it is possible that this is UW, as he's remixed it and as he has released stuff on Underwater Records, Darren Emerson's Label and Junior, the last UW label
i'm listening now for any clues...

listening to it now...will report back
It sure sounds like Underworld to me. Anyone who wants a listen without having to go through the whole essential mix (which is worth listening to anyway) can find it here (for a limited time)

'watching the sunrise over the water'
...sure sounds like UW to me too.....
wow
is this the first single???????

no one else sounds that convincing as Karl...and the mention of the word 'blonde' - well thats a giveaway...
sure sounds like something is happening soon if mixes are going out to prospective 'remixers'
sounds like a nice typical paul woolford acid style remix is heading this way....(if the accapella 4 is anything to go by...)

...but at least we know who this is, and some others might not, outside of UW circles....
so can we have some solid news then boys????

its the second (listed) track that the soundfile is relating to...
the accapella is over something else if i'm not mistaken...
(paul woolford tends to work with a lot of accapella - as i have a few of his releases and there seems to be lots of accapellas on them...)
Oops I totally missed the accapella part. I went through it quickly and this is the only part I could find

This is right on time! Unmistakeably UW (even if credited to the holiday couple, their other output was much more fragmentary and ambient). Spot on banging number that evolves, sounding both like classic UW tunes (shades of King of Snake and Moaner) and like nothing we've heard before!
It's Christmas in October!
there's a torrent of Woolford's EM over at themixingbowl.org (but i think few of you are well aware of that ;) )

just listened to this other mix
its just a vocal sample (an accapella) over some electricity fx...nothing new (really)...although the track name and artist (underworld as opposed to Mr & Mrs Christmas) are different - the track is Bang the Poll...i wonder what the actual track is likely to be called
Bang the Poll or JAL to Tokyo....
mmm...the plot thickens...

Just listened to it, and if thats a new UW song then it blows away everything on AHDO off, vocal sounds very much Karl.
Wonder how Paul Woolford got hold of it, if its floating round the DJ scence, somehthing must be close.

i cant find anything that would ' link ' Paul woolford, to Underworld.
other than releasing a single ( #) on Underwater.
hes from Leeds.
hmmm.
i would have figured hearing something new from Underworld, from Tong first.

Maybe each track from the new LP will be released separately, in DJ's mixes, on the internet, whatever...collect and build your own album?:p
big screen satellite
10-05-2005, 11:58 AM
well my assumption would be that Paul has it because he's remixing it, especially as there are two accapella's called Paul Woolford Accapella 3 & Paul Woolford Accapella 4
i doubt that its out there as yet...Paul has it and likes it and whether its being released or not, it must be something that UW wanted him to work on and / or use...
i suppose it's his property, especially if any of his mixes of it have already been approved...
i very much doubt that its available to any other dj's as yet...although i might be wrong...
onto the Mr & Mrs Christmas debate...
Paul has listed the same track on two mixes as
Mr & Mrs Christmas - Bang the Poll &
Underworld - JAL to Tokyo
so it appears he knows its UW and he also has it at its earliest stage, because one of these names must be an early demo version...type thing, a bit like A Hundred Days Off being called A Hundred Years, before that came out.....

Since this was extracted from a mix, there's overlap with the Chems' "Golden Path - ravehell dub" for a bit... as awesome as the mixed portion sounds, all acid squelchey, i'm thinking it's not fully UW until ~0:50 into the extract.
When i played this in the AM, i thought, "dang, UW's gone acid!" Not that that's a bad thing, but just something to be aware of, the effect of mixing with the former track.
It's still wonderful, though!:)

yeah i do...
although PH may have something else as well....who knows...?
....
anyway before people start hailing this as a new and awesome track...lets assess the facts...its a 'mixed in' track and is quite nice (well pretty good), but i'd like to hear it unmixed on its own in its entiritly before i say i love or hate it...who knows what the actual track really sounds like....
i know we've been waiting for ages, but i feel we're getting close to something being let loose, and until that moment of an official announcement and release of a track, lets hold back on some of the over excitment....
sure its good to hear the sounds of R&K banging out - but lets see what transpires over the next few weeks...
i feel i must bring calm to this feverish proclaimation of 'better than AHDO' bollocks....

uh, it probably sounds the same except for the little bits at the start and end. Do you really think those bits will make that much of a difference that people shouldn't say what they think of the track as it is now?

well it could be a (unnamed) remix of the actual track...
but no...i just think hailing it as all conquering from the relatively short mixed version on the paul woolford mix is a bit much...we've all missed the boys but personally i'd raher hear the track in its actual final (and mastered) unmixed entirity before going 'nuts' about it, thats all....

Man I have to say it again: Bang The Poll rocks!!!! If this is the new direction Underworld has headed, you don't hear me complain. But we'll have to wait and hear. Anyway this track gave me the adrenaline and chills like only Underworld could do!!!
And I agree with King Of Snake, I don't think the studio version of this would sound very different. It's not like Paul Woodford had a different beat running under the track the whole time.
IF the Underworld song turns out to be completely different, I'll always have this recording

Remember when we had the 1.5 second previews of stuff from the dirty broadcast, i can hear a resemblence from the first bit of audio. Not sure its the same as shitty GG, but Karl was definatly singing a fair bit over it.

Okay, so with the release of "electronic Part 1" as officially Underworld, i'm wondering a bit about Paul Woolford's Accapella 4 of "Bang the Poll"...
how much of the track (bassline, beat, effects) do you suppose was remix by Woolford vs. original material by Mr and Mrs Christmas? Except for the vocal, i don't hear a ton of similarity between the Woolford mix and "electronic part 1"
