This is what leads to illegal downloads. Japanese-only tracks, pre-release special purchases if you live in another country, hearing about an album 2+ months before its release, etc. It's all soooooo tempting! :)

iTunes US doesn't even have Barking on it. I just tried to buy from the UK store but no luck.

Sample is fantastic. Grrr!

Worked for me through the uk itunes store. It came with generic barking album artwork, but the ID tag says 'grace - single' so I'm not nearer to knowing if it was meant to be a single or not.

Sounds great though, although fading out at 5 minutes does leave it feeling a bit unresolved, which would work well in an album context, but perhaps there's an extended version in the works if it really is a single?

well, pete tong said that ALAF was the new single, so maybe this is the 'b-side' to that - cos i'm not sure its a strong enough track for 'single' status, as much as i like it.

btw - anyone else getting the yazoo / vince clarke 1982-ish synth vibe from the track (those that have it - that is...)

It's not a mistake and Grace will be a (digital-only?) single.

Oh, so glad Telematic Peel has been transformed to Grace! Sounds great.

As for the Moby comparison: er, no. Moby's voice is thin and not always in pitch, but he tries hard. Karl's voice here has some great effects, sounds like when you put a chorus on at high frequency and it wahs all over the place.

Sidenote: i remember reading a review of Moby's "Play" when it came out (1999? wow, where do the years go?), and the reviewer compared "Machete" to Underworld. "really?" i thought - well, maybe something agressive like "Tin there" or "Leave home remix 1". But still, not a lot in common between the Mobester and UW. But i've liked them both. Well, Moby, i'd loved 1992-2001. UW, there's never been any away time!

18 to me felt like a re-do of play, and everything since has been mediocre. i have to say, at one time i was a very avid moby collector... i actually have his "rarest record", and he mentioned me by name in his journal when i had him sign it, which i guess makes it even rarer.

it's rather ironic, i have tons of these ultra-rare moby singles (several from the now defunct outer rythym, instinct, & low spirit record companies) and i hardly ever listen to them. the only moby i really love anymore is 'play' which is one of my favourite albums of all time, and the really early underground stuff from 89-91.

oh, and btw, i do not live in the UK and i cannot buy this single track, and i'd just like to say i'm absolutely not asking for anyone to not dub the m4a over into an mp3, not upload it to a site like yousendit, bigupload, rapidshare, etc. and not send it to me in a PM, because i would absolutely not appreciate it and i would not listen to it.

Interesting. I was not thinking the exact same thing after spending a couple of hours trying to sign up for an iTunes UK account with the address of a coffee shop in London and calling my bank to request a UK billing address to no avail.

kinda feel the same way about this as i do for 'always loved a film' it's ok, it's a bit sad to see that this is supposedly the final version when previous iterations seemed so much more human, but three tracks now leaked for this thing and we're getting a much clearer picture of their sound for this album. personally i think it's really slight, and if i get a whole album of 'ok' i'm going to be really bored, but there's always the alternate disc.

There is a distinct group of 'fans' who haven't enjoyed much of Underworld since Beaucoup Fish. I don't actually consider these people fans of Underworld but rather people who liked a handful of Underworld's old singles, mainly the super clubby dancefloor stuff.

Keep in mind, Dubman has an ear infection and a juvenile need to be 'cutting edge' with his musical tastes. His interest in the older stuff most likely aligns with his introduction to electronic music and relates more to a specific time in his life than a real appreciation of the music created by Smith/Hyde.

imo the best thing to come out of post-emerson UW by far have been the first two riverruns. there've been good spots on the proper albums and i expect there to be on this one, but if i'm all in on anything it's lovely broken thing and pizza for eggs

So happy Telematic Peal found its way onto the album. Really want that box set for the "alternative" tracks of each.

Just listened to the entire iTunes "Single" of Grace. It is pretty good. This one is very sparse. I think I like the original more. The Casio keyboard single notes of this one just hit me as sort of off.

yup. i was thinking of doing this - but decided to wait. Here's what you do:

1. Buy an iTunes UK gift card on eBay - you can get the 15GBP for about $27 or so.
2. Go to iTunes - Log out.
3. Switch your country to UK.
4. Set up a new account - Use the code from the iTunes gift card and the balance will be available for you to purchase tracks.

That's it. It works. I've done it for iTunes Japan - the only problem with that is it was pre-DRM free files - so I had to sign in w/the username/password for the Japan iTunes in order to listen to them. As long as the files are iTunes PLUS which I'm sure they are for the UK - it should be no problem.

yeah same here. the 15GBP is the cheapest iTunes card for the UK store as far as I know. but there's other stuff on there that isn't available for purchase at the US iTunes store. just not enough for me to bother with 1 UW track...

Yannick has it but nobody else has it on the forums as far as I know. So far the promos have only been given to a very small number of people. Trust me, i'm checking for leaks multiple times a day. You'll know when people on the forum get it.

I'm surprised it hasn't leaked myself; I spotted a promo on eBay a few weeks ago.

The second disc (non-collab) is the one that's in the airlock. I can't think of a single journo who's got hold of that. Will the original "Moon in Water" top the live Lemonworld "Moon in Water"...?

This is really great news that Telematic Peal will be on album with the name Grace. It sounds like Dubfire did a good job. I like this version. I was fan of first version of Telematic Peal, it was just amazing.

I know that we will get the second cd with Underworld versions, but wouldnt be nice to have all the versions...?
I mean like 3 or 4 for ALAF, 3 for Telematic Peal (Grace).

Personally Im enjoying to be a fan, because we all know many versions of the tracks and we like them for a long time, for years... Maybe another fan favourites will be on an album with another name like Telematic Peal case.

this is growing on me a whole lot. i think i like it a lot now. still don't think the lyrics are much, but the music is very prog-sounding, sort of like radiohead or kraftwerk. i like this direction of sound a lot actually. i don't know what i was thinking when i didn't like it on the first listen.

hey, y'all, i just sent the track 'grace' to a friend of mine and he had this to say about it:

"It had good qualities. It did have a dark vibe. It truly freaked me out. In no kind of good way haha. I literally felt like someone was about to rape me and then kill me. It wasn't fun. But. A+ to the artist for being able to make a song that can invoke that kind of response."

i was like 'wow really?'

i hope he doesn't mind me posting this here but it was on a semi-public facebook wall so *shrug*.

For some reason, i get a real Joy Division vibe from this song. I like it more and more, but I notice I only enjoy it alone, and yet to find someone I can enjoy it with, much like Joy Division.

I could actually see myself covering this song on guitar, I think it would be fun, like sex.

Yea i can hear that. I'm talking more about Karl's vocals that remind me of Ian. And the synth that starts out and drum patterns, idk, its that kind of vibe to me. I can hear The Cure in it too, but I can also hear some Joy Division in The Cure too.

More specifically, if you listen to the parts around 1:50 - 1:58 min marks, thats like Ian to me.

And yes, Joy Division is like sex to me, like Portishead. i'll save that for another thread sometime. :)
