...an apology from glenn beck? (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,593850,00.html) ok, it's dressed up in a 'pity poor me'/'i'm on the edge here' style - but hats off at least for the retraction - it's a very rare thing, and certainly to his credit.

This was all over the HuffPo a couple of days ago:

first: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/05/28/glenn-beck-attacks-presid_n_593587.html
then: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/mike-green/glenn-beck-attacks-11-yea_b_594533.html "Glenn Beck attacks 11-year-old Black Girl" is an appropriate title.

First makes statement during Palin interview:
'a couple of days ago, Beck interviewed sometime-Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, and he took what appeared to be a principled stand on the matter of how people should treat the families of public figures. Speaking with Palin, Beck decried the tactic: "Leave my family, leave people's families alone...When it was Bill Clinton, you don't go after Chelsea Clinton. You don't talk about the Bush kids. Now, the minute they get into politics, that's a different story. You leave the families alone."

then launches into this juvenile and probably racist sketch.

I hope his apology is on TV and not just on the website.

yeah; the link was a transcript of his show. so fair play for that - though it only happened because he'd been caught fair and square. and i bet 'gov' palin didn't pull him up on it...

he says we need to "raise the bar." well brother, glenn beck isn't tall enough and can't stretch high enough to reach as high as the bar should be raised.

if he raises the bar, he's out of a job.
