Hmm Hmm, knew it before you mentioned. Would be good to have a quality source for uw-rarities...

How about offering wav samples for sale? Like drum patterns or vocal bits from Born Slippy (c'mon, we need another hundred remixes of that)? That would be cool. :)

Would they not just be at iTunes prices? Artwork with each one would be ace to.

why did i get the impression that the music was free, but that they wanted us to buy stuff from the shop to "keep this circle going around"

hmm, well seeing as music is their core business, giving it (all) away for free doesn't really seem like sensible business idea to me.

i don't think that they'll be releasing 150 + bits of music, they may have written that many but i don't think anythings been said about putting them all out?

thats precisely what K said on Radio 1. that they want to put out 150-180 pieces of music and that the web was the best way to do it.

and as for paying for songs, i'd be all for that, but i also understood it to be that the songs were free, and the merchandise was what was to be purchased. (and live shows to make money as well)

i may be way off, but that's how i understood it to be.

the real stuff

I understood it to mean that the live gigs posted on UWlive will be free, and to support bandwidth for that they'd depend on shop sales.

New material will probably have to be purchased, hopefully they'll release it in bundles of a couple dozen or so for $10-15 bucks. Maybe like how some iTunes albums with 15 songs are still just $9.99.

ahhh. well i think that had better be made clear then. i know myself and a few others all interpreted it to mean the music will be free and the merchandise will be purchased. again, i have no problem paying for any of this but i just think it would benefit everyone if this could be made clear.

Yeah, some forward answers would be nice, but that would be breaking tradition around here ;)

well...

all I'm hoping now, is that they'll be better sound quality than 128kbps
I want to be able to burn them to a disc and blast them on my speakers! not just occasionally listen to them on my computer, you know?

I like uw because of their music. i have been a fan since 'second toughtest'

I do own a few uw promo posters and some other non-uw items

I am AGAINST having to buy objects/trinkets or any other non sound related thing to get their music.

nonono. that wasnt what i meant btw. (we now know that we'll purchase music at the site)

what i had originally meant was that the music would be free, but if we would be so kind as to buy products, then it would be appreciated.

its all moot now though. music is gonna be for sale online. i like that idea. im ready to start downloading. (hopefully at 256 or 192 and not 128 like mentioned)

even still, word of mouth, and a bit of proper advertising can go a long way.

really anxious to see how this all unfolds.

i'd rather they just work really hard on ~10 tracks, and make them phenominal, rather than releasing 150-180 mediocre tracks. i don't think that's gonna happen.
