Todd,
I`m going with Chino tomorrow! We`ll be sure and get lots of pics.
I`ll write something up about it too!
Also, there`s going to be a CD for sale at the exhibit with the BGM
music - composed by Rick.
RICK SMITH "BUNGALOW WITH STAIRS 1" - 2,500円
I`m planning on picking it up!
Anyone else going?

It`s on this page towards the bottom:
http://www.lapnet.jp/event/event_r100825/topics.html#mainVisual
From what I can read, the BGM music for the event was composed
by Rick and it will be available for purchase as a CD. I`m guessing
it will be a lot like the stuff we heard at the New York exhibition a
couple of years ago.

Just got back from the exhibit and all I have to say is that it was amazing!
Watching the art process unfold over the 8 hours or so that it took to
complete the shed was truly inspiring and unforgettable! I talked to Mike
Gillespie and he said that this event was in the works for over 8 years!
Needless to say, Rick`s background music was amazing too! A perfect
soundtrack to accompany Karl as he worked throughout the day. So
glad they put it to CD!
I`ve had a long day, so I`m off to bed, but I will write more later!
"You have to know when more is too much." - John Warwicker (talking
to me about the process of adding layers to the shed, and when it would
be finished) I love this quote because it can certainly be applied to just
about anything in life!

It was a great exhibit indeed. It was great to see Karl Hyde so up close and to see him paint the shed. Unfortunately, he didn't interact with the fans there but I guess that is understandable to some degree...
Got the CD and the photo book. Got a free poster which was a little difficult to carry around all night. Hope you all enjoy the exhibit when you go.
Total cost for today was 6400 yen but it was worth it, I think...

whats on the cd?
All the ambient background music / sounds for the event which were
created by Rick!
Examples: The lush pads with the "This girl goes to Japan" vocals on
top (heard at the New York exhibit 2 years ago).
It`s got some elements (beats/samples) from "Winjer" and "Something
Like a Mama" as well!
I also recognized the BGM they opened a few shows with last summer
(Toronto, SF, etc...). It sounds like heavily vocoded/unrecognizable
speech with a light pad/effects underneath.
John W. said that some of this stuff was 15 years old, but that Rick
(being the perfectionist that he is) finally got around to finishing it all
and decided to put it out on CD.

Just got home from work a while ago and had my first chance to listen to
the CD with headphones. Absolutely amazing!!!
There are constant references in the female background speech/vocals -
in both Japanese and English - to "Born Slippy" and Beaucoup Fish songs!
Here are a few quotes:
"Believer, believer, believer, believer..." (Something Like a Mama)
"Born Slippy in the toilet...in the convenience store...Born Slippy good"
- repeat in Japanese
"That`s very scary fighting dog"
"It`s like Tom and Jerry...you go thing, thing, thing, thing, thing..."
There`s surely more I din`t catch, but at any rate, this is fantastic!
btw - John Warwicker told me that on one of the tracks the source is a
conversation Rick recorded of them as they walked through Soho years
ago. He said that Rick pitch shifted it upward so that it sounded like a
woman/women talking!

i'm in the same boat BLD...
i mean i'm willing (and so is most of this forum) to buy any garbage the band is willing to put out, so why not sell something like this that actually sounds good? isn't the uwlive shop just made for stuff like this?

Why don't you guys wait until the exhibition is over and see if they show up in the Shop?
BrotherLovesDub
08-26-2010, 05:25 PM
Will it be available in the shop? Will it be CD or download? When will we know?
Why doesn't someone from the band's management make a fucking effort to keep the largest collection of their fans in the loop about new releases and availability?

Many thanks for this link! Love love!
I have found many objects, creatures and things on those two walls. My fav is the sleeping cat that got one marked eye and the moustached man in the shadow around the corner and the gliding heart on the roof... no I´m not kidding, and you don´t wanna know who the moustached man reminds me of :D Well, I guess it looks different live. I have a quite bad resolution on my screen after all.
The most beautiful piece was when Karl painted the roof in blue. It looked like blue sky with clouds before the paint dried. I really loved it.

Would be curious to see what they charge. The cost here in Japan was 2500 yen, so that's about $30. Kind of expensive for a one CD album (Barking is about $11 on Amazon). I thought the premium on this CD was because of the CD only being available to people who attended the event.

Good point! But then again, everything related to music in this country (especially CDs and
concert tickets) seems to be twice the price of those in the West, so I`m not surprised!:(

I'd gladly pay 30 bucks to own this cd right now. You're lucky, not overcharged.

I'd LOVE for them to make all their album art into iPad/iPhone size pictures, like dubno and barking, as well as the others. Maybe not AHDO, not a fan of that one.
