So overnight, the Australian Labor Party (those in power) implodes, factions begin to fling shit at each other, a leadership spills occurs, and at 9:45AM today, Australia gains its first-ever female prime minister, Julia Gillard.

Is she hot?
Can't be hotter than Rudd! :p
To the o/p: So can she win another term for Labor, do you think?
And how are aussies taking this 'first female PM' thing? (Knowing a few Aussies, it'll be something like Stimpee's response, I imagine :D )

Dave reckons he'd go there if he were pissed enough... take from that what you will ;)
Deckard: whether she'll affect Labor's chances in the next federal election at all is highly debatable. To have a leadership challenge at this point seems a bit insane given a federal election's going to be called within the coming months, but Labor's approval rating has gone through the floor of late, so bringing in Gillard might be the start of an entirely new game? It really comes down to how (and if) she decides to reshuffle Cabinet and portfolios, and how this will affect policy. Rudd's backflips on a few certain election promises certainly didn't help at all.
Nothing to do now but wait! And oh, it's going to be fun..!
