE having a studio version of YDS (but i like Scribble too). Hamburg Hotel Essex is cool - i think i like it more than HH. DJ sounds v much like it's described - Demo Mix.
I will give them all more listens of course. I think i'll end up with a Barking playlist with the main album with a few disk 2 tracks added 8)
thanks underworld - loving the album

I'm in the US and I ordered it for $46.32 after shipping from Amazon UK. I really only have one tiny, miniscule complaint about this set. I wish I was able to remove the book from the box. It's large format though, so it's not like the UNKLE War Stories ltd edition for example. It's easy to see the details without worrying about creasing the spine. I love the little write-ups for each song with input from Rick and Karl and the collaborators.
All albums should be released like this.

WHY ISN'T THE MIDDLE AGED MEN VERSION OF ALAF ON THE DVD?!?! That video is hilarious, but no, we get some kid building a tiny barn frame. Or a bored kid and fruit on a pedestal. Not being one of those artist-types, it's all nonsense to me. Oh well. At least the music's good.

That type of rubbery "spindle" is used quite a bit nowdays. You kind of have to use a fingernail to coax it up through the hole, but when you do, the discs will be snug and stay put.

Okay I'll spill the beans on the secret instrumentals....:D
If you just watch the video DVD on a regular store bought DVD player, the credits (featuring instrumental Moon in Water) roll and then you are taken back to the main title menu.
But...if you put that DVD into your computer's DVD-ROM drive and view the actual VOB file for the credits section, you'll see that the video extends after the credits to include a bunch of exclusive photos that are set to instrumental versions of Lousiana and Grace. Running time for the audio rip of the 3 track "Barking Instrumental Medley" is 11:12 total.
If anyone really really can't find it and needs additional help shoot me a PM and I'll try to make it a bit easier for you.;)

considering i ordered a few days before the release date and the charge showed up in my statement just a few days ago, i'm guessing i'm one of those that will be getting his box set really late.:(

Mine arrived today. The box is slightly damaged, the one end of the lid has been torn on both it's corners, I've tried a hasty job to try and tape it from the inside so the box still looks good, hopefully it holds up. Other than that, no complaint, looks beautiful.
Oh, and Art Print # 8 / 650. :D

Still haven't gotten mine here in San Francisco, either.
I'm starting to freak out - like, maybe it came, the post office left a note, the note fell off the door, the package got shipped back, and there's NO WAY to track it!
I feel like a TERRIBLE Underworld fan that hasn't been able to listen to the album yet (except for a couple tracks on the Underworld MySpace page that I couldn't wait to hear...) and is used to getting the albums the day they come out...
AND, the only live show they are doing here in SF is a crappy package deal sponsored by a lousy local radio station.
Whaaa, whaaa, whaaa. Woe woe woe is me.

Finally got mine today. Ordered it from Underworldlive.com on August 2nd. I love it, just what I had hoped it would be. Listening to CD2 as I type this.

Ahem.
Well, I guess it just took some self pity to kick the universe in gear because...
I GOT MINE IN THE MAIL TODAY!
Literally JUST opened it, but - HOLY CRAP! I had NO IDEA it was SO BIG. Totally thought it would just be standard CD size. It's SO LOVELY.

Ask and you shall receive... I got home from work and saw the mail woman walking up w/a big box and she says, "David..."... and I'm like, yes, that's me! :D
This is best box set I've purchased! I am so happy! Print 79/650.

We should compile a list of the people who ordered the boxed sets and what number they got.

Just curious, which carrier is delivering the boxset once it hits US soil? I had mine sent to my wife's work, I could give her a heads up on which carrier to grill with a stapler and holepunch. I haven't ordered anything Royal Mail in a very long time, since I was trying to snatch up all of the Moving Shadow CD Sampler pieces. My wife's work gets all three, FedEx, UPS, USPS.
It blows living in a small town because it's hard to get ahold of the shippers cept if it's USPS.
But, I just saw a bunch of Americans get thiers sooo here's hoping!

USPS delivers it. I didn't get a knock on the door because it doesn't require a signature.

Mine arrived Friday, but I had it sent to my parent's house since I don't trust the resident's of my building. Beautiful box and piece of work, but all of the discs were loose when I cracked the box open.
