I love the icey Japanese sounding "layer" that comes in the second half....
I like it ok but just ok for now. Hope to see this one evolve more maybe....

the last minute or so has real promise for sure and it sounds better than the disco shit at the start with the chick talking away.....

hmmm, Globe is like Electronic pt1 to me: kinda dull ;)

shake 't higher is pretty cool though.

They both sound great to me. Shake That Higher sounds more like a cool long improv bit than a song though, what with the singular theme.

I really really dig Shake 't Higher. I also thought it was more of an improv, but who knows, maybe some elements of it will appear in a song on the new album (hype alert :p). The track really rocks.

This track is very lyric-heavy, as is Bang-the-Poll/Electronic Part 1. Less repetition of phrases than most UW lyrical songs, methinks.

The bassline is made out of Karl's voice, didja notice? Shades of Juanita, Cowgirl, etc... the voice is an instrument, Karl's said (as have others)!

Word I was the first on line last time.. THE FIRST! So it was then and forever it shall be.

last time, i stepped off a boat in San Diego, boarded a plane to NYC. got in a cab in NY, got out of the cab and stepped into the Hammerstein. (locked my bags in a friends car in the lot across the street)

i had my sea-legs for that last show.

well - I went to school the whole day (had an exam), caught one of the last planes from DC to NYC - checked into the hotel, grabbed a drink + snacks, went down to the show and hopped in line

...just missing the dirty meet

I was so burnt out f/ cramming for my exam, I didn't connect "hey look, there's an UW banner f/ the dirty page" to "hey look, there's the dirty meet, maybe I can hop in line with them"

It was Tenaglia at Arc. After UW we rushed over to the Roxie to see Tiesto until about 5 am, then Arc for some sunrise action with Danny...man that was a ridiculous night/morning!!

i remember Danny dropping TMO and the place going BONKERS! seems lotsa people headed over to Arc after UW.

i also remember sitting on the curb outside the club, waiting for a friend to get his coat outa coatcheck, squinting at the sun and talking with 2 dudes nearly braindead from snorting ketamine all night... they wouldn't shut up about the GREEN LASER!!:eek:111

good times.

oh, and not at all impressed with 'Globe'. i'm really starting to agree with goldfish... if the new stuff (globe, 't shaker, electronic pt.1) we've been hearing is indicative of the UW's current stylee...

i'll be sad. though, 'you do scribble' and 'kenny penne' are fun enough.

not warming up to Globe very much.....or Shake 't Higher. They are like deleted scenes on a dvd....you watch them and kinda enjoy them for what they're worth but you see why they were cut from the film.:D

I completely agree. I was really expecting for the new stuff to be weaker than AHDO, but they've definately brought back the funk for this album, er phase, er whatever. Their music doesn't sound forced either like it did on AHDO and that's making a huge difference. I think that they know that a lot of these songs sound pretty different than their previous material and they don't give a shit. And that's why I'm digging it. :D

Was this a one-off at the Akademic, or have they played it elsewhere? We've seen them play Small Conker and a Twix, Morrocan Meatballs, and others multiple times, and Lenny Penne & Peggy Sussed were released/integrated into the RRP, but I've only heard Globe this one time...

I think it's a great song!
