Its a Saturday as well :)

So another gig at the roundhouse...just hope I manage to win a couple of tickets. Interesting choice to debut new material to what will be a mixed audience instead of a hardcore Underworld audience.

Tickets are free.

You can enter to win one of 25 pairs of tickets here; drawing will happen 7 days before the show:

http://www.itunesfestival.co.uk/lineup.php

Hundreds of tickets will be given away on Facebook and through an iTunes app:

http://www.facebook.com/iTunesUK
http://www.itunes.com/FestivalApp

For those of us poor souls not in the UK, "Recordings from each gig will be available to download on the iTunes Store."

Also, "The gig will be broadcast live online via the iTunes Festival app (http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/itunes-festival-london-2010/id371999990?mt=8) and on ITV.com"

Yes, I'm wondering that myself. The first concerts of the festival start on July 1, so we'll have plenty of time to test it out and see.

Yer, isn't it worded in the way of 25 pairs of tickets to win from the main site? Kind of asks the question where there all being given away from.

Whilst it's a shitter always having to go to touts, the eBay prices of £10 or £20 for the two tickets are still fairly cheap compared to paying £80 for a sold out gig that you do have to pay for.

Guess it depends how much you want to go.

I am wondering just how busy this gig will be. With so many tickets being given away at the last minute, and I suspect, many tickets won by people who are not bothered about going to the gig (i.e. some people just select all the gigs when entering the itunes/facebook competition). My brother was photographing at the Ozzy gig last weekend and he said it was nowhere-near full. Really interested to see how a mostly (I suspect) 'non-underworld fanbase' crowd will react.

razorpilot
07-12-2010, 08:54 AM
I think it will be pretty full, but I agree, I think it will be mostly attended by 'non-underworld fanbase'. The reactions on faceboook to the other itunes gigs have been far from complimentary on the crowd atmosphere, people stood motionless, talking through sets etc. There will be people there just for .NUXX, but I'm not going to let anyone spoil this gig for me!! Plus it may open some new eyes to UW music!

If you live in UK, you can come down to the gig for free. Too busy? Watch from home for free. Anyone else, go stuff it...

VPN from Spain to UK managed to mostly hold up, which was a complete surprise.

Managed to tune in during ALAF, and convinced my mac to record the stream for the last 55 mins...

I'd recommend waiting until a complete set recording is out there, but for the impatient Mod note: I'd hold off on posting any recordings until the official EP comes out, and then don't post stuff that overlaps with it

BrotherLovesDub

yeah, seriously doubt a buffering stream rip will take away many sales from iTunes. Plus, nearly everyone here is going to spend $70 dollars on the new album.

For every $10 sold in iTunes, the artist gets less than $1. Appx .94¢

Why aren't these tracks being sold through UWLive.com? The tracks offered on iTunes are strictly promotional for Underworld. There will be no substantial financial gain from them.

So who was the tall chap in the LCD Soundsystem T-Shirt? Seemed to know all the new stuff, so assume it's someone from here. I was the short guy with glasses in the green Tee standing nearby.

Granted it was annoying that half the kids were only there 1) for NUXX and 2) 'cause it was free, but if it encourages a few of them to check out the back catalogue then it can only be a good thing. I'm too old to be going right to the front anyway (though I did for Orbital at Glastonbury this year)

I've got a few pics and some vids on my camera, no full tracks, and I think the mic in my camera is shite anyway, so sound quality will be poor.

Incidentally, what did people make of the sound quality tonight- I'd heard from friends that the Roundhouse's sound isn't great, but I didn't notice any real problems in there. Apart from Kele sounding flat of course...

Why aren't these tracks being sold through UWLive.com? The tracks offered on iTunes are strictly promotional for Underworld. There will be no substantial financial gain from them.

Because UnderworldLive.com is SHIT. I love this band more than any other but their website is the most hopeless, unhelpful mess I've ever seen, and the store functionality is depressing. I don't presume to know anything inside about the UW organization but from the looks of things over the last few years, I'd guess it's a largely DIY operation. Admirable -- if it works, but it doesn't. This is one reason why UW were better off with a proper label, because there it's someone's only job to make sure the music gets to where people can easily pay money for it. It's a massive improvement that UW are availing themselves of iTunes, which is, remember, the biggest music seller in the US (world?).

BrotherLovesDub
07-17-2010, 08:31 PM
I appreciate their idea but I agree with you that it needs more attention. I think UWLive.com has been great for some things and frustrating for others. I am keeping the faith that they'll either enlist some help in getting the shop running properly or get someone at UWHQ to get off their ass and make it work.

What a shocking channel ITV is

60 minute program... 15 mins of adverts, 30 mins talking to non-entities...15 mins of music
& just one track from UW...predictabilly Born Slippy & that was faded out half way through

Waste of time !!

Ha, the PR woman was on my back about that for one reason or another!

The video for this show is now on Video On Demand in the iTunes Live app for iPhones & iPads... Works outside the UK as well :)

The tracklisting is the same as the iTunes EP, but the video is nice..

I've managed to grab a HD stream rip without too much hassle. I can upload it to RTSR, but since the audio part is available for sale, I don't want to tread on any toes...

I'd venture a guess that most, if not all, the people with an RTSR login are the same people who bought the iTunes EP the minute they were able to.

I've bought the EP, but my desire for visual stimulation is high.

for as underwhelmed as I was by the Scribble released version, after hearing it on the iTunes live mp3s I have to admit, it has a shockingly awesome live presence. I'm aware the live verz is practically exact to the released one, but for some reason hearing it live moved me a heckuva lot more than the single.

That's odd. The live version had the opposite effect for me.

So there's a (deliberately, and it has to be said, honourably) edited rip on RTSR now, with slightly out of sync mono audio that "compliments" the iTunes tracks. Jumped around a bit to it tonight but all that this means is that SOMEONE SOMEWHERE has an unedited pure video stream dump of the gig. Who exactly do I have to meet in a dark alley to exchange copies of this thing!?

I'm right there with you.
