Hmmm... OK so it would be nice if someone from
the inside told us how they are going to price it.
Do they give you 5 tracks free if you buy 20?
Do you get a free track for every t-shirt you buy?
Do you get to shake rick and karl's virtual hand if
you buy the most tracks that week?
I think this would be fair. Especially so some of us
will save our lunch money for the week to spend
on UWtunes.
Like I said I don't mind paying 150.00 for 150 very
good quality(close to lossless) and tracks that are
fully developed, right?
I think it would be best for all, for mgmt, etc... to answer these questions.
next year.

ASAP.
Except for Yannick, of course. - No more riddles, no more "hints", no more laughing his ass off about dirts interpreting his nonsense talk... that sadistic bastard... *grrrrr* ;)
I'm absolutely sure that all your questions will be answered when the new download and handshake shop is being opened within the next few hours (it's still Monday...).

I think that it should go down one of a few different ways
A) you buy merchandise = you get the tracks
B) you buy the tracks as a whole set (discount)
C) or just pay per download track
...but I've gotta tell you
it better be at least the same sound quality as you'd find on bleep.com (VBR), so everything might not be 192kbps and up... but it will still sound good, you know?
no way I am going to pay for 128kbps mp3's... I mean, you've got to be kidding yourself
...I'd even hesitate buying merchandise with the 'bonus' of 128kbps mp3's... well, unless the merch is something cool enough, that I'd want it on its own anyways

Let's all calm down...things happen out of our control, and we'll have to wait a bit longer. Unfortunately, we all got our hopes up, but i don't think we should start demanding answers or blasting Yannick.
Just my $0.02

what are the point of forums if we DON'T demand answers...:D
in all honesty, we are FANS, some of us are SUPER FANS.
we should find out or be told info before the regular public, right?

I won't spend a dollar per track for some snippet of music that has been collecting dust on Rick's G5...
I have tons of stuff like that on my computer, and you don't want to know how bad most of it sounds...

i doubt it'll be that rough, especially if they do end up charging for it (which i gathered from the word "Shop" that this would be the case).
From Karl's interview on Tong's show, they've been very prolific writing tunes, and i'm not at all surprised by the 150-180 tracks they say they have (consider Moby, also not a hack at making electronic music, has said he had several hundred contenders for both 18 and Play, and B-Side collections surfaced for both those LPs). Heck, R&K do this for a living, and though there are probably some sketchy unfinished tracks, i'd bet the majority are true to UW form!

maybe there will be clumped songs (5 or 6 mixed together) then they'll sell us different mixes...all around the price of $1. all i know is they should give us warning, not just drop, "ok kids here's 180 songs: each with a peice of art work and encoded at 128... all for the LOW price of $2 each"

I agree. Given that Tongy has mentioned a '25 minute piece of music', and we're heard the first bits of it 'Electronic Pt.1 & 2', then I think the chances are good that will be one of the first things available.
Personally, I'll be happy to pay up for something like this, but only if it's in decent quality (i.e. FLAC). Other online shops are starting to wise up to this as well, such as Bleep.com, which offered FLAC versions of the last Autechre album.

yea - but Bleep doesn't always offer FLAC stuff for everything
...and 150 flacs is a TON of space on a hard-drive

No, not really. Like his music or not, he's still a composer. i'm not saying that Moby works the same way as Rick and Karl, i'm just pointing out that it's not surprising that these professional musicians have a large backlog of material to put out.
Yes, i purchased "18" and "Hotel", and was disappointed by both. i wish Moby'd picked different tracks from his pile o' tunes. And maybe that's what the UW boys are asking us to do...help whittle down ideas for proper release?

...please, please, please offer us .WAV files. I mean, for a lot of dirts, sound quality matters!

I never cease being amazed at the sense of entitlement so many music fans have. Particularly fans of smaller groups like Underworld. First everyone begs for them to release something. Then they complain about the quality and the cost; both of which are pure speculation at this point.
The fact of the matter is, they don't have to release anything if they don't want to. Or they could say "screw dance music, let's release this field recording of flatulent pygmies".
My point is, let's just be patient and see what they release.

Thank you for summarizing what i've been trying to say in my head/ on the 'puter for so long.
I guess this is where we insert the old saying:
"You are damned if you do, damned if you don't"
here's another summary: "Just freaking relax all o you drrrrrts"

the only reason why some of us are flipping out is because of the lack of information...
I has nothing to do with the fact that there's been a delay in the release
I mean - those who set up the site, and the 150+ tracks have known for some time now what the terms are for the tracks, and their soundquality...
I'll even give Karl the benefit of the doubt... he may not actually know the fine details, he may not be that hands on with this release... but the people working on the site (as a whole) had to of known (and UW's management as well), as they're the ones uploading the material!
sometimes mystery is good... but this is a bit rediculous - all we wanted was some basic info
but on the other hand, you should never look a gift horse in the mouth, you know? (but then again... you'd at least want to know if you were getting a horse, and not - in fact, a donkey :p )
