I just saw this film tonight and was bowled over by it. The writer and director of the film lived here in Portland for a couple of years and there are a few references here and there to Portland which made me smile.

As the film progressed I was reminded a whole lot of Happiness, but not as biting or hard edged.

Me and You has it's heart beating on it's sleve.

I laughed more during the screening of the film than I've laugh in the past two years in the cinema.

When and if the film makes it to your respective city make every effort to go and see it.

I heart this film soooooo much. It's easily one of the best films I've seen all year and in a whole long time.

edit

Saw the film again this evening with a friend. Still thoroughly enjoyed it upon a second viewing. I'm now attempting to track down the soundtrack.

Miranda July was recently on KCRW's film program The Treatment hosted by Elvis Mitchell. Definently worth a listen if you have the time to spare.

holy shit this movie is good.

seriously. i mean wow.

i'm sort of in a space right now where my mind was just obliterated by two really good movies (the other being Rize) so i feel like I don't have the proper words... all i'd do is misrepresent it or make it sound not as cool as it is. it really is.

it's incredibly well written and each part couldn't be acted better. it's just really really really enjoyable and welcoming. Miranda July, wow.

for those that have seen it:
i was sitting next to this dude who i think was trying to behave because he was on a date... so he hardly chuckled during the part where the entire theater was just rolling on the sticky floor.. but then they showed this mug and the dude could just NOT stop laughing. then when they showed it again he busted up again... i'm sure his date thinks he has a thing for cats now.
