I just wanted to let everyone know that I did a redesign of darktrain.jp recently to prepare for the new album.
It's nothing groundbreaking/spectacular, but a nice change to reflect the theme of the new album. Along with
that (and most importantly) however, I have finally completed a "beta" version of the new Darktrain Mixer! It
now has it's own page as well:
http://www.darktrain.jp/dtm_2.php
It has a combo box at the top where you can select a song to load and then remix. There are currently only
three songs to choose from, but I am working on several more and will add them over time. There is also a
cutoff filter that can be applied to the main mix!
It's not completely finished (no preloader, no help page, the LED beat display doesn't work), but everything
else seems to work fine and without bugs! It works on every computer I've tested it on (Macs, old Celeron
laptops, etc...), but it is pretty processor intensive, so if you have a lot of other apps open, or drag the
window around, it may glitch a little. Also, it will not work at all on Atom processor based machines!
It may not appear intuitive at first glance, but it is really easy to use.
1 - Select a song from the combo box and wait for it to load.
2 - Press the play button in the transport section.
3 - You can mute/unmute tracks by pressing the "M" buttons at the bottom of each channel (you can also use
number keys 1 - 0 to mute channels 1 - 10 repectively).
4 - To use the filter you must press the little green button in the top right corner of the "Filter" section to turn
it on. Use the radio buttons labeled "LP" and "HP" to switch between "Lowpass" and "Highpass" filter mode. The
cutoff and rez knobs work as expected.
Please let me know if you have any problems. This is an ongoing project, so I appreciate all feedback so that I
can find ways to improve the mixer and make it more intuitive.
Anyway, enjoy!
Matt
